Just Enough

October 6th, 2021

Winning.

It wasn’t pretty. And from the reaction Joe has read and heard, the build-up for the game was nauseous (Joe purposedly did not follow the hype or watch the pregame borefests).

So in that respect, the Bucs win was unsatisfying for many because the game did not live up to the hype. Wins > hype.

Whatever.

Now John Breech of NFL.com wasn’t caught up much in the hype either. And while the Bucs did not win pretty, Breech was impressed by the Bucs winning with everything swirling around them. He gave the Bucs a “B-” grade.

An imperfect night for Tom Brady, pronounced by the hype of the matchup. But even though they lacked explosive plays, they played ground-and-pound pretty well, with Leonard Fournette, Ronald Jones and even Brady himself all logging some tough yards in inclement weather (The Buccaneers rushed for 119 yards on 30 carries). The defense, meanwhile, allowed Mac Jones to put together some long, beautiful drives but also came through in crunch time and flashed off the edge. Not a championship performance, obviously, but they won in a gritty way, and that matters.

Joe liked that it was a gritty win. The Bucs didn’t play great and Tom Brady seemed out of whack a little with no foot-rubbing, car-littering, film guru Rob Gronkowski to lean on. And the Bucs secondary was ravaged with injuries. Who knew a bottle of cologne (Pierre Desir) could play football?

That’s what good teams do. They find a way to win on the road in hostile, unforgiving environments. The Bucs had to grind this game out.

Gritty wins are 10 times better than gut-wrenching loses says Pete

  2. Youngbucs Says:

All we’ve been doing is winning!!! Can someone please explain to me why some are still mad?

  3. Bucsfanman Says:

Yeah, a win is a win.
The adjective “nauseating,” is the best way to describe the hype for this game! Glad we’re past that.

  4. mg Says:

It was 100 times worse in Massholeachusetts.

  5. Jaymiss Pick6 Again Says:

Ref the hype – borefest – pregame crap….What Joe said….”Whatever”

  6. adam from ny Says:

and put up some heavy stats this weekend…

bucs could plop a 50 burger on these lame azz fins

  7. SB~LV Says:

Still waiting for a good game out of the 2021 roster

  8. Bobby M. Says:

In the past we would always find a way to lose…..now we find ways to win. Its a nice change.

  9. JA Says:

Waxing poetic from my Shakespearean and Stan Lee literary coffers …
Methinks a win is a win is a win. Nuff said.

  10. Defense Rules Says:

Got a hunch BA will feature Lenny just as much down in Miami. We only ran on 40% of the plays, but that still allowed us to do a much better job of controlling the clock in Foxboro (34 mins to 26 mins). That’s a BIG DEAL to our hurting defense.

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

DR Miami is a home game….

As far as gritty……I’ve been watching the Bucs from the beginning & the word is usually $hitty

Week after week the Bucs made it close….but couldn’t win the close ones.

  12. mg Says:

Patriots just released Gilmore. With looking into.

  13. mg Says:

    worth.

  14. VSyl Says:

I agree, we should persuit Gilmore.

  15. Alanbucsfan Says:

Dolphins coaches will study film from Pats game and try that D again- Brady should be ready for it this time.

  16. Ash Says:

With what money this isnt Madden there is no cap space to sign gilmore they got the cbs they have and that’s who they will train

  17. Joshua porter Says:

Hey Joe did u see that the pats are cutting Gilmore?

  18. Gofortheface30 Says:

If there is a team that Gilmore is willing to play for at the vet minimum or something – it’s the Bucs. You never know. But I can bet Brady is making his sales pitch as we speak

  19. BuccaneerButters Says:

Jason Licht, if you see this. For the love of God, please sign Gilmore!

  20. Joshua porter Says:

Yeah it’s all over get up and who do they think he going to … The bucs.. lfg get him Brady

  21. ClodHopper Says:

I wonder if Freddie Martino puts on Pierre Desir to smell better while he is singing for beer delivery guys, FedEx drivers and Skyline chili ladlers at the velvet-lined lounge at the Vero Beach Ramada Inn

  22. Joshua porter Says:

Hey maybe that’s what that 24 minute meeting between Brady and belichick was in the locker room they were trying to work out a deal for Stephan Gilmore 😂

  23. Defense Rules Says:

TBBF … Obviously if it was up to me we’d lose that one ’cause the Bucs team would show up in Miami … for a home game. Duh.

