“I Can’t Take My Eyes Off Devin White”

July 14th, 2021

Film study.

Joe was totally blown away last year in the postseason. Yeah, of course blown away that the Bucs won it all!

But the play of inside linebacker Devin White against the slimy Saints, against the Packers and against the Chiefs, Joe thought it was like watching Derrick Brooks in his prime.

White was everywhere. Joe means everywhere. He played like a man possessed. Pass coverage. Run-stopping. Blitzing. It was beautiful.

Joe has already pointed out that White played better (and against far superior competition) in his first playoffs than Ray Lewis did in his first playoffs. It’s true!

If White plays like that in the regular season, we’re talking about a Defensive Player of the Year award. That’s how absolutely dominant he was.

In the video below, Brian Baldinger of NFL Network gets all worked up highlighting White’s play last year.

The way White played when he returned from being quarantine after testing positive with The Sickness, how could you not get stoked watching a defender raise hell like that?

White is a total Alpha Male, throwback NFL Linebacker.
He truly loves the game, and plays it like a Man possessed.
His pass coverage has been improving as he gains more NFL experience.
    I love watching him play!

  2. Stanglassman Says:

My sentiments exactly with that headline. I found myself just watching White the whole game. I haven’t done that since Lawrence Tayler or Warren Sapp.

  3. SlyPirate Says:

    Brooks = White

That’s a tough comparison for me. Different systems, LB positions, physical traits, strengths.

If you want t compare White to an all time great, it’s Ray Lewis.

  4. Cobraboy Says:

Seems like yesterday the casual fans were suffering from The Vapors over 2st Round MLB.

  5. pick6 Says:

has the athleticism of Brooks\Lavonte with the swagger of Sapp. let’s hope he lives up to those lofty comparisons but he’s off to an amazing start. it’s a shame the team wasted Lavonte’s best years on awful seasons….this franchise is building a legacy at the Linebacker position that is among the league’s best, with at least one All-Pro caliber LB on the roster for 25+ years other than the gap between Brooks’ exit and Lavonte’s 2nd season. Longer depending on how you view Hardy Nickerson, and it’ll continue for another decade with White

Joe didn’t want to draft him,

  11. Oneilbuc Says:

    Great linebacker!!!!

  12. Miller5252 Says:

It was a great video on White until about 6 seconds left in it….. holy crap!! Ole Baldinger needs to get that pinky cut off or fixed!!! Made me forget about everything I just watched when he lifted up his right hand and his pinky ain’t vertical…… that dang thing is darn near horizontal!!! Now I have to watch the video a few more times so I don’t forget everything he talks about once that thing pops up at the end!!🤣🤣 good lordy man!!!

  13. Craig Says:

If Licht keeps picking upgrades like him, we have a dynasty in the works. He has already hit on Wirfs, Winfield, Vea and several others that makes it look like a sure thing.

  14. Yossarian Says:

The guy is a real life version of Terry Tate. When he is mic’ed up, he’s hilarious.
