The Edge Rusher You Always Want

April 30th, 2021

New Bucs OLB Joe Tryon.

Hot damn, Joe’s neighbors are calling the law right now. Because Joe is freaking out like a madman.

THE BUCS PICKED AN EDGE RUSHER AT No. 32!!!

Remember when Joe and Ira hollered at each other on Ira’s pod over a pass rusher? The Bucs finally did it. You cannot have enough pass rushers in this league. You cannot. Especially in this division with Matty Ice and Sam Darnold and Jameis.

Welcome to Tampa, Joe Tryon!

Now this Joe is going to guzzle Big Storm Brewing beers!.

    I like it!!!!

  2. Swampbuc Says:

Let’s get drunk, Joe. This is a great “go for two” pick.

  3. Mitch Says:

I still think Azeez would have fit better, but I am just a fan. Hope the kid flourishes here!

  4. All lives matter Says:

smart pick ..so glad they didn’t waste it on a backup QB

  5. Aaron Says:

    1) was not the best player available
    2) the bucs have a massive leak – tryon at our pick was +120

  6. SKBucsFan Says:

Now we just need to trade OJ for Aaron Rodgers…get him to take minimal back up money, sit and learn from TB12 and all is good. This is too easy.

  7. The kid Says:

    Love it man
We had him pinned early too
    Guy we wanted
Welcome Joe. Let’s go get #3

  8. Swampbuc Says:

Hey Aaron — good thing you’re on your couch criticizing and JL, BA and friends are in the Licht House doing business. Joe Tryon sends his regards.

  9. SOEbuc Says:

I Looove how this guy is playing under JPP. He got picked because he’s got game and his gigantic length that can wrap around QBs and RBs in the backfield.

  10. Bucs Guy Says:

He wasn’t BPA or best Edge. BPA was LB from ND. Best Edge was Azeez from UGA. Nobody had Tryon ahead of him.

Going into the draft I would have been happy with this pick, now I’m just OK with it. But I trust JL and BA, so I hope it works out.

  11. ArmchairGM Says:

Love the pick. He has a year to sit behind JPP and Shaq to develop. Going to be a beast with Foote’s coaching.

  12. adam from ny Says:

what is his full last name??????

  13. Bucs Guy Says:

    Love it SKBucFan

  14. Buczilla Says:

Awesome pick, another dude to harass enemy qb’s. 😛

  15. BradyBucs Says:

Bucs scouting department has been solid for the past few drafts. They obviously saw something in Tryon that they didn’t see with the others that were still on the board.

  16. AlV Says:

He’s better then Anthony Nelson so I like the pick.

  17. Joe in Michigan Says:

Glad to see the Bucs get an edge rusher! My favorite thing to see when the Bucs play is them getting sacks!

  18. Bird Says:

Rush from left and right and from middle
    Pretty cool

He is a big dude that is ripped

  19. Aaron Says:

    Yawn…

  20. Bird Says:

Tryon dropped cause he sat out last year

Pretty sure coaches know who is a better fit

  21. Drew Says:

SKSBucsfan, just made me spit my beer out. lol

  22. Aaron Says:

SWAMPBUC – mark the tape – lets see…seems like a quick cut to me

  23. Red86 Says:

Called olb during our championship run. Welcome aboard the top defense Joe Tryon. When JPP and or Shaq needs a break, their production hopefully doesn’t stop.

  24. MadMax Says:

Welcome to the Bucs big Joe!!!!

Not gonna lie, I missed my homework on this one….getting caught up now….what a beast!

    Alright, O line next, Landon!!!

  25. JimmyJack Says:

I really dont care about the complaints. When I hear the complaints I always think back to drafting Noah Spence and how everbody said Licht just totally fleeced the league.

I cant wait to see thi kid play!!!

    GO BUCS!!!

  26. NYbucsfan Says:

I don’t know how I feel about the pick. He has not played football in a year.

  27. Swampbuc Says:

All the people whining about this — Derwangus James and Vita Vea. We got the beast then, we’ve gotten another beast now. Tomorrow there are quality LBs to be had as well as safeties, and some OL like the Creed center from the cow country. Tomorrow will be more funner than today.

    Go Bucs. Start drinkin!

