“We’re Just Waiting On The Call”

April 21st, 2021

Prepared.

The Bucs made a lot of news last week when their players became the first of three NFL rosters to call a team boycott on gathering for voluntary workouts this spring at One Buc Palace, citing lingering concerns about The Sickness.

That doesn’t mean the Bucs aren’t prepared to get after it.

Do you remember who disregarded the directive from the NFLPA not to have teammates work out together last year, and organized his own workouts with his new teammates at Berkeley Prep? It was park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller-coaster-scared, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady.

It was fun to see how some reporters were hiding behind trees to get a glimpse of the workouts and TV stations rented helicopters to fly overhead to get footage.

(Pppsssttt: You can buy a drone with a camera for about the same as it costs to rent a chopper for an hour.)

So despite the boycott still planned for voluntary workouts at One Buc Palace, Bucs players are bracing for the order from Brady to get back on a football field.

At Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians’ foundation golf outing, Mike Evans spoke about plans to start catching passes from Brady, he told WFLA-TV Channel 8.

“We’re just waiting on the call,” Evans said. “Whenever he is ready to go. The workouts we do with Tom are probably a little harder than the ones we do at the facility.

“But I don’t mind. I like going with Tom and getting in some good work.”

So why are Brady’s workouts harder than the ones organized (normally) by the Bucs?

“Because it is a little earlier in the morning,” Evans laughed. “It’s about the same amount of running but a little earlier in the morning.”

Joe has no issue at all if the Bucs take their time. Since they were playing into February, every little bit of extra rest will pay off in January and February.

Another reason Joe isn’t worried about when the Bucs will work out? One word:

“Brady.”

I was initially a little worries about not doing the voluntary workouts but this is a veteran team. They will be fine especially due to the exemplary leaders on the roster.

Tom Brady…the pied piper of Tampa Bay! Man this is unbelievable how much he’s changed the entire culture/organization. Flashback to Winny who had every chance in the world to succeed…and instead ate a W which may as well have been a cyanide pill. Thinking back to Hard Knocks…his fascination/fixation with peeing off his porch should have been a “tell”. Anyways…at the ready for Mr. Brady.

I am still in the mode of “please don’t wake me and let this dream be over”.

    Dear Coach Belicheat,
Thank you from the bottom of our/my heart for letting Tom go. We Bucs fans are truly loving life with Tommy as our savior (no offense to Devin White). It is a joy to see how the other 1/32nd lived (past tense intended). We thank you.

    Sincerely,
    All Bucs Fans
(except Realist, NDog who are out humping sheep somewhere)

Yeah, like the team really practiced “social distancing” at the super bowl celebration! But I get it! A little more time off before the grind starts. They deserve it!

Rest those bodies and let Brady get this team ready to go. The 2nd time will be much more difficult. This team won the super bowl but as we saw during the run, they are 4 or 5 plays that could have sent them packing against Washington or even New Orleans. They need more focus this time around.

  12. Hodad Says:

I’m not worried about the vets, but after the draft the rookies, and young players need to hit the field. The vaccine is available now to all over 16. Using the covid for not gathering is a lame excuse. Just say you don’t want to report till you have to. The whole team had no problem gathering for Arian’s charity event, but are afraid to work out because of covid? Child please.

  13. SlyPirate Says:

    YES! YES! YES!

I had doubts about their work ethic after winning the SB. Come on! Evans, LVD had NEVER been to the playoffs and then they win the whole thing. You’d think they’d take time to enjoy it.

I love hearing their leaders are ready and chomping at the bit to get back to work.

    LFG!!!
