Rocking Offensive Line

October 10th, 2021

Dominant front line?

Joe defended the Bucs’ offensive line for years because all of the unfair hollering and stomping.

Even dating back to Dirk Koetter’s time with the Bucs, the offense consistently produced and moved the ball. That simply could not happen with a lousy offensive line.

Today you could make a great argument that the Bucs’ front line is the best in the NFL. What little stats there are about offensive line play demonstrate this.

Only one team (Pittsburgh) has given up fewer sacks per pass attempt this year.

With a 44-year old quarterback, it sure helps that your offensive line is a rock.

TB12’s release time is making this o-line look better than it is (especially at Left Tackle).

  2. Buc king Says:

    Worst running tho

  3. Bush's Coke Spoon Says:

I would feel better about calling them “the best line in the NFL” if they could get their yards per carry up to at least average. Of course their pass blocking has been above average for a long time.

I don’t think that stat is saying we haven’t given up a sack in 6 games…

  5. Hodad Says:

I’ll go against the grain. I’d like to see them commit more to the run, but get more creative than up the middle on 1st, and 10. I’d like to see a little more zone, and would love to see Wirfs pull to the left on some sweeps. We got some big guys who can move, we should move them. That would really set up better shot plays, getting the running game going.

6 game streak without giving up a sack? Someone needs to work on reading comprehension and go watch some game film from this season

  7. Pickgrin Says:

6 Games total not giving up a sack – since the start of last season…..

So no sacks allowed in 6 out of 20 games. Not six games in a row.

Still impressive though. TB12 has taken less hits than most NFL QBs since he became a Buccaneer.

Got to give Licht and Koetter some credit. They did a lot of the heavy lifting building this OLine.

LOL swing and a miss on this one Joe! I do agree that our O-line kicks ass

This was just a test. Joe is trying to keep us on our toes.

  11. Marine Buc Says:

Our offensive line is average. Why can’t we run the football? Our RBs need to break two tackles before they reach the line of scrimmage on most run plays.

Pass blocking is decent but not great…

  12. Marine Buc Says:

Number of sacks allowed is not the only measuring stick of an offensive line.

Tom Brady is the best in the league at getting rid of the football while in the pocket. I give Brady as much credit as the line for the low number of sacks allowed.

  13. DoooshLaRue Says:

    MarineBuc,

    You are correct sir.

  14. RGA Says:

While the offensive line does a decent job protecting Brady, they down right suck at opening holes for the running game.

  15. Gilly Gil Says:

Our running game looked a lot better today thanks to fournette…our Offensive looked unstoppable!
Our Defense could use a little work though

  16. Capt.Tim Says:

Comments prove what I have said for years.
No Buc fan in central Florida knows ANYTHING about offensive line.
Even more amazing, no Buc fan in History has ever known anything about Offensive lines.
That level of collective misinformation couldnt possibly be a coincidence!
It has to be some sick government experiment.
    Nothing else could explain it

I think we were expected to match up well against Miami’s D-line. I wouldn’t get too excited until this becomes more consistent.
