Bigger Year For Antonio Brown

July 10th, 2021

Better in 2021?

One doesn’t need to be a scientist to see things coming together for a talented Bucs receiver.

(“Talented Bucs receiver.” That’s sort of redundant. The Bucs have one of the deepest receivers pools in NFL history. Joe could see the Nos. 3-5 receivers easily starting for several other teams.)

Furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing Antonio Brown had a nice half-season and postseason with the Bucs. He had Super Bowl touchdown on a sick route that he later claimed he initially broke the wrong way (if you believe that, it still doesn’t take away he snapped a dude’s ankles with the move).

Brown had 62 targets last year, fourth-most on the team in the regular season. Remember he only played half the season. So obviously he was a favorite of park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller-coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady.

One reason may have been Brown didn’t drop a pass.

Now one PFF tribe medicine man yesterday Twittered out a graphic of four receivers he believes will improve in 2021. Included is Brown.

Joe thinks that’s reasonable.

Of course, Brown playing a full season should give him better numbers, but there is also the rust factor.

Foot-rubbing, car-littering Rob Gronkowski looked washed up early last season after a year off from football. He was a different man late in the season than the Gronk who early on looked like he had lead feet.

Joe believes the same will be true for Brown. He hadn’t played in over a year. He gradually shook the rust off.

Give Brown a full offseason to prepare and he very well could light up opposing defenses like he did through his last six seasons in Pittsburgh.

Yes…..Brown will improve….he didn’t catch his first TD as a Buc until week 15…..imagine him starting the season in game-shape!!!

  2. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

It is hard to believe we will be better, but we will, especially Brown.
We must remember that he hadn’t played in over a year.
Who can forget the way he turned the KC Defender around in the end zone, when he caught his Super Bowl TD ?
Tom Brady has never had as many weapons, as he does now.

    Go Bucs

  4. Medicated Pete Says:

When Evans & Godwin go down w/ sprained gizzards, AB is gonna light it up 🔥

  5. Casual Observer Says:

Agree. Brown will have a terrific year.

  6. Beeej Says:

WR’s are forever pulling things, nice that we have this depth.

  7. Jason Says:

“where does he get those wonderful toys?”

    Jason Licht = Lucius Fox.

  8. ModHairKen Says:

Is there any doubt that this is the deepest team in franchise history? Four legitimate starting RBs. Three Superstar, not just good, WRs. The best DT/NG combo. The best LB duo. A Top 5 CB. A Top 10 K. The best RT in the NFL. The best LT/LG combo. The best C. Two of the best pass rushers. The all time greatest QB on league history. The deepest and largest coaching staff currently. Hell, even a great P.

What is the common denominator? Well, there are two: the Glazer family and Jason Licht.

I hope everyone let’s this season play out one moment at a time and really enjoys the highs and the lows as they watch this group of almost 100 men and women pursue football immortality.

    With full stadiums.

  9. Beeej Says:

We could lose Evans, Godwin and AB…..and STILL field a better receiving corp than the Patriots

Could it be a more exciting time to be a Buc fan?

Our guys are not just gushing talent, they have experience and the tremendous desire to be part of something historic. To become a “benchmark”.

The Lightning have showed the Bucs the way to history. Win another one Bucs and this town will truly have to change it’s name to “Champa”.

“Could it be a more exciting time to be a Buc fan?”

Stpete…nope and it’s so much better nowadays than coming on JBF every day and reading all the angst.

    We deserve all this fun.

One reason may have been Brown didn’t drop a pass.

That’s because he was hardly ever where he was supposed to be.

  13. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Who will they take passes away from to give to Brown? Evans? Our best WR? Godwin? Who may turn out better than Evans eventually?

    And our Coach.

  15. Iamabuc Says:

We got to be the envy of all other teams. I mean, having three #1’s WR in our team and having Tomas Patrick Freaking Brady throwing at them!!….of course they all are!!

  16. SB Says:

    Didn’t drop a pass! PFFFFFFFT!
Pro Football Reference says he had a catch % of 74%.
You can believe the Irish dudes if you want to.

  17. Eddie Marz Says:

Brown is a Super Star, flat out. I love all our guys, they all bring something different to the table. Makes it very difficult to defend, especially with Tom Brady throwing. Good luck trying to stop them, with their TE’s and running backs. GO BUCS!

  18. Buc-em-up84 Says:

How could you guys put these other receivers in Anonio Brown’s category. Disrespectful

  19. SlyPirate Says:

    Evans, Godwin, AB

    That’s ridiculous.

(Brady must laugh his ass off every time he looks at the Bucs depth chart.)

  20. 6throundpick Says:

Yup. And if there are injuries, AB can easily step up.

  21. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

AB will be better and put up better numbers. Imagine if the o line could block with only 5 guys. Our pass game would be out of this world!

Jason I believe that was the Joker played by Jack Nicholson in the first Bratman movie who said that. If the Bucs win a SB as these two got their football legs imagine the season when they both come in good to go!!!

  22. Mike Says:

I will bet that AB will get the most catches this year and even the most yards of the Bucs. Gronk’ s number will not be improved because he loves to block and the Bucs wants to save him for the playoffs. His primary job is blocking and only catch when TB needs him to save a drive.
