Travis Kelce: Chiefs Likely Beat Bucs 99 Out Of 100 Times

June 21st, 2021

Big loss. Big mouth.

Man, Joe really wants to put a deuce in Travis Kelce’s face, and it’s not exactly the kind Antoine Winfield, Jr. delivered to the grill of Tyreek “Cheetah” Hill.

For those who may have just returned to earth (Flight 828?), the Bucs annihilated the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. The final score was 31-9. The vaunted Chiefs offense was impotent against the Bucs’ relentless pass rush, smothering run defense and feisty secondary.

Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce was locked down by Lavonte David, but it seems Kelce is rewriting history.

Speaking on SiriusXM NFL Radio last week, Kelce was quick to say the Bucs aren’t what he considers a tough matchup for the Chiefs.

“I tell you what, man, if we play that time nine times out of 10 or 99 times out of 100, man, I don’t know if we get that same result in the Super Bowl,” Kelce said. “That’s my personal opinion. You know, it just wasn’t our day. And that’s what it felt like going into it, and sure enough that’s how it ended up.”

Kelce went on to say he has “nothing but respect” for the Bucs, but in Joe’s mind that’s the equivalent of trying to shove toothpaste back in the tube. If you’re on national radio saying you’d beat the Bucs 99 times out of 100, then you do not respect getting clobbered from start to finish four months ago.

And if Kelce is saying the Chiefs weren’t feeling up for the Super Bowl before kickoff, then that’s a reflection of a major weakness in their team, not some sort of one-game misfire.

Man, Joe may just hate the Chiefs on a par with the slimy Saints.

  1. BridleOaks Buc Says:

Bucs have kicked the sp!t out of the Chefs for the 7 out of
    the past 8 quarters…Scoreboard!

  2. Adam Says:

Crazy talk like that might get Kelce put on Concussion protocol to start the season

  3. bobby4919 Says:

Maybe if he caught the passes that hit him in the face they might have had a chance.

  4. Leighroy Says:

Where did Kelsey say they would beat the Bucs 99 of 100 times? Perhaps Joe watches too much international soccer, but Joe considers result to mean winner of the game.–Joe
He only says the result would be different, implying the point spread. I think we could spare everyone the consternation over some perceived offense if we apply a little logic here, no?

  5. Miller5252 Says:

As a coach you hang that up in the locker room all year long. You use that to get everyone on the same page and make sure the guys know that people think it was a fluke that you won the Super Bowl! Then you go pound the hell outta everyone you play and prove it ain’t a fluke.

  6. Colonel Angus Says:

The NFL history books show that the Bucs absolutely dominated Super Bowl 55. Ain’t no book of “If’s”. And the Bucs could easily say “if” that regular season game lasted another quarter, they would have completed the comeback and won the 1st matchup as well. Since that 2nd half, the Bucs outscored the Chiefs 48-16.

  7. Scooter Says:

It runs in the Family. During the Eagle’s Super Bowl parade, Jason Kelce at the podium mike talked so much that your hair hurt.

  8. gp Says:

He might get a chance to try to prove his theory come February. That is, of course, IF the Chiefs make it to the super bowl.

  9. Joe in Michigan Says:

Kelce is talking the could’ve/would’ve/should’ve nonsense that I see from a lot of Bucs “fans” on this site. All that matters is what REALLY happened, which was the Bucs took them behind the woodshed.

  10. Howard Cosel Says:

Howard has lost a little respect for the whiner Travis Kelce

  11. sasquatch Says:

Sounds like Kielce needs to be smacked in the mouth a few more times.

  12. BradyBucs Says:

LOL at “The Manifest” reference. Can you believe they cancelled that show after 3 season and no conclusion?

  13. SlyPirate Says:

The Browns beat KC but the refs screwed them over. KC was lucky to even be in the SB.

  14. ClodHopper Says:

That game, that night, with everything the same, I say the Bucs win 99 out of 100. Maybe even 100. How the heck is that Oline gonna do anything to stop our defense? They were just outmatched with that patchwork oline. Not even a little help from Jfro or Eric Wright could get those guys to put up a fight against our Dline. 😉

  15. Buczilla Says:

Sore loser mentality and lack of respect from Kelce. Hopefully we’ll see them in the next superbowl, but I’ve got a hunch they won’t even make it that far.

