Does Tom Brady Get Enough Credit?

September 23rd, 2021

Not enough respect?

The dude has eight rings. Before he hangs it up with the Bucs, he will likely own damn near every respectable passing record known to man.

Still, when you watch the national NFL shows each and every day there is a new quarterback flavor of the day.

Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, throws five touchdowns, Kyler Murray is the second coming, drama queen Aaron Rodgers resurrects himself, Derek Carr is the new Brett Favre, Big Ben still slings it, Josh Allen will break your fingers if you don’t catch right.

And Tua takes over South Beach, Mac Jones is the next NFL star, Zach Wilson and his mom, Pat Mahomes slings in, Lamar Jackson runs it, Jalen Hurts is the new superhero in Philly, Matt Stafford is underrated, Trey Lance is the future … and on and on and on.

You get the idea.

So here is a 44-year old man who single-handedly turned around the NFL’s fire hydrant in a dog park, leading the Bucs to a Super Bowl title. And he’s on pace for 76 — 76! — touchdowns this year and… yawn.

That was the subject of a segment on “Good Morning Football” seen and heard weekday mornings on NFL Network.

Retired receiver Victor Cruz firmly believes people are numb to Brady. And that’s why he doesn’t get much run compared to the Quarterback Flavor of the Day.

“It’s scary to the point that he can throw nine touchdowns and we don’t even talk about this man because we are used to it,” Cruz said. “Talk to us when we are in the Super Bowl. Talk to use when the playoffs begin because that’s when we start talking about Tom Brady.”

Cruz is a bit jealous. He admitted most NFL players — like himself — when they get to Brady’s age, they are instead wearing blazers to work and playing golf, not shoulder pads and a helmet.

Kyle Brandt also believes Brady isn’t getting the deserved run. Brandt remembered when Michael Jordan was winning six titles, you couldn’t get away from someone shoving Jordan down your throat.

But Brady? Yawn.

Joe had someone come after him on Twitter this week hyping Kyler Murray — who Joe likes and he’s entertaining as hell — saying Murray is having a better year than Brady.

Time out, dude! Stop! If Brady throws for 76 touchdowns, don’t even come at Joe with that noise that Murray is having a better year.

The full Brady discussion “Good Morning Football” is in the video below.

  4. BucsCoolade Says:

Pump the brakes.. tommy can have a bad game then watch the narrative.. lol

  5. Bojim Says:

    The Brady haters. Please ignore.

  6. BF2TD Says:

    Um…..he has 7 rings….??

  7. Rod Munch Says:

    I think Brady will survive.

Plus he does seem to feed off the smallest hint of disrespect. Like when Manning, at his HOF speech, called out Brady for a bit of comedy. Did you see Brady doubled over laughing? No. You saw Brady give Manning the death smirk, that told me everything, that Brady decided at that moment that he would take away Manning’s last meaningful record, the TD record.

  8. SufferingSince76 Says:

No, he doesn’t. And it’s great these talking heads keep providing Brady with more motivation to kick some butt.

  9. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Lovie Howell’s defense is ALIVE AND WELL tonight in Houston…lol

  10. Winny Testaverde Says:

Bucs likely don’t make the playoffs without Brady last season. Then again, Has Ben green horn likely doesn’t stumble onto the message section(s) either. Probably about a push/wash.

  11. JimmyJack Says:

I get the feeling Brady is chasing records this year. He will likely shatter quite a few of them and will take home and MVP award. There will be plenty of recognition along the way.

  12. IrishMist Says:

Off topic, but McCaffrey out of the game with a hammy.

  13. Rod Munch Says:

If McCaffrey is out for any time, it’s a big deal. Panthers defense looks pretty good, but their offense isn’t going to do much without MC.

Not sure why someone would think tonight is the night to call out Lovie. This Houston defense has no talent, if that defense can keep it even remotely close to being competitive, he’d be doing a hell of a job.

  14. Rod Munch Says:

Houston QB Davis Mills looked terrible in the game vs the Bucs backups, really really bad. They’re talking about on TV how you have to take shots down the field, but he was terrible. If he throws it, he’s going to end up with 5 INTs.

