No Sweat

Right tackle Tristan Wirfs

Joe loves a great laugh, and here’s a good one.

The Bucs head to Washington on Sunday to face a team that’s scored 55 points — through its last four games.

The Bucs hang 30 on nearly everyone, average 32.5 points per game, and Washington can barely string find two touchdowns in a game.

Yes, all signs point to the Bucs hammering the hapless WTF club.

And if you’re a nervous non-believer, you’ll be soothed a bit knowing that the most accomplished WTF edge rusher, Montez Sweat, broke his jaw and will not play Sunday.

Sweat typically comes off the left edge, so now beastly Bucs right tackle Tristan Wirfs should have an easier afternoon as he enjoys his hometown Iowa kind of weather. The kickoff forecast is for clouds and 48 degrees.

So the Bucs get the NFL’s 29th-ranked defense minus a top pass rusher with Tom Brady getting extra preparation time.

No sweat.

Their Offense is bad but they may do better against our less than stellar D. No worries about our O with the GOAT.

  2. View from 132 Says:

Should be a win, but is this really that different than the Wild Card game? The Non-Skins were what, 7-9 and that should’ve been a blowout. Instead, Heineken had the game of his life and nearly beat us.

  3. Swampbuc Says:

Our defense made Trevor Simean look like Carson Palmer. And Rivera will dial up some blitzes never before seen. This one is closer than the spread. I’ll be happy with a one point win.

  4. Bird Says:

I wonder if tony dungy is calling the game to talk about the amazing legend of WTF QB Henieke. 😂

  5. sasquatch Says:

We were supposed to hammer New Orleans. Being good has led to some smugness about the team. I have not gotten over the scars of 40 years of losing and can never confidently predict a win.

  6. Doctor Stroud Says:

“…hapless WTF club.” “…accomplished WTF edge rusher…” WTF? I see what you did there, Joe(s). Well played!

  7. John Olmstead Says:

Yet, this is the NFL where the Cowboys got hammered by the Broncos, the Rams got hammered by the Titans and the Bengals went from #1 AFC seed to out of the playoffs in two weeks. There are no gimmies in the NFL!

  8. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I really hope that Wirfs makes the Pro Bowl this year. Andrus Peat of the Saints has kept him out of the Pro Bowl for a few years, but he is injured and out for the Season.

  9. cmurda Says:

Stop the whining about the defense. We had a bit of a clunker against the Saints but that’s because of dumb penalties and even dumber officiating. Let me correct a few misstatements since too many of our beloved posters are going full tar-tar this lovely Thursday. Bucs are a top 10 ranked defense that you are ripping into. Despite half the defense being hurt for most of the year. Trevor Siemian had a less than pedestrian 16 for 29 159 yds and 1TD. That’s nothing more than meh at best. The defense got shafted on some ridiculous calls especially on the game winning FG drive by the Aints. That RTP on a dude that has his helmet ripped off is cringeworthy pathetic. Brady had a rare case of the whoops on the final play when M.E. was wide open. This game was a fluke. The better team lost. Payton did his typical out-coaching along with a ton of help from the officials which has been common-place since getting shafted with the no call PI preventing the Aints from reaching the SuperBowl a few years back. The Aints aren’t even close to the Bucs level. I expect a Bucs domination when the 2 teams reunite at Ray Jay. The sky is still blue and the Bucs are still a great team. How’s that for a reality check? Have a great day everybody.

Cmurda: I’m 100% with you on that one! Let’s f@cking Go!!

    cmurda speaks truth

  12. TampabayDJ82 Says:

CMURDA – You took the word’s out my mouth !! The defense is playing a lot better than it was the first 2 – 3 game’s of the season.. People are just either ignorant or don’t really know what they are watching ! NO GAME IS PERFECT ! So everyone needs to stop WAITING for then jumping on the first thing the D does wrong. GO BUCS

  13. David Says:

The perfect extra week for Brown and Gronk and maybe Miller to rest some more.
Do Johnson and Howard Finally go off? I must assume with Godwin being hampered that Evans will be double teamed all day

  14. SufferingSince76 Says:

Sasquatch knows what he’s talking about.

  15. Swampbuc Says:

I’m with Suffering and sasquatch. But I get cmurda’s point, it’s too many episodes of letting expectations get too high. Bucs PTSD.

  16. Craig Says:

Taylor Heineke is the kind of QB that gives the Bucs defense trouble. He did it last year, but there is a lot more film on him this year, so Bowles should know his tendencies.

If the defense doesn’t give him six free first downs, the Bucs will make them have a long bus ride home, from home field.

Brady will have an attitude, and Wirfs will have an easy day, should be fun for Bucs fans, not fun for the last three WTF fans.

  17. Lamarcus Says:

Idk. Maybe we win a close one. Not expecting a blowout

  18. LakelandSteve Says:

If I remember correctly you were saying the same thing about the Saints game Joe. We were going to win blah, blah, blah. I’m not normally that superstitious but if the Bucs happen to blow this one too, I’m going to blame you Joe.