I don’t hate the Chiefs in the slightest since we kicked their a$$es. Kelce talking out of his a$$ just makes him look like a classless moron, so harmless to me. The saints have routinely curb stomped us in recent years except when everything was on the line, so I’ve got a little hate for them for sure.

  16. Pewter Power Says:

No doubt he’s speaking for the entire team but it’s in the history books and 99 times out of a 100 is just code word for a player and team that thinks they are the best in the nfl even when they lose.

You won one and lost one so technically your math is not based in reality kelce

  17. DrunkInYbor Says:

On a side note that really shouldn’t matter anymore. Carl (Nasty) Nasibb came out of the closet to announce to the world that he is indeed a homosexual. Bravo and all that..He is the first openly gay player in NFL history. A few came out after they retired another Sam I think his name was never made it on a team

  18. Capt Kidd Says:

Kelly has been reading his press clippings, he needs to learn some humility. They’re paper Champs.

  19. G-FUNK Says:

Strange comment from a team that was outhussled and out smarted in a completely humiliating loss. Strange that KC’s last two playoff osses came at the hands of a Brady lead team. Maybe the Chiefs relax their off season drug screening protocals?

  20. Oneilbuc Says:

All we need is the one that matters the most !! Go bucs !!!

  21. unbelievable Says:

He said something similar a few weeks back as well.

I believe they were discussing on that show with Marcellus Wiley and Emmanuel Acho. Wiley basically laughed at Kelce and went on to show all the various ways they got their butts whooped by the Bucs.

  22. MCHammer88 Says:

Yea, well, last season it was 1/2 times so there’s that. AnD the time the Bucs won, it was HISTORIC!

  23. Bird Says:

They got pummeled in every aspect of the game

Offense And defense and special teams
    Gimme a break kelsey

And lavonte owned you. You got some yards in game over time
    Hope we see them again
Im sure LVD and Great white cant wait for a reunion

  24. Greg Says:

Thanks for the bulletin board material Travis! A little extra motivation is always nice!

  25. Swampbuc Says:

Print it and post it. Kelce might not finish the game on the field the next time they play. D White might just separate his head from his torso.

  26. MadMax Says:

Yeah, Kelce beat on Nassib’s noodle after both games….thats what he was referring to haha

  27. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Did I hear this right? Carl Nassib is Matt Gay

  28. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

What a stupid comment by Kelce. Take your beatdown like a man! Chiefs have a great offense and a very pedestrian defense. Bucs have a great offense and a good to great defense. I don’t expect the Chiefs to get back to the Super Bowl this year, so the Bucs will beat someone else.

  29. Ron says Says:

Well hopefully our offense will be playing at it’s full compacity and we don’t give up those 3 field goals next time. So unless one of their player goes streaking in between game time, I don’t seeing them getting into the end zone until after the game as they are walking off the field to their locker and bus. Mahomes is a great QB but as our team their team’s window is only open so long and each year will be harder to keep a contending team together so let’s hope we can run this SB over again and prove this team was still developing when it won the first time and is the greatest team of all time.

  30. SufferingSince76 Says:

Leighroy, what? Did you think he meant the Bucs would have kicked their asses even harder than they kicked their asses in Super Bowl LV? I highly doubt it.

  31. DoooshLaRue Says:

Nassib used to be a TE.

  32. Jmarkbuc Says:

    They scored 9 points.

  33. gotbbucs Says:

Kelce may want to look at who his coach is before making these statements. I can’t think of many worse big game coaches than Andy Reid. That guy and his staff get consistently out maneuvered on the biggest stages.
The Chiefs are just lucky they played against a Kyle Shanahan team in the previous Super Bowl, otherwise they likely would have lost that one too.

  34. JimmyJack Says:

?? We dropped the Chiefs like a sack of dirt. This guy sounds like aidiot.

  35. gp Says:

    That’s kinda sick Doosh. LOL

  36. Bird Says:

    Speaking of chiefs

Frank clark arrested felony gun possession. 2 in 3 months
They found an uzi in his lamborgini
    😂

Dude is gonna miss some time. Pretty sure he makes huge
    Bucs for the chiefs $$$

  37. SB Says:

Nassib used to be a TE.

    ………….

And now he has to douche often?

  38. SB Says:

Also I am starting to wonder if there shouldn’t be a Mercy Killing rule in Hockey!
    BOLTS 7 to 0!!

