Tom Brady And Turning 44

August 4th, 2021

Fun week for Bucs QB.

The past few days have been big days for Bucs quarterback Tom Brady.

Did you hear he turned 44 yesterday? No? So you were trapped in a cave without WiFi, huh? Joe was sick of reading about Brady turning 44 before the Bucs had finished their warmups for the practice inside the Glazer Shed. And that wasn’t quite 9 a.m.

Now that Brady is six years away from AARP eligibility, he seems to be a bit of a changed man. In New England, the guy was tighter than a drum, rarely said anything remotely interesting much less revealing and seemed the perfect puppet for Bill Belicheat’s drab, Nixonian, humanity-is-our-enemy world.

But then came tequila-shooting Brady tossing the Vince Lombardi Trophy, there was Brady losing his jet skis, there was Brady forgetting what down it was, there was Brady cracking jokes at the President at the White House. Who is this guy?

Brady was asked about that after practice last week.

He didn’t deny he’s a bit looser these days with Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians.

“It’s nice that I’ve found my voice more,” Brady said. “I really enjoy being around my teammates, my coaches – it’s been a different environment.

“[I’m] just really enjoying the experience of playing football, playing with this group of guys.”

“I think all of the above, it’s nice that I’ve found my voice more. I really enjoy being around my teammates, my coaches – it’s been a different environment. [I’m] just really enjoying the experience of playing football, playing with this group of guys.”

Now something else important in Brady’s life happened over the weekend. Brady — and yeah, you were probably beaten over the head about this, too — he stepped onto an NFL field for the first time 21 years ago on July 31.

It was a preseason game broadcast on NBC with Al Michaels.

Joe’s good friend Todd Wright messaged Joe about this: What if Brady and the Bucs have a perfect season? You know that’s Brady’s unspoken goal right now. Let’s say that happens and Brady, after the season, says, “I’ve done all I can do as a football player. Goodbye.”

If that happens, Michaels, who is scheduled to call this winter’s Super Bowl in Los Angeles for NBC, would broadcast Brady’s first and last game.

If Brady has to retire, how cool would that be?

Personally, Joe is good with the Bucs winning another Super Bowl with a one-loss regular season and Brady sticking around another six years (so long as he can still throw) chasing that undefeated dream.

Brady quarterbacking the Bucs still seems like a wild dream to Joe. A dream Joe doesn’t want to wake up from.

The answer is clear….Tom Brady is having extreme fun with this team under the leadership of Bruce Arians…
I can’t get over his comments at the White House…….ribbing Joe (the other Joe)

The old cliche certainly fits for Brady because he legitimately looks like he’s having fun. Love what you do: Do what you love.

an Undefeated Season would make you the elite of the elite; after all, its only been done ONCE in the history of the NFL. No Bucs fan would ever forget that. Not sure I would trade that for even one more year of TB, even as sacrilegious as that might sound.

Barring substantial injuries, no reason this team can’t have a perfect season with Brady at the helm. That would cement his status as the GOAT and put the Bucs on a pedestal never, ever envisioned by Bucs faithful. Damn, just thinking about it makes me weak in the knees.

It may have been on this site before; But just read an interesting stat. Drew Brees and Russell Wilson have 8 wins against NFC teams in the playoffs. Tom Brady now has 9 wins against NFC teams in the playoffs. The 3 last year plus the 6 Super Bowl wins.

Next and last up in his generation to overtake is Aaron Rodgers with 10 against NFC teams.

  6. Mike Says:

Perfect season or not, Brady wants to win the next Super Bowl and then go for the three peat.

I remember when I turned 44… I did your mom… Good times, son.
