Referees Were Not Admitting Fault

August 20th, 2021

Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians.

Joe thought the Bucs’ multimedia crew caught a gem of a comment from a referee. Instead, Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians set Joe straight.

In the first installment of this season’s “In The Current,” which is a Bucs’ in-house video production series similar to “Hard Knocks,” Joe Tryon was mic’ed up for the first preseason game.

It was in this game that the zebras had an atrocious call on Tryon when he recorded his first NFL sack. Tryon was hit with a 15-yard personal foul for what the referee told Arians was that Tryon’s “bodyweight” was too much on Bengals quarterback Brandon Allen.

Joe won’t rehash what a disgusting call that was. But in “In The Current” video, it appears that after the play, the umpire of the crew told Tryon, “I think we may have screwed that up.”

The implication being that the umpire was basically telling Tryon the flag he was called for, “Our bad.”

Joe began to ask Arians about the umpire’s comment yesterday and Arians stopped Joe in his tracks.

Arians said the quote from the umpire was about ball placement, not the penalty. Arians had heard the full clip (not on the video) of the conversation between the umpire and Tryon. The audio clip used in the video, per Arians, had nothing to do with the penalty.

Joe wanted to clear that up after writing a story about it yesterday.

It may not have been about the penalty, but it damn sure fit the situation!

Why would a referee admit making a mistake on ball placement to Tryon……

Whether it was or wasn’t… Bruce wants Joe to put these guys down like Suh does and possibly strip the ball…and believe me, Suh could really plant them as he did in the older days, if he wanted to. But again…nothing but penalty flags in the game today.

To me it sounded pretty clear the referee was talking about the personal foul on the sack.

The one area Realist had a valid point. Occasionally BA can absolutely throw out some total BS. Just saying. Lol .

So the Bucs video team putting out some fake news.

Good for them. This is the NFL, it’s entertainment, it’s not real life. So you do some creative editing to completely change the context of an event, it’s not the ‘real’ media doesn’t do that every single day.

You may have hit on something here!

Certainly much cheaper than “bread and circuses” and far more effective in controlling the masses.

There are more than a few well known “names” in modern history who would agree.
