Playoff Percentage High

September 15th, 2021

Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians.

Hey, when you are the defending Super Bowl champion, expectations through the roof are not unreasonable.

And Joe doesn’t think the powers that be at One Buc Palace brought back virtually the entire team and coaching staff just to get a wild card berth. So yeah, Joe is thinking playoffs in mid-September.

And so too are Joe’s good friends at Football Outsiders. They have already started their playoff percentages. And the Bucs lead the NFL with 89.2 percent likelihood.

The third-highest team is the slimy Saints led by Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. Football Outsiders calculates the slimy Saints’ chances of a playoff berth at 71.5 percent.

The Saints ranking is mildly surprising, but only mildly so. They bled talent in free agency and of course lost Drew Brees. But that Saints team is still very talented and coached-up by Payton. Winston doesn’t have to be near elite; if he refrains from bone headed mistakes that Saints team is dangerous. My early best guess is that the Saints and Bucs will split their regular season games.

    the saints at 71%????

says it all. don’t believe the hype.

week by week, step by step

  3. Mike Says:

You’ve got to stop referring to Winston as America’s Quarterback. That is just nonsense. He’s no longer a Buc so you should just refer to him as Jameis Winston, starting QB of the New Orleans Saints.

how about jameis, the ra*ist, winston

Before the season started I would have given the Bucs, Rams, and Bills the best odds.

I wouldn’t give any team in the NFC West good odds. SF and SEA are surprising. I’d give the best odds in that group to LAR.

Wasn’t that long ago that 3 weeks into a season we were talking about the next draft! Great to be a Bucs fan! Go Bucs!

  7. Swampbuc Says:

The Saints are good. I think they beat the Bucs when they get back in the Dome for their first real home game of the year.

  8. ocala Says:

I don’t think the Saints beat us. We have a better roster and the GOAT.
Toughest game of the regular season looks like game 3.

  9. Wild Bill Says:

Haha. Before the season started all the talk was about going 17 and 0 and winning the super bowl. One close call in the first game against a much lower ranked team and now we are talking about a split with NO. 16 regular season games to go. What does your crystal ball say now? I say 12 and 4 unless Brady gets hurt. Too early to predict playoff results until we know who the likely opponents are and their season performance. And if the Bucs continue to play like the first game they might only be a wild card. If that. You know what’s coming. Everybody is gonna play a version of what Dallas did until we prove we can beat it. New Orleans has a strong dink and dunk offense plus a tremendous running back.

Football Outsiders need to get up to date. They used the OLD Bucs logo in their report.
