No Decision (Yet) On Activating Sean Murphy-Bunting

November 18th, 2021

Bucs DC Todd Bowles

While a lot can change in the next four days, the way Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles spoke this afternoon, it doesn’t appear starting corner Sean Murphy-Bunting will play Monday night.

While admittedly Bowles has a good poker face, he offered nothing to suggest SMB will play against the Giants, though Bowles did leave the door cracked open.

When asked about SMB’s status, Bowles said, “He’s getting better. He’s comfortable. He’s been running around a lot more. His wind has been getting a lot better. So we will just continue to monitor him.”

Granted, that’s not a “no” in Joe’s eyes, but it certainly isn’t a “yes” either.

Bowles, when asked how many snaps SMB will play if he is activated for Monday, said he expects any player who is active to play a full amount.

“We will see where he’s is at the end of the week,” Bowles said. “That will all tell the picture right there. If he’s playing in the game that means I’m confident in him playing a full set of snaps.”

SMB hasn’t played since the first half of the first game when he dislocated his elbow. In recent weeks, Arians has noted SMB’s use of his injured arm has been the main speed bump in preventing his activation.

SMB would be an upgrade over the current personnel but he’s not Carlton Davis.

Giants coach Garrett today said he’s concerned ,and has got work-to-do to improve his offensive line ..

JPP is a warrior -and has been great —but he can’t perform at that level with torn rotator cuff.. Having had one myself –i can’t imagine how much he must be struggling–given his desire to perform..

Its time , past time , for “rookie Joe” to play a LOT more snaps ..

The tough part about this is Bunting was cleared to practice on Nov. 3rd. Its now 15 days later. Scotty Miller same thing. If its taking both of them this long to get from practice back into the game what does this mean for Carlton Davis?……….As far as I know hes not cleared to practice? Does that mean he might be a month out or longer? Im getting worried he might be out for the rest of the season at this point.

And if we get Bunting back I say its a massive upgrade. It seems like every game we see a DB get a game-changing pick reflect right off of his hands. Bunting excells at fininshing those plays. If Bunting can chip in 2-3 picks down the stretch here it might very well make a huge difference in playoff seeding.

What does Todd’s Bowel have to say about his non-existent pass rush, his underperforming overpaid linebackers who can’t blitz effectively or cover short passes, or a secondary that looks more like a quaternary?

Any plans to improve on those items, Todd?
