Saturday For The Bubble Players

August 17th, 2021

Details plans for Saturday.

Last week Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians believed he already knew roughly 35 players who will be on the Bucs’ final-53 man roster next month.

And it seems as if most of those guys will have Saturday night off.

Arians expects a very physical two days of practice with the Titans who come to town tomorrow for controlled scrimmages leading up to the preseason game Saturday night.

Arians hinted because of the expected physical nature of the scrimmages, he is not keen on getting many of his players beaten up a third time in four days. So yesterday he told the local pen and mic club he doesn’t think any starter will play on Saturday night.

In answering a question about the possibility of Tom Brady playing Saturday, Arians admitted he very much doubted it and added, “We probably won’t play any starters.”

So Saturday is for the bubble players. Guys who don’t have jobs locked up.

Joe is very interested to see how Ryan Griffin and Kyle Trask play.

Last week Griffin didn’t have the best of evenings against Cincinnati’s camp meat. Facing future Skyline Chili ladlers, Trask, though No. 4 on the Bucs’ depth chart, fared better.

I mean this makes sense, I don’t see what was so surprising in the last post about this topic.

Would your rather your starters play 2 weeks in a row then have a 19 day live-rep layover? Or get some livelier hitting in practice now, space out the starters to week 3 and ease their way into the season with a better cadence?

4-10-12 “days off” between vs. 7-19 days. Credit to BA and Vrabel for planning accordingly and making the arrangement.

Since our Special Teams coverage unit is still deplorable, Pete told Bruce that he’s trying out for gunner on Saturday

I think it’s interesting that BA used the number 35 for players who’ve basically already made the final 53 roster. As I look at the current roster, I think that the number is actually closer to 45, maybe even 46 or 47. There just aren’t that many spots up for grabs on this SB team; we’re pretty solid in just about all position groups.

Oh ! Another great reason to pay regular season ticket prices for no name scrimmages
    Yawn!
    Spare us the charade

Good thing most of these guys are on scholarships…..don’t want to take out a student loan for this occupation.

I know it’s pointless to point this out anymore because you have a deaf ear for your readers, but have some class and show some respect once in a great while.

I’m sure once upon a time you had a dream of one day becoming a respected journalist, I mean I know it hasn’t happened yet, but a fella can dream, right?
