Bruce Arians Did Not Sound Optimistic About Carlton Davis

October 8th, 2021

Bucs CB Carlton Davis.

This week on Twitter, Bucs injured cornerback Carlton Davis put out a message to fans that he would be fine and people may be surprised by his comeback.

As the days go by, that message seems less and less cheerful.

Davis was subsequently placed on injured reserve and will miss at least the next three games.

Then came today. When Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians was asked if Davis would need surgery on his injured quad, Arians’ words were anything but reassuring.

“No idea,” Arians said.

To Joe, not only does that sound grim, it sounds like a surgery option may have been discussed.

Joe sure hopes for a lot of reasons Davis does not need to go under the knife.

Either he’s out for the year or it’s a strained. Ridiculous. If he’s out for the year that doesn’t look good at all. Smh

  2. Rod Munch Says:

We’ll see. It sounded like Gronk would be out for a long time on the reevaluation, now it sounds like he’ll be back perhaps sooner than expected. Dean I thought would be out for longer, and he’s back already.

  3. Joe in Michigan Says:

If the Bucs could get him back sometime this season, even the playoffs, it’d be a boost for the team. If not, maybe someone else will step up.

  4. Buc4evr Says:

IDK, but when listening to BA about any injury to a player he is always purposely vague. Maybe it’s a competitive thing to keep the other team guessing, maybe he doesn’t know or just doesn’t share that kind of info. At any rate we just won’t really know much about Davis for the foreseeable future. Glad Dean is back and hope we see Gronk and Winfield next week?

It’s simple with big injuries. He either has no idea, or he’s not spouting out to the media when his players will return so the opposing team doesn’t pick out a certain game plan for the guy coming back from a serious injury. It’s actually a good strategy. Stfu.

  6. DanBucsFan Says:

Anyone know if game will be telivised this week in orlando area? Cbs games always scare me lol.. Thx in advance if anyone has info!

  7. geno711 Says:

Profootball Doc is a better source for injury info than BA. He is pretty darn good at accessing the issues. For instance on SMB he immediately that it was a dislocated elbow and while fans were all thinking SMB was done for the season, the Doc said that if there was no associated fracture, he would go on the IR but would be back around the half season mark.

  8. Defense Rules Says:

Carlton’s condition is all speculation at this point, so no sense in dwelling on it IMO. We know he’ll miss at least the next 3 games because of IR rules, but beyond that everyone (including BA) is just guessing. Might need surgery; might not. Some guys heal really fast; some guys take forever. It’s all speculation right now.

Pretty much the same with SMB. Doesn’t sound like anyone has a clue how long he’ll be out.

What we do know is that several CBs on our roster: Sherman, Dean, Cockrell, Delaney, Robinson. Plus Edwards can play CB if we need him there. Our defensive strategy & tactics might change, but maybe that won’t be such a bad thing. I mean we have allowed opposing QBs to complete almost 3/4ths of their passes to this point.

    It’s not CBS. Its Fox

Bucs Schedule from the their site says this is CBS’s first broadcast of the 2021 season for the Bucs

  12. August 1976 Buc Says:

Danbucs…I should have just looked at 506sports.com, yes Orlando gets the game and it is CBS with Nantz and Romo doing the game.
Joe posts from 506sports every week when showing the Bucs opponent, it is the tell all for NFL College Football and MLB on TV

Makes letting Gilmore slip away to the Panthers seem real suspect now.

    Trade deadline is 11/2.

IMO Do not think Billy B would do a deal to help out Brady’s Bucs, especially after losing last Sun to the Bucs

  16. Winny Testaverde Says:

I thought a potential Gilmore trade ( originally reported as cut ) was a real possibility at first. Until it wasn’t. As Joe has pointed out multiple times…the Bucs didn’t have the money. Billy B. really wasn’t going to trade Gilmore to the Bucs unless it was a real fleecing and now it’s coming out Gilmore wanted Carolina ( he went to college in South Carolina ) all along. Can’t sign/trade for everyone I suppose. I’m still bullish on Sherman to be honest.

  17. Cchead Says:

Let’s be honest. CD3 was not playing all rat good this year. He was toast and did not look like he wanted to tackle anybody. So next man up. Go Bucs.

  18. adam from ny Says:

  19. adam from ny Says:

cd3 wants to get back out there asap in his contract year to make some noise and look good
