Soon To Be Paid

May 18th, 2021

An unknown stenographer for NFL.com predicts major payday for Bucs defender soon.

An NFL writer, known but to God, seems to think a Bucs defender is about to have a massive payday.

Who would this mysterious Bucs defender be? Well, this ghost writer believes Vita Vea will hit the lottery with Team Glazer right around the corner.

Vita Vea, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The 26-year-old Vea played just five games during the 2020 regular season. Vea returned for the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl, contributing five quarterback pressures on 49 pass-rush snaps. Vea will get paid because he weighs 347 pounds and possesses the ability to affect the quarterback rather than just stop the run.

One could argue the Bucs defense came alive against the Packers and the Chiefs because Vea returned. Against the Packers, Vea went up against All-Pro center Corey Linsley and was throwing him backwards time and again.

Throwing him!

As a result, the pocket on Packers drama queen quarterback Aaron Rodgers collapsed and he had nowhere to run except right into the arms of Bucs sack king Shaq Barrett or Jason Pierre-Paul.

Sean Murphy-Bunting had a helluva playoff run. So too did Devin White and Shaq. But in those two games Vea played, he was an absolute animal in the middle, allowing JPP and Shaq to go one-on-one with blockers.

I saw a short clip of Vea literally running right over the top of the Packers all-pro center. He’s a beast!

  2. An Erection for Sacks Says:

    There is no god.

  3. Medicated Pete Says:

I wonder if the Bucs put his full name on the contract:

Tevita Tuli’Aki’ono Tuipuloto Mosese Va’Hae Fehoko Faletau Vea

LOL. The check would have to be the size of one of those golf checks you see after a guy wins the tournament.

  5. Netwalker Says:

Imagine if you are Vea and had to write that signature on the back of the check. He’d likely need three lines. Probable would be worth it though.

  6. Stanglassman Says:

I got to admit when I saw Vita go down with injury I thought the Bucs Super Bowl chances went down too. Getting him back was huge.

Paying him now maybe better than waiting. If he has a productive ’21 and stays healthy it’s gonna cost them more.

  7. Leighroy Says:

Geez, in addition to the happy Gilmore style paycheck, Vita is probably the only one with an 11×17” driver’s license and SS card!

  8. Anonymous Says:

I’d like to see Double V come to camp at 335 lbs.

  9. BucEmUp Says:

He is an animal…carlton davis will get tagged next year and vea the following.

  10. SB~LV Says:

I hope he signs a girth appropriate deal, that would mean he has stayed healthy.

  11. Buczilla Says:

Vita is awesome and one of my favorite players, but he is also injury prone. If he stays healthy for the whole season, I’d pay him every time of what he’s worth.

  12. Jonny Says:

I find it very surprising that Vea is already 26. His age, I think will have a bearing on the type of contract he’d get. I believe Licht will let him play out his rookie contract and offer him based on his health and availability first. We all know Vea is great if he is on the field. But someone as injury prone as him isn’t a sure shot at massive contract extension before the end of his rookie deal. I was hoping Bucs would draft an Alim McNeil or a Taylor Shelvin in 3rd and later as a backup policy should Vea get hurt again.

  13. SB~LV Says:

I would not let VV play out his rookie contract if he finishes 2021 healthy !….IF it was me and they did that I’d take the highest offer on the market….he will not be playing with TB under his second contract !

  14. MadMax Says:

We’re keeping Big V and White, no matter the cost. Hopefully theyre team friendly because they know we have to pay others too.

  15. catcard202 Says:

Bucs went 9-3 last yr without Vea in the line-up.

That tells me that the Bucs can replace him & not feel a big loss in the middle of the DEF.

(Bucs swapped late rd picks w/ Jets for McLendon & the DEF did not miss a beat!)

  16. Swampbuc Says:

Now we have morons who are content to let Vea walk. Morons. Thankfully JL and staff know how to manage a salary cap and also know talent . There aren’t other Vitas loping around out there . He is a one-off.

  17. Duane Says:

Wasnt Vea’s injury last year friendly fire? Big men that play in the trenches get hurt. Vea has earned a payday, but its not likely to be a Shaq type deal, because he doesnt rack up a bunch of sacks. What he does is stop all push from the middle of the line, and hes damn good at it. Vea, Davis, and White will all get love when their time comes. Vea likely to make Suh/Jpp money. Interested in seeing who gets the bigger contract between Davis and White. Does the Brady discount work on the defensive side with young players? We are likely to find out.

  18. Joe in Michigan Says:

catcard202: We expect you to watch the games before you comment. If you didn’t see a difference between the Bucs defense with and without Vea then you weren’t watching the games.

LOL. The check would have to be the size of one of those golf checks you see after a guy wins the tournament.

And you would still need 8pt. font.

  20. Pickgrin Says:

We know exactly how much Vea is getting paid the next 2 years…..

    $2.5M with a $4.7M cap hit in 2021

$7.6M in 2022 on 5th year option (which has already been activated).
