Bucs The Best Team In NFC?

October 25th, 2021

As Bill Parcells famously said, you are what your record says you are. So in that respect, the Bucs are not (now) the best team in the NFC.

However, Nick Shook of NFL.com thinks the undefeated Cardinals ought to be scared by how the Bucs are starting to roll through teams.

Is there a better-looking team in the NFL right now than Tampa Bay? Well, the Cardinals can make a strong argument for that title, but the Buccaneers sure do look good. Save for their loss to the Rams, the Bucs have taken care of business consistently and appear exactly as a defending champion should. Tom Brady continues to play at a premier level, Tampa’s defense is capitalizing on opponents’ mistakes, and the Bucs are turning games into track meets. They’re deep, they’re familiar with their schemes and expectations, and they don’t appear to be slowing down any time soon. Sunday was setting up to test Tampa’s offensive mettle against one of the NFL’s better defenses, and the Buccaneers responded by smashing through their resistance and watching their own defense make the going even easier for them.

Here is what is wild about this: The may be best in the NFC right now, and they may be down their top five outside corners, depending on how Jamel Dean and Dee Delaney’s injuries are from yesterday.

Yet the Bucs continue to roll lesser teams? This ought to frighten the rest of the NFL.

    Arizona, Rams, Bucs right now.

and they were also missing David, Brown and Gronk.

The running against them likely stops with David back.

  3. Wild Bill Says:

What impressed me lately is how the running game has improved. 4net is looking like the real deal. Playoff Lenny is for real. The Bears have a tough defense but they got sliced and diced. Teams are forced to focus on our passing game which makes them more vulnerable to the run. A balanced run/pass offense makes everything more effective. Had Gronk and AB been available the offense would have been even better in the red zone.

  4. Bird Says:

Need some dbs back to be in conversation for best in nfc/ nfl. Not worried about smb as much. He is ok. They need carlton davis back sometime soon. After the bye would be a miracle but thats 3 extra weeks

Lvd , gronk And AB should play against saints.
You could tell on a few hot reads that guys were lost. When gronk knows exactly what brady wants on these blitzes.

And AB finds those open holes in the field. Our running game is much better then when we faced saints last year ( regular season)

Don’t be satisfied! There is room for improvement! Goal line offense is one. Why didn’t they use Vita on the goal line yesterday?

  6. ModHairKen Says:

Do the playoffs start this week? No. Then who cares. Remember “5-2”, the battle cry the year Sam Wyche, was fired? The rest of these clown teams are a few bad breaks from disappearing. Not this team. Even Gabbert could make the playoffs with this team.

The Cardinals & Rams play each other…..TBBF predicts one of them will lose…..& Thursday night,,,,Cardinals play the Packers…..TBBF also predicts one of them will lose.

  8. Jerry Says:

Goal line offense is something they need to work on in practice this week. They’ll fix it.

Next week is a huge game.

  9. Medicated Pete Says:

@TBBF great point . Pete is usually Nostradamus but you are now

  10. AMI_Chris Says:

If the playoffs started today, the NFC field looks really strong. It would be a dogfight. But remember, the Steelers started 11-0 last year and looked unbeatable before collapsing; and the Bucs were 7-5. Long way to go.

  11. Listnfrmafar Says:

No AB, No Gronk, the Bucs are much easier to defend without them. Remember Brate dropped one that hit him right between the 8&4. There was no sense of urgency 2nd half on goaline. Loved the lack of penalties and need Lenny in for goaline runs. Rojo had a break through game but he dives to early and struggles on the goaline. Same thing happened in SB. Total team effort, O, D & ST’s all great. Can’t wait to see Bucs when healthy. Isn’t Scotty on IR and out for the season?

  12. orlbucfan Says:

Yep, Bucs are the best team in the NFL. Can’t believe I just wrote that. 🙂 Wake me up when it’s over.

  13. SufferingSince76 Says:

On those two goal line failures, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Right now, the Cardinal offense would be scoring a ton on the Bucs defense. So maybe the Bucs win a 45-42 game but maybe not. The Cardinals have a better defense right now than the Bucs. So at the moment, Cardinals get the nod, but if and that is a big if, the Bucs dfense can get healthy, then maybe the Bucs. But right now, the Bucs could not not handle the Rams, the Rams offense ran through the Bucs defense way to easily. Are the Bucs good, yes, but they got beat by a team that Arizona spanked the Rams right after the Bucs got soundly beaten by the Rams. Arizona is top dog for now. GO BUCS!!!!!

  15. Buczilla Says:

Murray is super fun to watch, but he has been getting blasted lately and I don’t see the little dude being as effective down the stretch. Since the Rams beat us, I gotta put them at number one but the Cardinals don’t scare me in the least.

  16. Mike Johnson Says:

Our Defense is going to have to play much better. The Rams and Cardinals have better defenses for the moment. Arians is pissed about points left on the field because he knows…We might have to outscore the top teams.
