Bucs QB Coach: Tom Brady Likely Wasn’t 100 Percent

June 4th, 2021

Legend grows.

The Legend of Tom Brady grows!

Now Joe is not trying to make light of a man’s injury. But holy cow, do the Bucs have some kind of superhero with this park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady?

If not, someone should buy him a pewter cape.

Brady, who already had six rings to his name, came to the Bucs last year and totally changed the environment, culture and attitude of a franchise that was the NFC’s fire hydrant in a dog park for more than a decade.

And yes, we knew Brady had a bum knee because he had surgery just after last season. But if you can find or point Joe toward any video of Brady in a Bucs uniform limping or hobbled, please allow Joe to view it.

So yesterday, Bucs quarterbacks coach Clyde Christensen spoke and revisited an old story about when Brady FaceTimed him early in the morning the day after he led the Bucs to their second Super Bowl in franchise history.

Christensen said Brady already was geeked for the 2021 season, in part, because of his health.

“I don’t think he was 100 percent last year,” Christensen said. Christensen then said if he remembered the FaceTime correctly, Brady added, “I’m gonna get my knee fixed up and I’m gonna be better next year and you’re gonna be excited about that.'”

Christensen later added that Brady’s bum knee was a “nuisance” because Brady had to get his knee taped up daily and do extra maintenance on the knee. Hopefully, that routine is in the past.

So let’s think about this: Brady had one of the best seasons of his career (which is a damn high bar) in his first year with Bucco Bruce Arians. It ended in a Super Bowl win. And Brady did this without knowing Arians’ playbook until Thanksgiving and while playing on a bum knee.

Holy Flirkingschmidt! If this doesn’t get you jacked this morning, you better check your pulse.

The 2021 season could be freaking spectacular!

No wonder Christensen is convinced the Bucs offense has yet to peak.

I think this has been an ongoing thing with that knee for years. That’s the same knee he had the ACL tear on. He finally got tired of dealing with caring for it, not to mention 12 years of wearing that heavy brace.

Trying to remember the game, Chicago?, when Brady was running on the field and a no contact-knee gave out. Wonder if it was hurt before then, or if that had any issue? I’ll try and find the game, but it was when he was jogging into the field for a change of possession- not a play

I’ve told 🤡s here before all nfl players play hurt! Some times we never find out about the surgeries. Being hurt is not an excuse to stink up the joint. If it is then don’t play so glad the 🐐doesn’t need excuses.

Clod Christianson needs to shut his trap. Dude is running his mouth too much about everything. SHUT IT

Insightful stuff coming from Joe and the coaches. Thanks for the article.

Not sure that a quarterback can go through a whole season without some injuries as all football players have to endure. But it will be interesting to see if there are any differences this year.

Señor Harry – BB and TB put egos aside for 20 years. Inevitably, that relationship had ran its course when they parted.

First year in Arian’s offense, and injured. Wasn’t Brady supposed to throw 30 interceptions? lol