  24. PassingThru Says:

I hope Gilmore is affordable, cap space is pretty damn small. Someone would need to be restructured and some promise would likely have to be made to Gilmore that he has a future in Tampa Bay if he plays well. I would guess Godwin would be the most likely candidate to be odd man out.

This assumes Gilmore can play. That isn’t a given.

  25. Steven007 Says:

Desir was probably one more practice away from having a pick six on Sunday. He was a decent player in the not too distant past.

  26. Gofortheface30 Says:

Passingthru- yes. Gilmore coming here for peanuts to be a part of a super bowl team, shows that he can still play, but with a promise by the team to negotiate a deal in the offseason. Which of course, would be at the expense of a Godwin or a Carlton Davis

  27. Joshua porter Says:

He’s been holding out for a new contract. They said he’s ready to go .

  28. JimBuc2 Says:

Tbbf, I have cheered our team on from their first snap as well. From In The Bay With John McKay right up to No Risk It No Biscuit. Sunday’s Foxborough game was one the Bucs used to lose. Not anymore, this team has backbone. Expectations have been changed for the better and this fan loves that our team embraces winning and will not tolerate losing. There is nothing $hitty about that. Before Brady arrived this team would have folded like a cheap lawn chair. Tom ‘Patton’ Brady is committed to winning. As noted by the crusty general in the movie of the same name “Americans love a winner, and will not tolerate a loser.” It is a new beginning in Tampa Bay and this fan fully embraces that. I hope you do, too. Borrowing from the movie once more, ‘By God, I almost feel sorry for the poor bastard (other teams).’
    LFG Bucs!

  29. Nano107 Says:

    Gilmore will be a Buc

  30. Infomeplease Says:

A WIN is a WIN!!!! A new WIN streak has begun!! GO BUCS!!

  31. ocala Says:

If healthy and if he is willing to play on a small contract for just this year Gilmore would be a fantastic get for the Bucs.

  32. James Allen Lofton Says:

If anyone can get Gilmore for the Bucs it’s TB.

  33. zzbuc Says:

We don´t have any money for gilmore…..Forget it

  34. Elita Vita Says:

Of course it’s a no brainer to want Gilmore. Jason Licht needs to take out his magic wand to free up some cap space. (Telephone ringing) “Hello Stephone, Tom Brady here. Have I got a job for you”!

  35. Hodad Says:

Gilmore is due 7 million for the rest of this year. He won’t be ready to play, he’s on IR, till mid season. By than we should have our guys back. He also doesn’t want to play for that 7 million, was holding out for max deal. So a 31 year old, injured, won’t be ready for weeks, and wants a max deal, don’t see how he’d help us. Let’s also not forget we could barely sign Sherman with our cap situation.

  36. Spicoli Says:

Hoping we can work some magic for Gilmore. Cut Sherman? Jk

  37. Mike C Says:

Hey Joe, could you please tell us again how you felt about the hype of that game?!?!

  38. sasquatch Says:

The build up to the game may have been nauseating, but I doubt it was nauseous.

  39. ClodHopper Says:

I ignored every national talking head all week. Then on Sunday morning it was kinda nice watching NFL network talk about the game all morning because I wasn’t sick of it yet. The only way to live!

  40. Listnfrmafar Says:

Brian Floras Miami head coach was DC in New England, very familiar with Brady. Not every game is going to be 30+ points, Bucs just came off brutal beat down from Rams causing multiple injuries, traveled from West back to East coast and then to New England, lousy weather (shocked Bucs don’t practice for inclement weather) , all the hype and Bill knows Brady’s weaknesses better than anyone. Give these players a break, Bucs secondary is horrible and never addressed in the off season. Catches & GM’s fault. I just hope they don’t have to play in Greenbay in the playoffs and it snows, what will Bucs do then if.they can’t catch in the rain. BA and staff blow.
