Rob Gronkowski Says He Does Watch Film (But His Girlfriend Camille Kostek Doesn’t Like That)

September 22nd, 2021

Fibber.

OK, Joe’s going to get this out of the way.

Yes, Joe was aware that Bucs foot-rubbing, car-littering tight end Rob Gronkowski was on the Mannings Show (Joe has no idea what BSPN calls that thing with Eli and Peyton Manning on Monday nights) where Gronk claimed he doesn’t watch film.

From what Joe can tell, that thing/show is a horrible takeoff on Greg Gutfeld’s show, which is a takeoff of “The Man Show.”

(Joe has seen clips of this Mannings Show. Why in the world would anyone watch two dudes — often three dudes — from different locations sometimes talk about a game with the game in the background and no sound when you can actually watch the real game with sound on another channel? It makes no sense to Joe. Now watching the Mannings review a game afterward with guests, now that Joe would watch. But if Joe is going to watch a game, Joe’s going to watch the damn game.)

Anyway, just like that spoof Gronk does with Tom Brady weekly on Buccaneers.com, Joe considers that Mannings Show somewhat of a parody, so whatever heard there Joe cannot take too seriously.

Well today, aside from furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing Antonio Brown being placed on the COVID list, the talk of the day at the various press conferences was Gronk watching tape.

And yes, Gronk said, he watches so much tape his Sports Illustrated swimsuit covergirl girlfriend gets mad at him.

“I actually watch tons of film — an overload of film,” Gronk said.

Gronk said he got caught up in the “silly atmosphere” of the Mannings Show and shot off his mouth playfully.

“Trust me, I watch so much film, my girlfriend … throws sh!t at me sometimes.”

Recognizing who Gronk’s girlfriend is, getting stuff thrown at you by her might actually be sort of kinky. Sounds promising.

When Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians got wind of Gronk’s no-tape-watching claim, Arians threatened to pull all of Gronk’s vet days from him for the remainder of the season.

  1. Must Be Blind Says:

People watch the Manning’s because the MNF crew is that bad.

  2. Joe Says:

    MNF crew is that bad.

Love Louis Riddick but his voice is so soft it blends in with the background.

Brian Griese adds nothing. Don’t hate him but he’s just meh. His voice is so similar to Riddick’s sometimes don’t even know which one is talking.

    Steve Levy is OK.

Get rid of Griese and crank up the volume on Riddick and the crew wouldn’t be bad at all.

  3. Nunya Jones Says:

Why so much hate for the Manning Brothers show? It’s hilarious you old fart.

  4. Walter Says:

People enjoy the Manning family, what’s not to understand??

You have unique reading comprehension and a strange vocabulary. Joe wrote he would very much like to watch the Mannings review the game afterward. How that constitutes “hate,” well, Joe doesn’t know Latin that well. Maybe you can help out?

    You know, auxilium pauperis?

  6. Bucsfaninchina Says:

    What a sh!t article.

Wow you watched clips of the Mannings doing MNF. For a person who likes to know “the game behind the game” type of details that’s what you get out of this. You can easily watch the game and listen to insight from HOF QBs. And Must Be Blind is right, they haven’t had a decent crew in a while.

Hard to tell what Gronk actually does. He loves playing the “dumb guy” role, and I have a very hard time believing Brady would put up w anyone on the team not watching film.

    And… “kinky. Sounds promising.” Gross.

No, more like “What’s to understand?” A punter/sports talk radio host babbling about a long story of him and Manning in an Indiana casino while three faces in three different locations are plastered on the screen… has what to do with the game being played in Green Bay, exactly?

Might make for great sports radio but it’s not watching the game.

Joe loves and embraces the in-depth inside the Mannings could provide — after the game.

When Joe wants to watch a game, he wants to watch a game, not dudes talking about a game with the game taking up only half the screen.

  9. BA4President Says:

I thought that Gronk was being truthful about film at first, until I heard him say that he didn’t practice on Fridays. That’s when I realized the whole thing might be a joke.

