Tom Brady Already Among All-Time Bucs Passing Leaders

September 20th, 2021

Climbing the charts.

This is just wild to Joe.

Having started a grand total of 22 games for the Bucs is salad-bar-hating, park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller-coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, helmet-tossing, football-punting, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady.

That’s not even a season and a half and Brady already is one of the Bucs’ franchise passing leaders.

(That also tells you about the gruesome history of Bucs quarterbacks.)

After yesterday’s win over the Dixie Chicks, Brady is now No. 9 all-time in Bucs history for passing yards in the regular season with 5,288. He’s just ahead of Jeff Garcia, who in two years as a starter amassed 5,152 yards passing.

Brady has toyed with the idea of playing until he is 50. It may take that long for Brady to hold the franchise record for passing yards at 19,737 held by youknowwho.

This season, Brady could easily pass Craig Erickson (6,094 yards) and Steve DeBerg (9,439) while falling just short of Brad Johnson (10,940).

He’d be in the ring of Honor had he only played 1 season. No one else could do that

  2. Pruritus Ani Says:

Amazing stat and also quite tragic that it took 45 years to get here.

That’s what happens when you draft QBs that never get a second contract.

    None of them deserved one.

It’s truly amazing what the addition of one guy did to the team in one season. Subtract Jameis, add Brady, go from out of the playoffs to winning the Super Bowl. I still really can’t believe it.

It will not take Brady that long for the yards record joe. And the td record will fall early next season.

This detail was always omitted by Jameis Jock Riders when describing him as the best QB in Bucs history and the reason we should keep him is because he holds Bucs records…..like the records themselves were actually meaningful.

    Doug Williams?

  10. Aceofaerospace Says:

The only quarterback in the franchise history that we drafted that ever deserved a second contract was Steve Young and a bunch of boneheads traded him. You need to quit living in this fantasy that letting Mr Pick-6 walk was a mistake. The only mistake was not trading out of that pick, but who knew at the time. I surely didn’t.

  11. WestChap Says:

Doug deserved 2nd contract… SB MVP for Washington. Steve Young didn’t show much as a Buc.

  12. Bucs4821 Says:

I remember seeing a profile where Bill Walsh said the first thing they had to do with Steve Young was to undo the damage that had been done to him with the Bucs.

Doug Williams definitely deserved a second contract.

  13. Aceofaerospace Says:

Sorry, I left out Doug Williams. He definitely deserved another contract. Brain fart.

  14. Eddie Marz Says:

AMI – Chris. I’m with you, it’s hard to believe how much has changed in one year. GO BUCS!

Funny that Culverhouse would come up…the guy that made players put money into soda machines to get drinks.

He would never pay Doug what he was worth. He was always in the business to make more from the revenue share then he spent on payroll. At least that was until he knew his days were numbered and tried to throw some money around to win. Of course when you never have spent well, it is hard to get it right on how to spend it when doing so is relatively new to you.

  16. Buczilla Says:

Doug, Brad, and Garcia were above average and Brady is the best player in league history. All the rest of our qb’s we’re usually gosh awful outside of a fluke season or handful of fluke games.
