Jaelon Darden Highlights

May 1st, 2021

Bucs GM Jason Licht

It’s that time of year, when grown women and men drool over the thought of small-school draft prospects dominating for their beloved NFL team.

Joe is no exception to this annual fantasy ritual.

Below is vide of new Bucs fourth-round pick Jaelon Darden, the super-productive receiver/returner out of North Texas.

He can fly, and dominate in the world of second-tier college football.

Can he do it for Tampa Bay? Another reason 2021 preseason got more fun.

  1. Buccaboo Says:

He best not carry that ball like that against the big boys or he will be a turnover problem

  2. Medicated Pete Says:

Arians also just said on NFL Radio that TB12 liked this pick so the Bucs are getting his approval before making ANY picks

  3. Jeffbuc Says:

Wow!!! This guy is one of the shiftiest recievers I have ever seen. I don’t know how those moves translate to the nfl. But he is instantly the best return man on the team. And you have to put in 4-5 plays a game to get the ball in his hands. He is a threat to take it to the house at any time. Been wanting us to draft a guy like him for a while. A gunner a return man and a guy who has to be accounted for in his limited reps

  4. NateDawg Says:

Wow, this guy has some fast moving feet and stops in a dime. Definitely looks like he has a shot at bringing some excitement to the return game if he can create a few misses in the open field.

  5. Uhhmmm Says:

    Those are some skinny legs….

  6. Bird Says:

Medicated pete is so sad and mad at the same time
    He still thinks its 2019
Bucs just won a dang super bowl and have limited spots

  7. Jaymiss Pick6 Again Says:

Hopefully this is not Dexter Jackson (App State) 2.0
    Kinda feels like it though.

  8. Bird Says:

    Kid is tiny

But 31 receiving tds in last two seasons
He was taken for return duties and maybe he can be somebody in year or two learning from the best
Hope he can beat out mickens who is just ehh

  9. BradentuckeyBuc Says:

    Thems some quick feet!!!

  10. Dbbuc711 Says:

Dang. He can really put on the brakes and make people miss and then accelerate after. 😁🤔
My wife went to North Texas years ago.

  11. MarineBucsFan Says:

Wow 😳 He is incredibly talented. Look at the footwork!!!

  12. Mitch Says:

I just watched his press conference. Came across as humble, plays with a chip on his shoulder, and is hyper focused on learning the mental side of the game before anything else.

Seems like a good pick. I just hope his playing style translates to the NFL.

  13. Jeffbuc Says:

Jay miss pick 6. This is not even close to Jackson pick. That guy got drafted off of two things. A great game against Michigan in one of the biggest upsets in college football. And running a 4.3. Harden was a belitnikoff trophy finalist led college football in touchdown catches. And caught 8.3 balls a game and averaged 132 yards a game his last year. This guy has proven himself to be one of the best at the level he played.

  14. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

He kicks it in first gear pretty quickly. Any one know his time on the 3 cone drill.
Not sure how good his top end speed but definitely has those shift and miss moves.

  15. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Just found it, Darden posted a blazing a 6.66-second three-cone drill (93rd) and 3.98-second short shuttle (97th), show great short-are quickness. With WR hands, he is everything you need for a returner.

  16. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Change of direction appears to be a specialty.

  17. Lakelandsteve Says:

Jaymiss, watch the kids film. He is no Dexter Jackson. This kid looks like the real deal. I think the Bucs might have another Diamond in the rough on their hands. He has that make you miss in him which is something you can’t teach. You either have it or you don’t and he definitely has it.

  18. Jaymiss Pick6 Again Says:

    @ Jeffbuc.

I get what you are saying but if memeory serves – several speed WR’s started going quickly just before the Bucs made the knee jerk decision to reach for Dexter Jackson. I’m sure that single game against Michigan was on the braintrusts mind though.

  19. Wesley Says:

Unspectacular catching highlights but dude has speed. Basically a Scotty Miller.

  20. David Says:

All they need is for him to be a sure handed return guy. If he has great return yardage Ave with potential to break it…. fantastic.

If he develops into a good shifty receiver for next year also great. But most of that is a bonus

  21. SB~LV Says:

    Scotty?

  22. PSL Bob Says:

Can you imagine if this guy turns out to be a speedster and shifty runner like Tyreek Hill when returning punts and kickoffs? Just what this offense needs. Starting drives on the 35 or 40 instead of the 20 or 25 each drive.

  23. Youngbucs Says:

Start him and Miller on the outside this season 😂

  24. Ash Says:

Scotty doesn’t have that kind of shiftiness so no not another scotty miller

  25. adam from ny Says:

    scotty has comp now

  26. Red86 Says:

Guy is like Barry Sanders at wideout.

  27. Bucamania Says:

Returns will be fun to watch again!

  28. catcard202 Says:

This is a GREAT camp competition pick for PR/KR role.

  29. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

No comparison to Scotty Miller other than small school and short in stature. Miller has great long straight line speed but isn’t at all shifty like Darden.

  30. D-Rok Says:

Looks like a small Edelman, super shifty. Welcome to the SB Champs, kid! Make your mark.

  31. Stanglassman Says:

    Slow feet don’t eat.

  32. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Better not play the fools like they did last year and try to sneak this kid on the PS. Cut Mickens now give this cat the KR/PR spot. Having no choice in Raymond Calais leave this team hurt our ST