  28. Medicated Pete Says:

Please Bucs trade up tomorrow & get 1 more potential stud. Screw the picks past round #2

  29. Bucanero Says:

I had a crush with JOK and feel a little disappointed he was there and we didn’t take him BUT I’l get over it. This dude Tryon has a high ceiling.

  30. Leighroy Says:

The Licht regime scouting team must really love Washington. ASJ, VV and now Tryon!

  31. Duane Says:

Todd Bowles is going to going to be bringing the heat this season. He has a bunch of guys he can shuffle around to dial up the pressure. This is likely a player that can contribute this season, and he doesnt even need to start.

  32. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Definitely the sleeper of the first round. Incredible profile. Would have gone higher if he play last season:

    Wingspan: 6’9”

    Vertical Jump: 35”

    40 yard Dash: 4.64, 4.69

    Bench Press: 22x

    3-Cone Drill: 7.18

  33. adam from ny Says:

    hi name isn’t really “Tryon”…

look at the back of his jersey…he has an ultra long name…

    but what is it???

    we don’t call jpp…jason pierre…

what is this young mans very very long last name?

  34. Bucs Guy Says:

I would love to see the Bucs get the C Jenkins fom OK ST or G/C Quinn M from Wisc-Whitewater. I’m concerned about the Ala C — too many injuries. Bucs will need to trade up for any of them. Trey Smith G from TN may still be there at 65 if they don”t trade up.

  35. Joe in Michigan Says:

Bucs Guy: Keep in mind that the Bucs, and the other NFL teams, know much more than we do about these guys. I’m talking about medical reports, interviews, background checks, etc.

  36. Capt.Tim Says:

    Yup
    Pass rusher,Joe Tryon
I, and alot of other people, called it.
When so many people are predicting the THIRTY SECOND pick in the draft- then you know he’s been the Bucs guy for awhile.
    Well done
Now Center, Defensive Tackle, and Safety.

Then a bunch of unhappy guys who we draft- because they have no chance of making the Super Bowl champs team!
Only a few spots available on this team!

  37. cmurda Says:

Joe T will be learning from 2 of the best. Coached by some of the best coaches. I like his chances. I won’t even pretend to know these draftees all that well after the top 10 picks. As soon as I saw Edge, I was happy. There’s really no disputing Joe’s claim regarding the importance of being able to rush the quarterback. Because Licht and company took the same stance is the reason the Lombardi resides in Tampa. I was hoping for Christian Barmore but I dig it.

  38. Colonel Angus Says:

Matty Ice, Sam Darnold and Jaboo, thats not quite the murders row that used to be of Drew Brees, Cam Newton and Matt Ryan. I like our chances. Good pick, fortify that front line, now lets add some DB, LB, and OL depth. And for Pete’s sake, can we get us a bonifide return man?!!! That is our 1 weak spot.

  39. Jerry Says:

Had a great 2019, opted out of 2020. Was great against the pass that year he played. Has the skill set and is Physically a great fit for a Todd Bowles-style of pass rush. He’s a bit raw and needs some coaching. Obviously Bowles sees a lot of upside.

  40. Mike Says:

Sitting out is a potential indicator of weak mentality!

  41. firethecannons Says:

I like it too, I think JPP will be a dynamic example for this kid

  42. Aaron Says:

31 other teams passed – hmmmm

  43. Kentucky Buc Says:

    Yeah that’s how u get to 32

  44. spicoli Says:

Didn’t see you cut on the tape a a ron…

  45. Bangkok Buc Says:

    Aaron,
By your logic, you’d be disappointed in anyone they picked at 32. You do realize that’s how drafts work right?

  46. 813bucboi Says:

kid or someone in his family couldve seriously been impacted by covid….stop bashing the kid for sitting out….

i love the pick…i had him and payton turner ranked the same….

his job this year is to develop, watch and learn….nelson and gholston will provide immediate depth for JPP…

    would love a DB tonight!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  47. Swampbuc Says:

Aaron — you are seriously brain damaged. Was it an impact injury or more related to drugs and alcohol?

  48. K2 Says:

There is only one problem with trying to grade players and drafts…everyone has a different answer key to the test. Tryon has the potential from day one to be good…and huge upside.
