Scotty Miller: “We Haven’t Talked About It”

June 29th, 2021

Scotty Miller

Perfection is a fantastic goal, but only the weak fall apart if they don’t achieve it.

Joe believes Tom Brady thinks that way, and it’s why Joe believes Brady isn’t wasting any time — at least not more than usual — obsessing about and striving for a perfect season. The national media wants him to, but Brady is far too smart for that.

Joe believes way too much luck is needed to go 17-0 (plus 3-0 in the playoffs) to even consider a perfect season to be a goal for a quarterback. Injuries, bad officiating, fluke interceptions, missed kicks and once-in-a-lifetime performances by opponents are all part of the equation.

Hell, consider that Adrian Clayborn had six sacks in one game four years ago for the Falcons, and Josh McCown won one game while starting 11 for the Bucs in 2014.

However, it seems the Bucs are aware of the undefeated chatter.

Scotty Miller joined The Pat McAfee Show last week and was asked if his teammates “thought or talked about” a perfect season. Twice Miller said Bucs players have not gone there, though he acknowledged public comments from Chiefs players talking about going undefeated this year.

Joe might actually get more satisfaction from the Chiefs going into this season’s Super Bowl undefeated against a Bucs team looking for back-to-back championships — assuming the Bucs pound the snot out of them again.

Miller said he certainly wants to go undefeated and it’s fair to say the Bucs will go into every game with great odds of winning.

I couldn’t give a rat’s a$$ about a perfect season. Just get back to the Superbowl baby!!!

  2. Youngbucs Says:

Some losses are good in a sense not to many though 😂

  3. stpetebucsfan Says:

I agree with SB. I could care less about the record and more about getting another Lombardi trophy.

If the Lightning continue their roll and win another Cup the parade needs to be on the Hillsborough river once again! And if the Bucs repeated these championship river parades need to continue.

Tampa Florida’s HIllsborough river…the river of CHAMPIONS!

  4. Casual Observer Says:

Joe – Your list of things that can go wrong in a game is on the mark. Could happen in any game. But I also agree that the Bucs will be favored in each game. So – (as so many have said) – One game at a time. Whatever happens in each game, I am certain that the Bucs’ record will be a good one – and they will return to the super bowl. So much talent, experience, and good coaching. A great season is in store – as you often point out.

lol lol Brady is playing for immortality, I can hear the 72 Dolphins players behind the scenes right now saying “screw that” about how they can’t go undefeated during the 72 season. I can imagine all the mess that was said about how they could not go undefeated, noway, never going to happen, and all the other blah blah blah. Right , they hoisted the Lombardi. The Dolphins did it their era, and someone is going to do it in the 17 reg season era.

This Brady led teams plays for keeps, time for an immortal season of 20-0

    Bucs ALL DAY BABY!!!!!

GO BUCS 20-0 cap off 28-0 run

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Undefeated…..irrational exuberance….A nice thought…..especially with a team who most recently was searching for a winning season….

I am confident we will have a winning season…..I am confident we will make the playoffs……beyond that….I’m just hopeful.

  7. SOEbuc Says:

    SB

I know, right? I don’t care if we win every game I just want to win the one that matters.

  8. Listnfrmafar Says:

Many Patriots from 2007 talk about how much pressure was put on them once they we a few games away from the achievement. At 17-0 then to lose to the Giants due to an unbelievable catch. Rest players at the end of the season if you can, no rings for the perfect season.

Yeah Joes gone natty on us. Of course there will be so much bullspit reason a good Tampa Bay team is not good. The Rays f#cked up on their own. They cry about Bolts being over the cap. I see so many GB and KC fans still crying about the reasons the Bucs won the Super Bowl. I’m like “don’t you people have your own football season to look forward to?”

Now all these nats can say is “The Bucs were very healthy last year, now there’s likely to be more injuries gonna hit them to not go back to back.” Even though OJ was out most of the year, Ali sat out three weeks down the stretch, Cappa went down in wildcard, and IMO Vita returned and opened up that front seven to win the Super Bowl.

But it’s same sh**, different day. They’re trying to say Brady will definitely get injured because he’s TOO OLD. Tom took that to heart and historically in many ways shoved it up the haters A-HOLE.

  10. August 1976 Buc Says:

So can anyone see Brady looking at the Schedule and saying “Well were are going to lose this game, oh here is another one that we will not win” lol lol
There is no way he is thinking that about any one of the 17 regular season games they will play.
He has won 18 in a row before in 1 season,, so it is time for 20 lol and Back to Back Championships

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  11. Buckaroo Boozie Says:

One game at a time sweet Jesus!

    HUMBLE PIE CONTEST

  12. Joe Q Says:

All that talk is just noise. All we need is BA and TB12 keeping everyone on “doing your job” and staying healthy.

  13. Bojim Says:

    One game at a time!!

  14. mixxx31 Says:

    @Stpetebucsfans
Just curious, how much “more” less could you care? LMAO!!!

