Could Tom Brady Have A Worse 2021?

September 3rd, 2021

Fewer touchdowns in 2021?

It helps to do research when gambling. And when looking at some of Tampa Bay’s odds, Joe can understand why someone would bet the over on several Bucs bets.

Take Frank Schwab of Yahoo! Sports.

For example, Schwab is taking the Bucs’ season-win total under (the over is 11.5 at -165 odds at BetMGM, or 12.5 at +115). Why not take the over (remember, 17 games this fall)? Schwab believes a Super Bowl hangover is a real thing and the fact that the Bucs were 7-5 at one point last year spooks him.

Schwab also doesn’t like the season total of touchdown passes when it comes to park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller-coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, helmet-tossing, football-punting, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady,

Remember, Brady threw for 40 last year. His over/under for touchdown passes is 36.5. Schwab is taking the under here, too.

But here is where research comes in. Someone as sharp as Schwab should have easily picked up on this. First, Antonio Brown is not just healthy, but will be with the Bucs for a full season. Also, the Bucs hope O.J. Howard is healthy enough for a full season, too.

And it doesn’t take four minutes on Google to learn that Brady got hot right before the bye because it was then that he figured out Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians’ offense.

For Joe, Brady should be throwing for more than 40 touchdowns. Yeah, Joe typed that.

The bet that Schwab does like with the Bucs is the Super Bowl odds at +700. Schwab believes the NFC is soft this year outside of the Bucs.

Something tells me that legalizing sports gambling is gonna turn the NFL into professional boxing.

  2. Beeej Says:

Guarantee all Brady thinks about 24/7 is:
    A: going undefeated
    B: league MVP
C: Beating Bellicheat in game 4 like a red headed stepchild

I don’t think it’s a stretch to see his stats go down yardage-wise. If we play to the talent level on this team, we should be sitting on leads in the 4th quarter more often than not. If we run the ball better, it’s not that far-fetched.
As to wins, give me the over baby!

“For Joe, Brady should be throwing for more than 40 touchdowns…”.

A healthy OJ, an in-shape Gronk, AB for a whole season, ME on a career year, Brady comfortable with the offense. Yea, I agree 40 is a piece of cake.

The biggest “if” to that is “if” TB stays healthy, that the Oline makes very few mistakes. Any complacency with the Oline could very well ruin this season of immense promise.

    2 touchdowns per game is 34….I would think 36 1/2 is a done deal…..

  6. mark2001 Says:

He could have a worse year…certainly….if he doesn’t play the entire season. Other than that, I doubt it.

  7. Alanbucsfan Says:

So Evans, Godwin, Brown, Gronk, Brate, Howard, Miller, Johnson, not to mention the RB’s , are going to catch no more than 36 td passes this year… I’ll take the over.

  8. Allen Says:

Listen, the only risk here is injury to Brady or multiple injuries on the O-line. If Brady plays 17 games both the win total and TDs are over

  9. PSL Bob Says:

Agree with Allen. Take the over on both wins and TDs.

Why does the supposed experts in the media and other forms of NFL analysts not look at last season for the Bucs from the week 14 game against Minnesota, forward until the Super Bowl beat down of the Chiefs.
That is a much more realistic view for the 2021 season.

The first 13 weeks, the Bucs were a Jambalaya of good and bad, with Brady not even knowing the play book.

And even then, the Bucs were 6-2 in the first 8 games.

Take the over, very simple really.

    GO BUCS!!!!

Let the doubters keep doubting. Dak is supposed to just show up for the season, and be better than Brady. They all are. League MVP’s, throwing for 50 TD’s, and 5000 yards, all of them, except for poor old man Brady. He can’t possibly do better than last year. Dak will be running rings around him come Thursday. Brady might need a nap before half time. Keep talking, Tom’s getting so old he can’t even hear the naysayers. Poor Tom, poor us, why even watch. All these young bucks are going to out play our old Buc. Do we even have a chance against such young talent?

His hand signal is 4 – it means he’s gonna win 4 superbowls.

    3 more to go

I don’t think fans can comprehend how difficult it is to repeat..Brady or not. You get every teams absolute best shot and then some. its great for fans to say they know we will repeat. But the action itself by the players will be very difficult. There will be blood and injuries. It sometimes comes down to..who is healthy after a long season. We shall see……..
