No Worries

June 24th, 2021

Carefree days.

How high on life is Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht?

The dude runs an NFL team that just won the Super Bowl. His roster is as loaded as you will find, even in fantasy football. And his contract just got extended.

Licht recently posted a social media photo where it appears Licht and his family are enjoying days in the mountains somewhere.

And Licht’s head might be up in those clouds in the pictures. Why not?

Well, former coffee fetcher for Bill Walsh, Al Davis and Bill Belicheat, retired general manager Michael Lombardi believes maybe, Licht has one worry — and that’s it.

That one worry Lombardi typed for The Athletic? That Tom Brady can keep conning Father Time.

… Can a 43-year-old quarterback continue to act and play like he is 33? Tom Brady’s health and age are the only worries facing Licht as he heads off for summer vacation. Based on Brady’s past, he might not have to worry.

Here is a “What if… ” for you: Well, a few.

What if Brady is better than last year?

What if Brady’s knee surgery means he can improve throwing and moving around the pocket?

What if Brady starts the season on fire because he fully knows Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians’ playbook.

What if Brady is in overdrive from Week 1 because he is fully comfortable with his teammates, including furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing receiver Antonio Brown?

Those are all very real possibilities. And the NFL should be scared as hell.

If you have been a fan since day one, of week one, of year one, you know to be cautiously optimistic.

Many players will be whistling by the graveyard when they have to play against the Brady led Bucs.

WHAT IF THEY GO 20-0, UNDEFEATED SEASON, {28-0 RUN} ?

GO BIG BAD WORLD CHAMPION BUCS!!!!!

The only worries to have is the one Brady himself mentioned…it’s the NFL allowing the changing of who gets to wear what number! With edge rushers wearing the same numbers as some corners it can get confusing if you fail to identify certain players while reading defenses and will defenses use this to confuse a QB’s first instinct…let the games began!! GO 2021 BUCS (UNDEFEATED)!!!

I want to see the Bucs dominate in the run game, force the safeties up and then slaughter with the play action. Why not be top 5 in running and passing?

One of my favorite drives of 2020 was the 8 minute plus drive in Q4 of the super bowl. Didn’t lead to points but it was a running jam fest. Chiefs knew the Bucs were running and couldn’t do anything to stop it.

Pick up where you left off Bucs!

Been there with you all the way……and it definitely bothers me to hear all the 20-0 predictions/expectations……

I never hope the Bucs lose for any reason…draft picks etc….but it wouldn’t be bad for the Bucs to lose a game early in the season to bring reality back. But I think most of the 20-0 is coming from fans….not the players.

    @TBBF —

The 20-0 talk comes from the fans. But the 20-0 vision comes from TB. He is willing to be historic. Remember 18-1? Brady was loaded for Bear that year but got the Giants instead. Later we may learn that the organization — especially its quarterback — set the same lofty goal for this season. Hope it turns out better than last time.

    Economics and roster makeup.

Bucs had 4th lowest rush attempts on 1st down last year,
2nd lowest % of rushes on 1st down last year.
Bucs were among the 6th lowest number of team rushing fumbles last year.
With the continuity of OLine, TALENTED backfield and luck in the health department, this team could amass 2000 yards rushing in 2021 with 7-8 more attempts per game -and that is a recipe for success when your QB doesn’t throw picks and your D and kicker are solid.