  15. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

Everybody now can say all they want about they don’t care about a perfect season but it’s a lie. On game day not one fan says “Golly I don’t care if they lose today as long as they give a great effort!” No instead we want the Bucs to pound all the other teams mercilessly like they did
Detroit the last two seasons! If they did that then it would be a perfect season. So guys stop lying that you don’t care cause you do every fan wants it, it’s just not probable.

  16. Rod Munch Says:

I get no enjoyment out of expecting something like an undefeated season — I’m not sure where the fun and entertainment in expecting that comes from. It’s fun to expect other teams to go undefeated, that way when they lose you can taunt them for being losers — but I wouldn’t want that voodoo hex on me.

Now if the Bucs pulled it off, which I 100% would bet against, then I’ll enjoy the living f–k out of it, but I’ll wait until it happens. Otherwise you’re literally not going to enjoy any win more than you suffer if there is even one loss.

It’s sort of like with the Lightning. I don’t get a ton of joy out of them winning, they’re expected to win and it’s a failure if they don’t. Instead of joy, it’s more like I’m relieved. Now if they win the cup, then at that point it’s pure joy, but I want to enjoy the season, not be relieved they made it through Sunday.

  17. SlyPirate Says:

Let’s take it all in 2021:
    -NFC South Champs
    -NFC Champs
    -Super Bowl Champs
    -Undefeated 20-0 …
-Most consecutive wins in NFL History 28-0 …
    -DPOY Shaq …
    -MVP Brady

  18. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Alvin continues to be on record for a 14-3 season.

  19. Mike28277 Says:

Not sure if this is correct, but would be interesting to see us win the first 10 games, go 18-0 with an SB in the last 18 games. Let the debate begin.

  20. BUCFAN4LIFE Says:

Lets not get too cocky here . BA , the Coaches , Brady and the rest of the Team will remain laser focused on “one game at a time” . There’s no “ego” with this Team , only DETERMINATION ! They are quite the “complete group” ! GO BUCS !!!!

Right on Sly…Why not? I say why not, something to aim at.

BTW Rod Munch, to each their own. As I stated in another post, football is entertainment for fans. It has no bearing in the life and death situations of most of the 7 billion of us on the planet.

I live in a 3rd world country now and see massive poverty everywhere. Many people here still make 2-10 dollars a day. Some make more but it does not compare for the most part at all with the US. This is the reality of so many people’s lives here where I live. It is a good reality check everyday for anyone. It keeps life in a good perspective. Sports are a great entertainment, but do not really affect at all most any one I am around. I watched the Bucs win the Super Bowl and then right after I walked outside and no one here even knows what the Super Bowl is, let alone know it was played.

The glass is half full, so win or lose I still enjoy smelling the flowers along the way. Life is a blast if we choose, or life can suck. I choose to enjoy the ride, before and after whatever results happen.

It was not logical for the Dolphins go undefeated, and it is not logical for the Bucs. But either way I am going to enjoy the ride, not wait around for something to happen.

Someone is going to go undefeated, and it might as well be the Bucs.

GO BIG BAD AZZ WORLD CHAMPION BUCS!!!!

  22. Rod Munch Says:

August 1976 – Enjoying the ride is literally waiting for something to happen, that IS the ride. When you start celebrating an undefeated year in the June before the season begins, where is the ride part at? You’re just jumping in front of a bus and calling it a ride. Sure, maybe you’ll stick to the front of the bus like in a cartoon, and that would be quite the ride — but most likely you’re just going to get flattened.

  23. August 1976 Buc Says:

Hey Rod, who is celebrating an undefeated season, I am proclaiming one. Win or lose, life goes on. I actually believe they can go undefeated. Whether they do or not we will see. My point was about enjoying daily life, in the now, not based on entertainment and things that just do not really matter when it comes down to it. Like it or not, it is my choice to live this way. So when it comes to the Bucs, I choose to believe they can have undefeated season and I am proclaiming it until it is not so.

As I said to you, to each their own, everyone is free to think what they like, whether someone agrees or not, it is fine with me.

Ultimately I would like to see the Bucs go 19-0 and play a 19-0 Chiefs team in the Super Bowl and smash them again to go 20-0

Again someone is going to go undefeated sooner or later, and it might as well be the Bucs.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  24. Wild Bill Says:

Strive to win every game. Deal with injuries, illness etc if or when they occur. Every team will face adversity at some point of the season. Reliable backups will be important for all teams. A perfect season is so rare it is unreasonable to expect the Bucs to do it. Lose Brady to injury and the air goes out of the balloon. If major injuries are avoided then the Bucs have a great shot at repeating as NFL Champs. But history shows that many favorites stumble over the course of a long hard season. I like the Bucs chances. But a perfect season is an unrealistic expectation. If it happens, great. But a winning season and making the playoffs is a very realistic goal. A perfect win/loss record not very likely.
