Ira Kaufman’s 18 Predictions For The 2021 Bucs

September 9th, 2021

Yes, Ira drinks Bromosa from Big Storm Brewing Co.

The Sage of Tampa Bay Sports, Ira Kaufman, made 18 Buccaneers season predictions on his latest podcast.

If you’re not among the many thousands who listened, you can read them all right here.

*Mike Evans leads Bucs in receiving yards — 1,179 yards.

*Rushing leader: Ronald Jones with 933 yards.

*Sack Totals: Jason Pierre-Paul 9, Shaq Barrett 11, Devin White 7, Joe Tryon-Shoyinka 7.

*What 30-and-older Buccaneer will start to look old or fade this season? Rob Gronkowski.

*Gronk plays more games than O.J. Howard, says Ira. Gronk plays 13 and Howard plays 7.

*Biggest positive 2021 surprise is Mike Edwards leading the Bucs in interceptions with 4.

*Biggest negative 2021 surprise is the Bucs’ run defense dropping to 10th-ranked in the NFL after consecutive seasons as the best in the league. Sage thinks Will Gholston and Ndamukong Suh will fall slightly in their play against the run.

*Antonio Brown drama will emerge at some point this season.

*The Buccaneers will have a 7-1 record entering their bye week.

*The Bucs’ final record will be 14-3, with losses to the Rams, Falcons & Bills.

*Tampa Bay will not win the Super Bowl.

*Devin White will deliver “the finishing touches on a complete linebacker who is almost certain to make his first Pro Bowl and possibly an All-Pro berth. And by that I mean he wants to be the best.”

Joe had several different calls on the season. And those are in the podcast, which you can enjoy below.

**Bonus pick. Ira’s favorite Asian restaurant is Zen Forest in New Port Richey.**

  1. Medicated Pete Says:

Pete’s predicting a Superbowl type military flyover before the game starts

  2. zzbuc Says:

Majority thinks like Ira, that the Bucs will not repeat. I think the only solid argument is that is VERY rare to repeat, that being said, on the other side is hard for me to fin a better roster than the Bucs……I think that Kansas LA and Buffalo are next….but not very close……. Of course then you have injuries, covid, bad calls for zebras, all the things we know……But on paper I still think the Bucs are the best roster on the game.,…..by far

  3. Bird Says:

Take over on jpp sacks. He gets double digit

Take way over on gronks number of games
Gronk aint fading. Dude is not that old and bucs giving him the days off he did not get in new england. Also , he was able to train in offseason and not coming off couch like last year .

  4. Casual Observer Says:

    Agree with zz.

  5. Guadalajara, Mexico Fan Says:

I respect what Ira said. Just I do not agree on Gholston and Suh forecast. I believe the Bucs will keep having a very strong defense against the run.

  6. Buc1987 Says:

I predict that Gronk blows up compared to last season.

  7. Shecky Says:

Worth noting Brady’s career record against the Bills is an absolutely ridiculous 32-3.

  8. Sumosam Says:

I believe the Bucs will be strong against the run again #1 or # 2. If you think Suh is dropping off, you would be guessing because of his age. Suh will retire when he knows it’s time. The man is a beast and kept this thing together for us last year. Gohlston is better than he has ever been and Devin white is hitting his best. Zen Forrest is a great restaurant for sure for all you New Port Richey people. It’s a hidden gem. Ira’s the best.

  9. Craig Says:

It does take a lot, including luck, to win a Stupor Bowl. It is a close call, if the Bucs can repeat; I’m not sure of any prognostication.

    The Bills are scary, though.

  10. Bird Says:

I predict a lot more hurry up this year

Brady knows the playbook. Good luck opposing defenses that are getting slashed with pass and run and no time to regroup in huddle / substitutions

  11. Brandon Says:

I think the trio of Barrett, JPP, and JTS combine for no less than 30. Cut them however you want but they will be on the field plenty but also rested and teams will be forced to throw even more than last season. Coverage will be better, the ball will be held for a split second more, Vita will push the pocket… the sacks will happen.

    I think Jones goes over a 1000.

My prediction of Mike Edwards being a starting safety was made as far back as the draft… that’s already true.

  12. Erik Hesson - Fine Artist - City of St Pete - Founder of IAMSTPETE.community Says:

With all due respect to the Sage, I believe Ira is going to be proven wrong on many of these weak predictions…

I predict 20-0. And I predict that the Bucs will win 3 out of the next 4 Superbowls at least, before Brady calls it a career. Starting with this season.

  13. Adrnagy Says:

We will repeat. And we all will drink bromosas.

Once in the playoffs …we have the most dangerous weapon (leftwich).

  14. Laura Moo Says:

    La Tortuga esta mal!

  15. SteveM Says:

    Ira,

Wha,t the Bucs won’t win the Super Bowl ?
I love your writing, but in this case your being a negative
Nancy. The season hasn’t even started yet !

