Bruce Arians Updates Devin White’s Status

November 30th, 2021

Can the Bucs win another Super Bowl without Devin White being at full strength and duplicating his magical playoff run of last season?

The answer is probably yes because the Bucs can outscore anyone. But Joe doesn’t want to find out.

White has a new hip injury to go with his lingering quad issue. Bucco Bruce Arians was asked about White’s health status today on his official team radio show.

The head coach gave an ominous reply.

“Really don’t know much,” Arians said. “We’ll see Wednesday when we go out and practice and what he can do and gradually work him through the week. If he can play, he’ll play. But if not, we’re going to sit him out.”

Ouch. It sure sounds like the Bucs would be better off letting White sit out the game on the fake turf in Atlanta on Sunday.

If the Bucs can’t beat the Falcons without White, then they have serious problems that go beyond White’s hip.

Sit him no matter what. Bucs won a playoff game without him.

  2. SOEbuc Says:

Not much of an update I would say but yes I would sit him for the Bills. We can not keep racking up injuries now!!!

  3. Defense Rules Says:

Bucs still have 6 games to go in the regular season & we’re already pretty well beaten up. We SHOULD have the NFC South in the bag because if we 4-2 rest of the way we’d end up 12-5 & that would win the division. It could also very well keep us as the #3 seed in the NFC. Maybe even better.

Tend to think that our best approach would be to get our starters & key rotational guys fully healthy & go into the playoffs on about a nice 4 game win streak. Since our last 4 games are Saints, Panthers, Jets, Panthers that SHOULD be quite doable.

In Devin White’s case, Kevin Minter is playing excellent ball as his replacement. Don’t rush White back in, or Davis, or Dean, and keep the snaps down on JPP. Same thing goes on offense with not rushing AB back in, or Marpet, or Stinnie. We need all those guys healthy for the playoffs. We’re all-in this season, but the goal is winning the Super Bowl, not worrying about going 14-3 in the regular season. Get everyone healthy.

At this point we need to make sure (place names here) are 100% healthy before we play them…..we need a healthy team for the playoffs……

It is entirely possible that our entire starting lineup….offense & defense will be healthy by then……that’s amazing.

    Hip pointer? Quite painful.

  6. DoooshLaRue Says:

Sit him and blitz Matty Ice Statue all damn day.

  7. JimmyJack Says:

We might be able to get by Atlanta without White but the following week vs Buffalo we need all hands on deck. If he can go he needs to be in.

We can win all 6 of these last games but we gonna need White and a few others to tough it out..

Yall wanna rest players. Then lets go get that bye and thats the rest.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  8. ModHairKen Says:

Every team is beat up. This is when coaching and backups make a difference.

  9. Destinjohnny Says:

    Minter can ball
Sit white for 3 weeks and let Kevin play.
Hate the way the NFL will have a solid healthy backup and play a half speed starter.

  10. Erik Says:

We should do fine without him and he should sit out and rest until he is fully recovered. We really have no competition except bills and we should be able to beat them at home which we are undefeated.

  11. PassingThru Says:

Hip injury is a pretty broad category. It’s encouraging that White can practice.

  12. Leighroy Says:

Minter can ball….on special teams. Have you watched him play defense? He’s like a poor man’s Barret Ruud, which is exactly why 70% of an elite starter is better than 100% of a special teams-ace backup.

  13. Eddie Marz Says:

Hey if White plays this Sunday it’s cool. You can take him out any time you want. I don’t get it when fans say we can afford to lose games. Every game counts and means something. I think The Bucs can finish this season 14-3 or 13-4. No reason to let up on anyone if you can play. GO BUCS!

  14. brooks Says:

    Can’t win without white.

  15. Miller5252 Says:

If it slows him down a little it might not be the worse thing in the world. This year he’s missed sacks and tackles when he’s flying in full speed. I don’t want to see any long term effects, but these are the things you get growth from.

  16. LakelandSteve Says:

Sit him until he is healthy

ModHairKen – Yes you are correct that Every team has injured players , but the Bucs and a few other teams are INJURY DEPLETED !! We have had guys playing CB that would probably never see a real game if not for the amount of injuries just to that position ! Both sides of the team have been without MULTIPLE PRO BOWL players that would normally be the end of it for most teams .

Erik- I AGREE 💯 with you ! I say we rest anyone who absolutely NEEDS it .. I know the term ” Any given Sunday” but if we can’t rest a few players and still not drop 35-40 points on the Dirty Birds , we have bigger problems then injuries ! Mini bye week for the UNHEALTHY ! GO BUCS