  39. Bird Says:

Bucs beat down the chiefs like lightning beating the sh t out of the islanders

  40. SB Says:

Let’s hope this is how it looks in Game 6 Bird! 🙂

  41. sasquatch Says:

Gay jokes. Wow. I guess you guys must be 13 years old.

  42. Oneilbuc Says:

    SB. Lol 😆🤣😂

  43. Craig Says:

That comment isn’t going to die. In 7 months or so it will be drug through the mud after the Bucs do it to the Chiefs again.

Still think it was a shame that we let Nassib go, he was a monster of a back-up player for us.

  44. Bucs Bro Says:

Kelce is as delusional as Clueleess Joe

  45. Bucs Bro Says:

Chiefs got worked, they never gave their struggling line any help, never tried any man beater routes, not many adjustments at all. Take your L Kelce and move on.

  46. SOEbuc Says:

THANK YOU KELCE!!!! You just made this team and Brady that much more want to dominate this year and beat the sh!t out of KC again!!!

You and Rodgers should find cheap sexy motel to cry in each other’s arms.

  47. Anonymous Says:

    fugg that dude…

we’ve been whooping chief’s azz since back in the dilfer days…

and all the way up thru the jameis tenure…

this is the first time kelsey has ever even tasted victory vs. the bucs – and that was the regular season…

we all know what happened in the superbowl…

dude needs to take that yang elsewhere

Butthurt smack, similar to the black knight at the bridge in the Monty Python flick, The Holy Grail…

  50. sauron's eye Says:

There is a fine line between confidence and delusion. Kelce has crossed it. We have a better team than them.

  51. Bucnjim Says:

A rematch in this years SB would be awesome! Talk about TV and NFL revenue it would be a historical figure.

  52. AtlBuc Says:

Adam, I guess you’re not too anonymous anymore! 😂

  53. firethecannons Says:

Yeah I hate the Saints too and Chiefs need another beat down.

  54. DoooshLaRue Says:

I think Nassib’s ultimate goal is to play WR for the SF 49s!

  55. Duane Says:

If Kelsey wants to blame mental weakness for losing the championship thats fine. Thats been the excuse for the last 3 years. The Chiefs are 2 rings short at this point in the game, and expecting to just waltz into another conference final and a SB is not reasonable. I think we are hearing a Fruedian slip from this meathead because the truth is that they had the talent to get the job done for the last few years and only have one ring to show for it- that is the last gasp we hear before those teams get busted up and reconfigured. Coulda, woulda, shoulda is the language of those who know their time is up. Mahomey is on the Madden cover, and I think its unreasonable for them to expect to be deep in the post season for the 4th straight year.

  56. Architek Says:

I love it – talk that “ish” Kielce! He’s got a right to speak his opinion. However, 99 out of 100 is extreme and they were held without a TD.

I can understand if they lost by a FG but they were dominated. Therefore, His point is moot!

  57. Panthers suck! Says:

Last I recall. Chiefs won two quarters and the Bucs won 6.

  58. Nutbucer Says:

So he’s saying next time he’s like to score at least one touchdown lmfao 🤡

  59. Bellingham Bucs Fan Says:

If Kelsey played the Bucs 100 times, he would have to change his last name to David.

  60. Bucshot Says:

S#%t talk like this is awsome to hear this time of year! For years we have been wishing for this…. ENJOY!
    GO BUCS

  61. Bojim Says:

Where was Kelce that evening? And good for you Carl!

  62. BUCFAN4LIFE Says:

Just f—ing WOW ! That will make GREAT bulletin board motivation in case we meet K.C. in the playoffs this year ! He definitely put his big foot in his mouth on that comment . Especially from someone who got completely shut down the last time they met .

  63. BelleGladeBuc Says:

When Patrick Mahomes is forced to scramble behind the line of scrimmage for almost 500 yards for 4 quarters, throws 2 picks, is hit 10 times, because the Bucs defensive line is destroying, demolishing and obliterating the clearly inferior Kansas City OLine, 100 times out of 100 times Kansas City loses the Super Bowl to the Bucs.

When ROJO and Super Lenny rush for 150 combined yards behind the beast of a line in Wirfs, Marpet and Jensen against an obviously inferior KC defense, 100 times out of 100 times Kansas City loses the Super Bowl to the Bucs.

