Ali Marpet Gets A Nod From The Athletic As Midseason All-Pro

November 5th, 2021

Joe thought Tom Brady might be seen here. Or Tristan Wirfs. Or perhaps Ryan Jensen. Maybe, just maybe, Vita Vea or Antoine Winfield.

Nope. Sheil Kapadia of The Athletic decided to come out with his midseason All-Pro team and none of the aforementioned Bucs made his roster.

Kapadia, however, did find room for one Bucs player. And that was Ali Marpet at left guard.

By the time the end of the year rolls around, it could easily be Quenton Nelson here. But he’s missed three games already, so Marpet gets the nod.

Marpet has started eight games and played 97 percent of the snaps. Thorn pointed to Marpet’s strength in handling opposing three-technique defensive tackles one-on-one in pass protection as his superpower. Marpet has not given up a sack and has been charged with one penalty this season.

Cleveland’s Joel Bitonio and Kansas City’s Joe Thuney have played well and also got consideration here.

Marpet may just be having his best season. No quibble here. In fact, Joe has thought that maybe Marpet has been overlooked in years past.

Not so this year.

Wirfs almost got on the list. Kapadia wrote he had to flip a coin to determine his midseason All-Pro right tackle between Tristan Wirfs and slimy Saints right tackle Ryan Ramczyk.

The coin came up Ramczyk.

Sooner or later players like Marpet, LVD or Jensen will get recognition….

Of course he is….but we rather stroke D Smith

Great player, lineman almost always get overlooked. It’s not a glamour position but our linemen can play. GO BUCS!

    Just remember
those great receivers and tight ends keep Brady in the headlines

That offensive line keeps him off the obituary

    Pffffftt…… please.
Marpet needs to up his penalty count and lose some in-game effort if he wants to be considered an elite OL on this team.

Our fans know talent when they see it….. or rather hear about it.
2 penalties ain’t gonna cut Ali.

Better far too late then never I guess. Marpet has been worthy of accolades for a long time now.

I was going to make some sexist comment about Sheil needing to stay in the kitchen and worry about having babies rather than trying to write about football. Then I realized that Sheila is a dude that reports or reported on the Eagles. So because men can allegedly do anything that a woman can in our progressive society I decided to double down. So Sheila quit writing about football and coming up with lists that you are not qualified for and get back in the kitchen and fix meals and other household chores you are qualified for, oh and while you are in the kitchen bring me a beer, make it two. I agree with Marpet but their is no way that Nancy from the Saints is a better right tackle than Wirfs. Not even close.

Didn’t know anything about him when he got picked, so naturally viewed him skeptically. Great pick, hope he stays a Buc for a VERY long time.