As I posted earlier, I’ve been dreaming of “with the 32nd pick in the first round, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select” …………..!

Same prediction as last year for me!

  17. Leighroy Says:

The 14-3 record prediction is fairly inconsistent with the rest of those low-ball predictions.

  18. SteveM Says:

Maybe when TB12 sees Ira’s negative Super Bowl prediction,
it will motivate him more to win.

  19. An Erection for Sacks Says:

    I predict 18 wins total.

    15-2 Regular Season
    3-0 Playoffs

    GO BUCS!!!

  20. PassingThru Says:

    *sigh*

    Is it 8:20 yet?

  21. Joe in Michigan Says:

Vea’s gonna be back, but the run defense will be worse? The Bucs will be ahead late in most games, and teams won’t abandon the run? We’ll see.

  22. ocala Says:

If you are picking the Bucs vs the rest of 31 teams in the NFL as to will win the Super Bowl. The logical bet would be the 31 other teams.
However, the Bucs have the best roster and the GOAT. The Bucs make the most sense to win the Super Bowl, especially if you think they will win 14 games and likely have the #1 seed in the NFC.

  23. SlyPirate Says:

    Top 3 Predictions
    1. I will enjoy this season
    2. I will eat and drink a lot on Sundays
    3. Bucs will win a lot of games
    4. The Bucs will beat the Saints

  24. 2021 Year of the GOAT Says:

Ira Kaufman predictions need to be posted in the locker….. motivational thoughts for the whole team …. TO PROVE HIM WRONG …. GO BUCS !!!

  25. D-Rome Says:

I think these are all fair predictions. Winning back to back Super Bowls is extremely difficult to do. The Bucs have a great opportunity this year though.

  26. D-Rome Says:

SlyPirate, your predictions are the only ones that should matter! Enjoy the season! It’ll be great either way.

  27. Darin Says:

Jack those sack totals up Ira. 7 coming tonight!

  28. Winny Testaverde Says:

I predict the beloved Sage will shart ( due to his exotic diet schemes and ticklish colon ) at a Big Storm Brewery Watch Party…causing an early exit due to wearing white or pastel colored shorts.

  29. ClodHopper Says:

My favorite Asian restaurant is the Chinese food from Hy-Vee, my favorite grocery store’s eatery.

  30. Buczilla Says:

I didn’t see any predictions on major injuries and we’re still not winning the superbowl? Who the hell is supposed to beat us? Love ya Ira, but c’mon man!

  31. Tampabaybucfan Says:

TBBF isn’t much into predictions……but if he was…he’d say it’s likely the Bucs don’t repeat…..TBBF often hopes he’s wrong.

  32. JimmyJack Says:

The prediction of our rush defense slipping is a concern. If the run D struggles so does the rest of our defense. Stopping Elliot will be a good 1st step but since the Cowboys are missing interior lineman we might not get our first real test til weeks 3-4. Rams/Patriots.

  33. orlbucfan Says:

Hey Joes: OT but you guys had an article about the Bucs major nemesis: the zebras. Any way you can repost it? They are playing the Cowturds tonight, and you know what that means. Thanks!

  34. fern Says:

my prediction Ira is a jagoff
THE RAMS?? LOL China doll Bradford will break with that offensive line.

  35. David Says:

    Buccaneers 38
    Cowboys 13

  36. David Says:

Why are people bitching about a 14 – 3 season? Yes we want undefeated but you got to ease the expectation a little bit..

And why are so many down on the Rams? The Rams and the Packers are going to be damn good.

  37. Buxszntkt Says:

LOL Winny, I love it, yes too many bromosas and hot wings , IRA is off to the can!

  38. PassingThru Says:

    Predictions:

    1. Tom Brady led teams frequently do better after the bye week, not before. The stumble will occur before the bye, not after.

    2. Age won’t grind down Gronk, I anticipate an injury though. That’s the one thing that has dogged his career. Hopefully it won’t be season-ending.

    3. Split against New Orleans. Yes, no Brees and a net loss of talent, but there’s still plenty of talent on that roster plus a smart coach.

    4. A loss against the Rams and some third rate team.

    5. Best record in the conference.

    6. Rematch against KC in the Super Bowl. Bucs win a nail-biter.

    Asian Eats:

Surprisingly the best Cantonese cuisine is in Vancouver, not Hong Kong. Scary, you can almost pick a random and not go wrong. Mandarin? Not a fan no matter where, it’s too heavy.

Best Korean BBQ is Parks in LA.

Best Japanese is Nobu Downtown in NYC, but bring a Brinks truck.

  39. mg Says:

    Tampa – Tennessee
    coach bill would be b.s.

  40. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

One comment. SCREW Brees and Dungy!

  41. G.Marosi Says:

Go Buc’s back to back baby!

  42. Bird Says:

Khalil davis and jaelon darden not active

  43. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Black National Anthem, isn’t that special.