Also, Kelce is not a complete TE. His blocking to set the edge is horrible. His pass pro is pathetic. Kelce is vastly inferior TE to Gronk the GOAT TE in his prime.

  64. T Says:

You’re taking his comment horribly out of context in an obnoxious, biased way that is a complete failure of journalistic integrity and integrity in general. First, Joe disagrees. Second, readers should be aware that a location search of the comment IP address puts the writer rather close to the Missouri border. –Joe
Game ended 31-9. Three dropped TD passes. That likely doesn’t happen if they play the game again. Automatic different result. He NEVER said they would win 99 times out of 100. Ever. You just assumed that’s what he meant, with zero proof. He just said the result would be different, and there’s no illogical nature to that line of thinking whatsoever. As Joe noted in an earlier comment. For Joe, “result” in sports means winner or loser. And Joe is not alone in that belief.–Joe
Furthermore, clowning on their emotional state before the game and calling it an excuse? Really? Do you even remember what Britt Reid did days prior?? Often times a tragedy inspires a team to rally and achieve greatness.–Joe
A simple Google search was all that was necessary to avoid that embarrassing blunder.
Truly one of the worst pieces of journalism I’ve ever seen. I applaud the one guy in the comments section who was actually logical. To the rest of you, I sure hope reading comprehension isn’t required for your jobs.

  65. Bradley Brown Says:

Joe, you’re okay, but he DID NOT say they would beat the bucs 99 out of a hundred. He said ““I tell you what, man, if we play that time nine times out of 10 or 99 times out of 100, man, I don’t know if we get that same result in the Super Bowl. ”

To me that means they won’t all be beat downs, the Queefs keep it close in some of the games, they score touchdowns in a few, hell, they even win some.

But he certainly did not say they win 99 times. That’s statistically impossible.

    Come on, do better.

  66. E_The_Don Says:

Imagine if Brady joined the Bucs and they went all the way to win the SB… NVM that did happened 100/100

  67. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

It is important to remember that KC was missing some very key players, and because if it, were unable to protect their QB.
Do not be shocked if we face them again, in the next Super Bowl.
I still have to believe we will win again, but one thing is for sure, it won’t be an easy game for us, like it was last time.

  68. BelleGladeBuc Says:

    @T Says

    Football is simple.

The team that wins the turnover battle usually wins the game. The Bucs caused 2 turnovers and did not turn the ball over.

The team that has the most penalties usually loses the game. The Chiefs are extremely undisciplined. 11 penalties for over 100 yards is undisciplined. Also, Jones should have been ejected for throwing a punch and connecting with that punch on Ryan Jensen, so please spare us the ref excuse that Chiefs fans use.

The team that wins in the trenches wins the game. QB scrambles count as rushing, but if you take away Mahomes 33 rushing yards the Bucs held KC running backs to 74 yards rushing. ROJO and Super Lenny and the Bucs OLINE dominated the Chiefs for 150 yards rushing. The Bucs won in the trenches.

Kansas City’s OLINE was in shambles in this Super Bowl. The Bucs DLINE led by Shaq, JPP, Suh, and Vea would dominate those second stringers 10 times out of 10 times. Anybody who thinks differently is ignorant or biased.

  69. Mike Says:

If he’s saying that if we played them 99 times they would not have lost any worse than that, it may be true…

  70. GOATWatcher Says:

Really? The “result would be different” clearly implies win/loss. If they didn’t get beat down quite so bad, that would be “different”? Not really sports fans. Let’s see if Kelse makes it through the season without injuries. Let’s see how Mahomes does if he looses his weapons like Brady has. Brady lost Gronk, Hernandez and Welker in 2013. Still went to the AFC championship.

  71. BelleGladeBuc Says:

    @T Says

One could say that those three drops might not happen again as you suggest.

Or one could say that Mahomes gets sacked on those three drops as he was very close to by Shaq and company.

On one of those drops Mahomes, who was scrambling for his life because his OLINE was filled with second stringers and was atrocious, had been hit by Shaq and was parallel to the ground when he threw it.

If Shaq is there hundredths of seconds earlier, Mahomes is sacked and possibly hurt even more.

Mahomes was injured going into the Super Bowl. That factor doesn’t change in the if game.

Everybody can play the if game.

  72. BelleGladeBuc Says:

    @T Says

You know who always plays the irrelevant if game, because nobody has a time machine?

Sore losers like Kelce and you always play the if game.