  10. Devin DiPalma Says:

Good lord. Joe is allowed to have an opinion too. I personally agree, I have watched the highlights afterwards but I prefer the traditional game format to a bunch of random talking that sometimes relates to what’s going on on the screen. The Manning brothers are great but this format is not my favorite.

I also highly doubted when he said that that there was even an ounce of truth to it. Especially with the “I just run by people” comment 😂😂😂 I was rolling when he said that to be honest. Thought it was pretty clearly a joke.

  11. 1sparkybuc Says:

MNF has steadily gone downhill with the departure of Dandy Don Meredith.

  12. Buxszntkt Says:

Joe you are getting defensive , lol.
I thought the Manning brothers were very entertaining. I wouldn’t watch them during a Bucs game, I will give out that , but for most other games sure.
They give lots of insights into the game as seen by great QB’s. They may not be telling us down and distance but when my wife texts me what’s a “too deep shell?” , well she just learned something she never knew before and will retain it. Did they get the first down on that play ? Who knows and who cares , something more was learned right then.

  13. Crickett Baker Says:

Joe, no need for you to defend yourself to me. I completely agree with you. In fact, I just got into an argument with a friend when I said almost the same things you said. I also watch clips afterwards and find them entertaining. My two attempts at watching them during the game were short. They talk right through the plays and are a big distraction from the game, to me.

  14. 163doubleplay Says:

Next question should be, what kind of film does Gronk watches … ??? 😉

  15. Mort Says:

MNF broadcast sucks. It’s painful to watch. The Monday Night Manning broadcast is literally amazing. You can still watch the game. You don’t need bonehead announcers if you know what you’re looking at already. Manning actually add insight and fun discussions. It’s 100x better than the booth full of idiots.

Joe you are super wrong on this.

  16. Listnfrmafar Says:

I think we all know what films Gronk is watching and it ain’t men in uniforms.

  17. Howard Cosell Says:

MNF has steadily gone downhill with the departure of Jon Gruden.

^Fixed it for you. You’re welcome.

  18. Howard Cosell Says:

Howard also likes the comedy duo of Manning and Manning. Eli makes the perfect straight man (like Bud Abbott)

  19. Lamarcus Says:

What do you mean? Gruene was twice as worse. In Gruden eyes, everyone was a HOF player and everyone was elite. I got tired of hearing that him

  20. CarolinaBuc82 Says:

If anyone believes Gronk was being serious they must be smoking Petes hash

  21. ClodHopper Says:

I tried the Mannings show Monday too and I got lucky it was right when Gronk was on. I agree about it being sub par. But for me it was the sound. They didnt have good microphones and talking through the internet is too slow to have a smooth conversation. I did like Peyton’s insight talking about the defense schemes while they were playing but there wasnt enough of that.

  22. Bob Says:

I would prefer to watch the game with no announcers at all. Just crowd noise and what you see and hear while at the game. If you can’t hear Gene Dekerhoff, probably spelled that wrong, And the radio and tv never sync up, give me no announcers.

  23. Ftmyersbuc Says:

That manning style presentation is the future like it or not. Once the old dinos die off this is what the tiktok generation will love. In my early 30s im a tweener and like either broadcast really but i realize the younger guys loathe the traditional broascasters. Remember joe they were raised on youtube and tiktok. Attention span is small and multitasking is the norm.

  24. ArmchairGM Says:

The Monday night Manning cast is good in my opinion. It’s like a video game stream with football and two casters that know way too much about offense. They are fantastic at dissecting what the offense is doing and explaining why.

I’ll admit, they are still ironing out the wrinkles. The Mannings haven’t mastered interviews during the games and they could benefit from having someone that can do deep dives into defenses (like when they had Ray Lewis on).

It’s fun if you aren’t invested in the teams playing and they’ve definitely improved from the first week.

  25. JimmyJack Says:

Ever since ESPN took over Monday night football it has been a disaster. Right now they have a crew that is decent and tolerable. A far cry from restoring MNF to its former glory but its a step in the right direction and Im not complaining.

