Mr. Brady Talks About A 4-0 Start

May 14th, 2021

Smack-talkin’ dad

Sports radio callers in the 21st century are usually a freakish bunch.

Not a lot of people are willing to be on hold just to say something they could post instantly on social media.

Tom Brady, Sr., is one of those guys.

Yeah, Joe guesses the dad of Mr. Seven Rings jumps to the front of the line when he calls Boston sports radio, as he’s been known to do occasionally. Regardless, yesterday was one of those days on the Zolak & Bertrand show on 98.5 FM in Boston.

”Tom in California” called in to talk about being a proud Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan, one that expects his son to crush the Patriots on October 3 in New England.

“I saw the schedule come out last night and I started salivating when I saw that we play the Patriots in the fourth game of the season, and that we’re coming up [to New England to make our record 4-0 after the fourth game. Pretty fun time,” said the elder Brady.

Mr. Brady went on to say every season’s schedule is tough, ”but we expect to beat the Patriots rather handily, frankly.”

Joe is so fired up for this epic clash of the greatest team in football, led by the greatest QB in NFL history returning to his 20-year stomping grounds against the greatest coach in NFL history for a one-and-only meeting. (The Bucs won’t return there until 2029).

Former Patriots offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, a Tom Brady buddy, spoke on SiriusXM NFL Radio this morning about how Bill Belicheat will be obsessing about slowing Brady. Yes, Joe expects him to find a way to cheat.

Time for gas on the fire, LOVE it, Thx Mr Brady!! The Bucs are the Big Bad Bully right now, might as well not shy away from a good fight. Papa Brady just letting the Pats know where they stand lol lol. BTW Billie B has a losing record as a Head Coach without Brady, the numbers do not lie. With Clevland and NE, Billy Boy is under .500 GO BUCS!!!

  2. chris L Says:

finally one joe is jacked up for this game!! i think i was able to actually secure tickets directly with the patriots so i will be cheering on the bucs!!!

  3. zzbuc Says:

Time to fly low…..Games are won inside the field not outside…
    DOn´t like that attitude!!!!
Always a low profile is better than a big mouth!!!

  4. Fred Orlando Says:

    Chris L, you got tix?
Do you live up there or are you gonna fly?

  5. August 1976 Buc Says:

Lol lol lol Time to ENJOY the ride, not find things to get bent out of shape about. It is a GAME to ENJOY lol lol 20-0 is the goal. GO BUCS!!!!

  6. Buc4evr Says:

Agreed zz, walk softly and carry a big stick.

  7. 6throundpick Says:

Nevermind the gamesmanship (ie score), show us how good you are; make the scoreboard tired! We all want to see it, including NEP fans.

  8. DingleBerry Says:

Quoting Dirk Koetter and the jailed cradle robber? That makes me want to vomit. Please refrain from ever doing that again Buc4evr.

I could see if our players were saying that the schedule was easy and we’re going 20-0. That would be something to worry about. Because it would indicate that the players were looking past teams and letting success go their heads. And that would be concerning because games are indeed won on the field by players.

But fans saying it? What is the issue? We don’t have any effect on what happens on the field good or bad. If fans want to root for us to have a magical 20-0 season there I see no

  9. DingleBerry Says:

P.S. I know that it’s also a Teddy Roosevelt quote. But in the context of this team that particular quote has an ugly history.

  10. DingleBerry Says:

“if fans want to root for a magical 20-0 season I see no *issue with that.”

  11. SlyPirate Says:

    LOVE IT!

Talk repeat. Talk 20-0. Talk about kicking everyone’s butt. Let everyone know you got the swag. It creates accountability. It’ll inspire the loafers … the guys that won a SB or got a fat paycheck … it’s time to get back to work.

    SPOT ON Ding..

Why not have fun with this. It is only a GAME, lol And for me as a fan since 1976, this is the most fun during an offseason I have ever had. GO WORLD CHAMPION BUCS!!!!

  13. Cobraboy Says:

Fan arrogance and unreasonable expectations prove casual fans do not understand the game.

Casual Buc bandwagoneers sound like Chef fans last season.

Sh!t can change in a hurry.

Be concerned about the first series vs. the CowJones, and look no further than every series, O, D, or STs thereafter…

  14. DingleBerry Says:

I don’t get it. You can’t criticize draft picks or you’re a know it all bad fan. But you also can’t root for your team to go undefeated or you’re an arrogant/casual bad fan.

Rooting for 20-0 is not a problem. It doesn’t indicate arrogance or lack of knowledge about the game, and it’s not saying you expect it to happen, it’s just something to root for. And until we lose a game, that’s what I’ll be rooting for.

    Lighten. The hell. Up.

  15. August 1976 Buc Says:

Cobra… Casual fans lol lol, 44 years of being a Buc fan, and most of it they have been a ” slow burn dumpster fire” lol It is a GAME to ENJOY and have FUN. I do not contribute one play, what I say has nothing to do with the outcome. So 20-0 sounds real good, if they lose a game or do not win it all, whatever, it has no real affect on my life as far as life and death. NFL football is a game, and I am a fan that ENJOYS it for what it is, ENTERTAINMENT. Just like posters hate the Monikers that Joe likes to use, it is all good to me, Moniker Mania, lol GO WORLD CHAMPION BUCS!!!!

  16. chris L Says:

Fred Orlando – new york city so decently close

  17. TampaTown Says:

    Chris L

Good for you! Always a great feeling scoring tickets to an away game. A friend of mine offered to let me stay at his condo just outside Gillette Stadium if I decide to go but I’m only willing to pay those kind of ticket prices for great seats, not nosebleeds.