  15. Rod Munch Says:

Panthers are really racking up the wins vs bad teams. The Jets are terrible. Houston is terrible. The Saints were missing half their coaches and lost a couple of defensive starters, plus on offense, the Saints have no legitimate NFL receiving options, so they just blitzed on every play.

The downside of teams like the Panthers getting a bunch of easy wins, is they start thinking they can win, and they’ll generally start pulling off some upsets vs better teams. If the stupid Texans could somehow pull out a victory, it would be huge, since it should send the Panthers into an early season death spiral. But that’s really unlikely.

  16. Rod Munch Says:

Final observation, there are too many fat people in the commercials now. It’s pretty disgusting. I don’t care if you’re fat or not, but have some self respect and don’t allow yourself to be filmed.

  17. JimmyJack Says:

Houston Texans maybe arent as bad as many made them out to be. They were nevk and neck with Clevland on Sunday.

Of course they lost their QB and dont look very capable on offense without one. Maybe they can help us and win on defense. Sorry Lovie Smith haters but they are making some big plays and dont actually look half bad out there tonight.

  18. Youngbucs Says:

I love #20 break downs on buccaneers.com! Shows how Brady identifies coverage pre snap. But after the snap also adjust to the disguises so quickly. It’s levels to playing QB I’ve said it before also online blocking assignments.

  19. Buxszntkt Says:

@ Rod Muncher, dude I’ve always found you purty f-in annoying, posts too long. I have to admit, this post is funny.
I actually had to switch my Bucs seats because the dude next to me was so obese he overflowed a good 20% into one of my seats ! Plus doing the man spread meant his fat sweaty thighs would touch my legs unless I swung them to the other side .
Stadiums should really make fat people seats and charge a premium. I’m sure some normal people would pay for the fat seats too.
Dude wears a mask this year cuz he knows he is high risk !

  20. SOEbuc Says:

I watch his entire games instead of just highlights so I don’t give a sh!t about his credit. He loves being the underdog because he loves to stuff it up in ppl azz!!!

They read scripts on these natty BSPN TV in case anyone doesn’t know. Not Analyzing. Media.

  21. Joe Says:

They read scripts on these natty BSPN TV

    Um, it’s not BSPN. smh

  22. David Says:

We need to see Kay Adams in a pen playing with the baby goat 🐐

  23. David Says:

On another note, Carolinas Defense is for real!
    Offense is lacking

  24. Rod Munch Says:

Carolina plays Dallas next week, so we’ll see how that defense does. So far they haven’t played anyone. They had the Jets, they had the Saints who have no NFL-talent at WR, and Houston with a 3rd round rookie QB. In fairness to Mills, his drive before the half was damn good. I figured the game would be pretty dull in the 2nd half so I watched Best Little Whorehouse in Texas instead, and based on the box score and play by play, I made the right choice.

  25. SOEbuc Says:

BSPN TV is all the same.

  26. BillyBucoff Says:

Ironic that your irritated about fat people with a last name “MUNCH”.
    Sorry found that funny.

I live in Texas which is the most obese state.
Noticed it on the plane back from SC last night.

Thank God there are no beaches in Dallas Ft Worth.

  27. Roy T. Buford Says:

No comparison on anything favorable is even close when Brady enters the discussion. I always marveled at his talent but couldn’t stand him, probably because he was such a force in himself. So glad he’s on our team.

  28. Listnfrmafar Says:

Oneilbucyall thinks he gets too much. Keep the status quo. Nothing is better to watch than the underrated TB12.

  29. Buczilla Says:

People are just numb to Brady kicking butt and he’s expected to be great. Murray is fun to watch, but he’s a couple notches below Brady man.

  30. Listnfrmafar Says:

The only award he doesn’t have is a gold metal and that’s only because football isn’t a Olympic sport.

  31. BucsCoolade Says:

Topic got side tracked.. fat is fat… really fat is really fat…. kinda fat.. chubby fat .. lazy fat .. dum and fat .. really smart and fat..? No I’m not buying that. but it’s fun and juicy.. hehe.. push em together with some coconut oil.. haha

Back to Brady… hes really different.. guys are posting how they hated him before… ya 20 years are cool with stud QB.. he wins. He grinds. Enjoy.
