Ryan Succop Remains Your Bucs Kicker

March 17th, 2021

Re-signs.

Boy, Joe sure got a kick out of this news!

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports that veteran kicker Ryan Succop has been re-signed by Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht. He will be kicking for the Bucs for three years (hopefully).

Pelissero notes Succop signed a three-year, $12 million deal with $6.25 million guaranteed, … Succop will garner $8.25 million over the first two years.

In the Buccaneers’ Super Bowl LV triumph over the Chiefs, Succop was perfect with four extra points in as many attempts and a field goal. He culminated a sensational season in which he went 28-of-31 on field goals with an exceptional postseason — 13-for-13 on three-pointers and 21-for-22 on extra points.

Joe is fired up right now! Joe’s goal for the Bucs was to retain Shaq Barrett, Chris Godwin and Ryan Succop. Those three were the most important free agents in Joe’s eyes. All three are back!

What a fantastic job Licht has done with this roster. Joe’s no accountant; has no idea how Licht pulled it off, but job well done, sir!

The Band of Bucs is almost back. Ndamukong Suh, Playoff Lenny and furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing Antonio Brown are still out there.

Outstanding. More cheers for Licht. What a job he is doing.

  3. Mr. B Says:

Licht gets an A. Ally’s if he signs Suh!

  4. Snook Says:

Sign Suh and Nacho. Then wake me up on draft day.

  5. Joe in Michigan Says:

  6. Scott Says:

Roberto aguayo cheaper probably needs a job lol

  7. ocala Says:

    Great job MR. Licht

  8. Erick Says:

This is great! Sign Suh and let the other 2 (Brown and Fournette) walk.

  9. mark2001 Says:

Scott..Aguayo…more slicing than a steakhouse blade.

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

3 missed FGs….2 were blocked & the other hit the uprights…I’d say that’s pretty good!!!

  11. Lee Says:

Shia you is still with pats.

  12. Pa Privateer Says:

Licht will wait to sign Suh for another week or 2 weeks. That will give Licht time to get under the cap deadline, then restructure some contracts and then sign Suh.

  13. Pa Privateer Says:

    Welcome back Succop!!

  14. RioDeJaneiroBucsFan Says:

Amazing!!!! LVD, Godwin, Shaq, Gronk and Succop, it’s like a dream!!! Minter and Stinnie are important too. Suh will probably be back soon and the market for AB seems very very thin. Apparently, Playoff Lenny is the only one question mark. Keep going Mr Licht (and Tequila Tommy)!!!

  15. Alaskabuc Says:

    @Chris Thomas
    That was classic, funny AF!

  16. August 1976 Buc Says:

Let the good times roll baby, Tom in the Huddle “1-2-3 DOMINATE” GO BUCS 2021!!

  17. mark2001 Says:

Suh in 11 seasons has earned 155 mil. AB in 11 about 77 mil. Per Spotrac.

I don’t think these guys have to be in a hurry.

  18. Dew Says:

Bucs need to put AB on the clock & sign Breshad Perriman back to the Bucs. He was great for us in 2019 & ran a 4.24 at the Combine.

  19. Mitch Says:

Good! Now the bucs just need to sign Suh, Nacho, a RB, and maybe AB….maybe.

  20. mark2001 Says:

Drew…Breshad was great when he was inspired…except for the one bizarre play where he ran into Jameis.

  21. TampaTown Says:

    Oh my goodness 💃🏼💃🏼

  22. Mitch Says:

Anyone think Cockrell should be retained? I feel like he stepped up for the bucs in a big way.

  23. Timbucs2 Says:

Avast! Yonder kicker has netted quite a bit of boot-y!

  24. Game film doesn't lie Says:

Wow!! This is great news. Keep it rolling Licht and company. Suh you are on the clock!

  25. Swampbuc Says:

I’ve got a warm and happy feeling welling up inside me. That or it’s the carbonation from the St Patrick’s Day beers.

    Huzzah!

  26. Bucanero Says:

    Good one

  27. Pickgrin Says:

Perhaps the most important FA signing of all – considering Succop will score far more points this year than any other Buccaneer.

I developed a personal ritual during the playoffs.

Every time the Bucs lined up for a Field Goal – I would say –
    “Don’t F*ck Up Succop”

And it always worked! He never missed. LOL

  28. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Nice Mr. Licht!

  29. lambchop Says:

Give Mike Greenberg a lot of credit!

  30. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

So nice to be able to go to the fridge or the can when Succop is kicking.

  31. 6throundpick Says:

    Cheers!

  32. mark2001 Says:

Swamp…. at least you haven’t been drinking that green Chicago river water…or that fizz would mean something completely different.

  33. Swampbuc Says:

    Hey mark2001 — LOL brother!!!

Yeah there’s nothing green about this stuff. It’s very very dark, almost opaque and kind of looks like a beef stew topped with mashed potatoes.