  26. Red86 Says:

I haven’t watched a Monday night game yet. I don’t find the Mannings announcing the game appealing. Many of their jokes aren’t that funny. Very few of their jokes does make me laugh. But, they appears to be good people. But hey, to each their own.

  27. KnoxvilleBuc Says:

    Ftmyersbuc,

I feel the same. Early 30’s but I like the old school approach calling the game. I agree with the Joe that the voices are just off. I tune into watch the game. I’m all about football but having a strong knowledgeable voice is a huge plus. The younger generations feel it as boring. And the non traditional football fans/fantasy league people want the Manning Bro’s experience and the Romo experience! That is the future of the game as well. We just have to face it and adjust like we do with the softness of the game and rule changes(which I absolutely hate).

  28. Anonymous Says:

    Whatever …. Mediation Joey 🦄

  29. DingleBerry Says:

What a shock, the “Opposite George” of the Tampa Bay sports media doesn’t like the manning brothers Monday night show.

People like the Manning broadcast for 2 reasons.

    1. The current MNF play by play commentary team is devoid of personality and is painfully boring to watch.

    2. The Manning brothers offer special insight into football, particularly on the offensive side, that you just can’t get anywhere else and have loads of personality.

Some of the guests have been misses, most have been huge hits. Russell Wilson and Gronk have probably been the best. Patrick Willis has been the worst. But the Manning show is still better than the current MNF team by a mile.

  30. DingleBerry Says:

Also… that line about Gronks lady… Could you be any more creepy? Yeesh.

  31. Ryan Says:

The Manning broadcast is way better than the normal coverage. Much more educational and entertaining

  32. Buczilla Says:

I watched the highlights of the show on YouTube. Pretty funny.

  33. David Says:

The Man Show????? Gutfeld is not even remotely similar to that garbage

  34. David Says:

    JOE
Since you didn’t watch it and you don’t know the context, no one took Gronk’s comment serious at all. He was being Gronk. He was joking around.

As far as Monday night football with the Mannings… It is fantastic!!
If you want to flip over and get play-by-play, you can, otherwise listening to the brilliant mind of Peyton Manning, and a little bit of Eli and whatever guest they happen to have, dissect a play or question a play and explain why in detail is great!!

It took a little getting used to not hearing the play-by-play but listening to Peyton with Ray Lewis and both of them with Russell Wilson the first week and Gronk week 2… it’s awesome. Love it!

I don’t know if I’ll watch it when the Bucs are playing, it’s a little distracting, but I’ll record it and hear how they dissect some of the plays afterwards

  35. David Says:

Peyton is brilliant, has seen it all, and is pretty damn funny. Honestly, They can do without Eli. Just having Peyton with an offensive and a defensive guest for a half each or both for the whole game, would be better in my opinion.
    But overall it’s great!!

Such a meaningful post coming from someone who CHOSE ‘dingleberry’ as a screen name.

  37. Redsox/Bucs1 Says:

I was shocked when I saw articles all over the web about Gronk not watching film after the appearance on the Manning show. Do these folks even listen to what they are “reporting”? I just can’t comprehend how anyone watching could honestly believe Gronk was being serious. It’s as bad as the Patriot fans getting all worked up about the spying comments. Like the show or not, its meant to be light-hearted and full of parody.

  38. adam from ny Says:

gronk was talking yang to peyton on last weeks show…

    i was liking that…gronk dgaf

  39. adam from ny Says:

    i liked madden on mnf…

loved when he talked about the o-linemen and their names…

he enjoyed admiring the o-line guys with burly o-lineman type names…

he was good…this current crew isn’t really cutting it…they just don’t bring the mustard…

    coward blowsell was good too

  40. BucsCoolade Says:

What was camille throwing at Gronk..?

Hmm.. porn CDs? Coconut oil.? ED pills..? Or just footballs..?

A nice honey can be such a help..

  41. BucsCoolade Says:

    Also..

the manning’s broadcast was DUM.. first why do the split screen ? We are watching a game , dont need to see the bros trying too hard to be entertaining… which they aren’t.
    .. mute button ON.. 😉

Channel changer.. if it happens again.