  18. Gordon Says:

I have moved from the Patriots to the Bucs. because I have great respect and admiration for the greatest QB ever Tom Brady. I have also kept my home in Massachusetts but have also purchased a great home in Tampa Bay because I want to go to all games that the Bucs play there. Today I am upset with New Now and Tampa Bay Times because they are posting bad news against Antonio Brown when some Truck Driver is trying to sue Brown to get $30,000. for some damage to his truck. Antonio Brown does not deserve this because it is a minor claim that could be quickly settled for less that $10,000. Antonio Brown is admired and respected by everyone including the great Tom Brady and the complete Bucs team. Everyone has said that AB works harder than anyone to do the best he can to contribute to the Bucs team so lets respect him and not allow anyone to report stupid negative remarks about him!

  19. August 1976 Buc Says:

Did this guy wait for AB to resign before doing this. This case was already settled. This guy must have some angle to work AB over for some more cash. With that said, AB has brought much upon himself, so this kind of comes with the territory. Hope this ends quickly, he is going to have a great season I believe this year. GO WORLD CHAMPION BUCS!!!!!

  20. Darin Says:

You’re right it’s not a problem. You can think and feel and root whatever you choose. Some people just look at it different. I did the same thing when i was younger. It was always 16-0 until proven otherwise, which usually turned out to be 2-14. Now I see no reason to do it. I even got a bit into it last time they won the super bowl. All it does is deflate ya later. Now I lean towards the worst so I can get more excited if they win. But yeah if you wana look at 20-0 go for it. Shoot if u bet on it you’d probably get great odds.

  21. 813bucboi Says:

    gordon

    well said…

the AB news is BS imo….

bucs knew a money grab might happen once AB signed…

    settle and move on…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  22. DingleBerry Says:

    @Darin

I totally get the viewpoint of not wanting to set yourself up for disappointment. But I remember people saying similar things last year to those who were willing to say they expected us to win the Super Bowl.

Now, by no means do I expect us to actually go 20-0 because that would take a considerable amount of luck and luck is fickle. But I’m still going to root for it to happen until we lose a game.

    Go Bucs! 20-0!

  23. ClodHopper Says:

Every year everyone forgets Brady don’t play too hot in September. In September when he struggles everyone will call him done. It’s darn near a ten year tradition.

  24. BradyBucs Says:

We gotta be careful or we’ll become the “Paper Repeat Champs” with all the undefeated talk, etc.

The best thing that could happen to this team might be losing a game early on so it puts all the undefeated talk to a rest.

  25. Marine Buc Says:

I love this team and being Super Bowl champs is like a dream come true. We certainly do have a very promising chance at another amazing year.

However, I hope everyone can just tap the breaks a little with all the hype. Each season is different and the worst mistakes in spots is getting over confident.

We played way beyond my expectations last year but we also got whipped twice by New Orleans and KC in the regular season, had an embarrassing loss at Chicago and barely made it out of Washington DC alive against a QB that was working at Amazon two weeks before that game.

Sorry – but being a Bucs fan has taught me to stay humble and hope for the best… This year will be no different for me.

    Go Bucs!!!!

  26. DingleBerry Says:

    BradyBucs..

Again, a fan can say whatever they like and it will ultimately have no impact whatsoever on the team itself. This team didn’t win the Super Bowl last year to spite Realist or Ndog. They won the Super Bowl because they stayed healthy, got hot at the right time and ultimately became the best team in football. They aren’t going to rest on their laurels because fans are rooting 20-0.

Saying that fans need to be careful with our expectations or the team might screw up is so unbelievably stupid.

  27. August 1976 Buc Says:

Who expected the 72 Dolphins to go undefeated? It did happen, 20-0 can be done. That is why they play the games. Just like the Bucs were supposed to be the Chief’s crash test dummy in the Super Bowl by most of the Talking heads. Sorry SHOOT for the MOON, and ENJOY the Ride. How many players on the Bucs are practising to lose any game? Brady is thinking about winning every single play. NO FEAR. I do not care why it cannot happen. I am going to ENJOY this ride for as long as it lasts. They signed everybody, they are going for it, NO RISK IT NO BISCUIT. For the FAN, this is not life and death. This is about FUN, ENTERTAINMENT. I yell and shout at the TV just as much as any other fan, lol I care, but it is only a game. 20-0 baby and 2nd Place is the first loser. lol lol lol GO BUCS!!!!!

  28. August 1976 Buc Says:

Average is the enemy of great, go for greatness, or why even get out of bed. In sport you strive for perfection, and the Dolphins did it, the record will not stand forever let’s go, Bucs.. 20-0 Baby GO BUCS!!!!!

  29. Rico 210 Says:

    20-0 baby!!!
If you ain’t first your last.
Best comment section I’ve ever been in and read.
    Go Bucs

  30. Ne+ bucs fan Says:

6th round pick,, you got that right,,,,go mofo BUCS

  31. Ne+ bucs fan Says:

Clodhopper,,true,, watching him for 20 years, sometimes he start out 4-0 and sometimes it’s 3 in 1,,,,, 2-2 then he goes on a tear and takes care of business,,love to be 4-0 after Ne

  32. Dyno-White ! # 45 Says:

As a kid, we were season ticket holders since 1976. So while it may seem goofy to worry about an out of conference game 5 months away, and even saying 20-0, who cares? After over 40 years of sweating away Sundays watching the worst record of any team in sports history, this is fun to even ponder.

The power of hope! 5 prime time games in one year. I love it, the only time we used to be mentioned on National TV was jokes during Johnny Carson’s monologue during our 0-26 streak.