  34. rrsrq Says:

If the Bucs bring Suh back, that would be worthy of an investigation, ijs.

  35. AKickNtheBucNuts Says:

My nuts never felt so good.

  36. Perimeter Blocker Says:

Kickers win or lose at least 2 games a year. This guy has FIXED our kicking issue!

  37. adam from ny Says:

good news here but spending a lot…

i’m starting to get worried about if we can keep cam…

    #KeepCamBrate

  39. cmurda Says:

And you deserve every dollar of it Mr. Succop

  40. Swampbuc Says:

This thread gives me the giggles. That or it’s the additional carbonation from the additional St Patrick’s Day brews I’ve consumed.

  41. Natron Says:

I’m a Suck up for Succop!

  42. Buc4evr Says:

Best news today, expensive deal but if it keeps us from drafting or signing more bad kickers it’s well worth it. Wonder how many games we lost in the last decade because of bad kicking?

  43. Bucs Guy Says:

Get Suh signed and I would say awesome FA off season by the Bucs. Brown and Fournette are gravy if we can get either of them resigned. James White would be another bonus.

  44. BucEmUp Says:

Jason Licht has kicked ass man! Arians, Brady this is just insane.

Personally my second most important signing was Lavonte David no question. It is so much easier to replace a wr than it is a LB like David. Then its Succop, then Godwin, but Suh and Godwin were close for me.Godwin because of his youth and his awesome work ethic.

    This signing is huge!

  45. adam from ny Says:

    and nacho…

  46. Recardo Says:

Keep your day job idiot ..

  47. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Still can’t figure out how Licht pulled this off. Where is all the money coming from? How can we possibly sign Suh? I am guessing the Bucs have no money to sign draft picks. Most likely Brate or OJ will need to be cut or have their contracts restructured.

  48. BradentuckeyBuc Says:

We’re not losing again until after Tommy hangs em up! 48-0! You heard it here first!

  49. Gofor3 Says:

    Are these Buccaneers Irish?

Because our chances for another Super Bowl is Dublin!!!

Just had to throw that out for St. Patty day 🙂

  50. David Says:

This is awesome. One year ago today Brady signed.

    Now go get Suh back.
My guess is Lenny is on his way out and there’s a chance with AB but I just don’t see where the money‘s coming from anymore… But apparently Licht and crew do so what the hell do us mere mortals know anymore?!?
    LFG!!

  51. Gofor3 Says:

    Are

  52. David Says:

I don’t see how they’re under the cap unless Donovan Smith and Mike Evans restructure
    But….
    I don’t care anymore.

    Go for two baby!!

  53. REDZONE BA Says:

Holy crap – been in family medical situation so am catching up. JL is ROCKING!!!!

  54. Oxycondoms Says:

Solid kicker need him on the team wouldve given him 3.5 mil a year take it or walk.

  55. Joe Says:

Every time the Bucs lined up for a Field Goal – I would say –
    “Don’t F*ck Up Succop”

    🙂

  56. Buczilla Says:

Thank goodness. I am happy as a mf’er.

  57. cmurda Says:

@Oxy. And what would be the point of that? Save 1/2 million? Pfft. Have you seen the kicking game of the Bucs for the last several years?

Drew…Breshad was great when he was inspired…except for the one bizarre play where he ran into Jameis

I was AT that game on Nashville, was even on that end of the field. It was most embarrassing

  59. The Red Mirage Says:

I would love Suh back. Let Moping Lenny and crazy AB move on.

  60. REDZONE BA Says:

AB will re-sign. No options given his legal situation.

Suh? Dude is intellectual, not some meathead big dude, and will re-sign with Bucs. Recognizes the big picture.

  61. Darin Says:

You guys are directing your kuddos to the wrong people at times. Succop is Brady’s boy. You think Brady helped the finances to not have a great kicker? Think Succop coming in over a bucs draft pick right as brady came in was coincidence? Cmon man

  62. MadMax Says:

    YES!!!

    ….SUH UP NEXT!!!

  63. Bucsfanman Says:

    Yay! Kicking remains boring!

After years of nail biting and bated breath, I can finally feel confident in our ability to kick XPs!

  64. BucsBeBack (Artist formally known as: BringBucsBack) Says:

This is a huge signing! Not only did Succop perform but, this may have saved our second round pick;)

Also, don’t let that little fact of 22 touchdowns in four playoff games allude you! The Bucs should Succop more wins and rings next season!

  65. Confused Buc Fan Says:

Love the signing and know he had a great post season, but @Joe those numbers can’t be right. 13 fg’s and 22 PAT attempts? We didn’t score 22 td’s in the playoffs.

  66. TOM Says:

Believe me its not all Licht. Mike Greenberg deserves a lot of the credit. As BA & TB.
