Report: Look For Three-Year Extension For Tom Brady

March 9th, 2021

How many more years?

Joe thought the Bucs were taking a helluva gamble on a 43-year old quarterback doing the unprecedented and leading the Bucs to the playoffs.

Hell, Brady did even better and got the Bucs a Super Bowl win!

Instantly, Joe became a true believer and until otherwise proven, Joe will continue to believe Brady can get the job done no matter his age.

And it seems, per heavy metal headbanging NFL insider Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Bucs have placed deep faith into Brady, which could see his contract extended through the 2024 season.

He has one year at a modest $25M remaining on his deal, counting a hefty $25M against the cap. He wants that figure to be much lower, according to league sources, and so do the Bucs. He believes he can play three or more years, and so do the Bucs. He doesn’t want to move his family or play anywhere else and, you guessed it, the Bucs don’t want anyone but him under center for the foreseeable future.

So it says here, this contract extension will get done. The team could add three years to his deal, continue to pay him around the bargain rate he is making, and be well positioned to keep this thing going. The GOAT may currently be fourth in total compensation in 2021, but the fact he is behind Jared Goff and Carson Wentz – already jettisoned by their teams – and tied with Jimmy G, who very well may be next, speaks volumes (and once free agency wraps up Brady may well be outside of the top 10, anyway). This isn’t about ramping up his salary, but rather maintaining this level of compensation – which will only provide even more roster assistance as the cap begins to soar again as soon as 2022 – and lowering cap numbers and continuing to re-recruit free agents back to Tampa.

La Canfora noted the hard part for Brady is over; he learned his new offense and new coaches. He learned how to utilize his new teammates (and won a Super Bowl!). Brady, La Canfora types, desperately wants the Bucs to stay together because he believes they can do much more damage.

After hearing the stories about how Brady raised everyone’s game and taught his teammates not only how to win but demanded they play at a higher standard, this Brady is worth his weight in gold.

The fact Brady is willing to work for below-scale wages when he could demand Dak Prescott money — and be worth every penny — says a whole lot about the man to Joe.

Signing Brady as a then-43-year old quarterback was the smartest move Team Glazer made since they hired Chucky.

Love that this guy is on our team !

  2. Mike Says:

Did the glazers actually hire chucky? They traded for him

  3. Bird Says:

    Unbelievable

We buc fans deserve this after years of garbage ball
And he will take less to keep players. He always has…

The goat considers tampa home now.
    Thats ffffrrreeeeeeeddddddooooommmm

And his legacy means something to him. He will not play at a crap level. He just wont. He will retire when he cant do it anymore. And will write off rest of contract like brees. I think the florida beaches and warm weather have him rethinking the age thing.

I am so goad this will make a few people angry. Especially one loser on here.
Bet he plays for 20 mil next year.
    Thats a true team guy

    Suck it trolls

  4. Doug Says:

He’s the ultimate teammate, how did we get so lucky

  5. Pa Privateer Says:

Let Brady start scouting his own replacement…..someone he wants to teach and in the likeness of him…..

  6. Bird Says:

Watch others fall in line if this happens

They thought brady one more year to chase a ring
Now the window may be 3

Someone like godwin could do a 3 year deal and still be 28 and get another big contract
Lvd technically has 3 years at 31. Lvd – do 10 mil per year for home town discount

  7. Pa Privateer Says:

I am so excited to have Brady here and so at peace heading into the next couple years. Thank you MR. TB

  8. Cobraboy Says:

I don’t understand how Brady does it without eating W’s.

    /sarc

Any extension will make for more cap space in 2021, I predict. If Brady re-ups for three more years, why wouldn’t Godwin want to, even for a little less $$$?

  9. ModHairKen Says:

He ain’t taking a lesser deal only to see Godwin and Shaq leave. This is all coordinated.

  10. Snook Says:

I was pumped reading the headline but then saw the source. Ugh.

  11. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Great news!
Now we can be take the time to find his understudy while building the OL and DL.

I still can’t believe we have him!

    Go Bucs!

  12. Youngbucs Says:

Tom Brady the goat the missing piece exactly what we needed!!!!!

  13. Robert Says:

Best part about the article is no moniker on TB

  14. Youngbucs Says:

Brady came in and shattered Bucs records in 1 year if he play 2-3 more at this level he’ll own all buc records at QB. That will really piss off the 🤡s

  15. Leighroy Says:

Robert, I’m surprised the monikers don’t make it into the headlines at this point! 😂

  16. TiredBucsFan Says:

What a class guy he is. I’m so happy he is here. Thank you Mr Brady for everything!

  17. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Robert

You beat me to it……the only problem with the Brady extension is the extension of his monikers…..I simply can’t imagine how long that could get.

Joe has to make a decision……stop it….or let it get completely out of control.

As for Brady……he can play for the Bucs until his arm falls off and Gi$$ele leaves him.

  18. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

40+ years as a season ticket holder…3/4 of which was watching hot garbage while opposing fans (most of whom live here) rub our faces in it in our own stadium……. Thank you Tom for coming here and making it all worthwhile. Every hardcore Buc fan deserves this run.

  19. LISTNFRMAFAR Says:

Prescott just signed a 4 yr $164mm contract with $136 guaranteed and no trade claus. How can a team win when the majority of its cap is going to QB’s. Mahomes $45mm, Dak $41mm, Watson $39mm & Wilson $35mm with the exception of Mahomes and KC will start feeling the effect of Mahomes contract it’s no wonder these QB’s are bitching because.their teams suck, they get all the money. If you work just for money you’ll probably never be happy. Brady seems happy.

Oneilyall, Jamais wasn’t happy, wanted $30mm, he only has $27mm to go.

  20. The Red Mirage Says:

I hope the report is correct, La Confora’s is usually wrong. Don’t know how the dude keeps his job.

  21. FortMyersDave Says:

Winning is numero uno on Brady’s agenda, he realizes that by freeing up some coin the Bucs and him get to keep some players on their wish list and at the same time Brady is making beaucoup bucks, albeit not the same coin as Dak just got out of Jerry Jones.

  22. Buc4evr Says:

I think Brady is smart. A lot more income is going to come from the publicity, his businesses, endorsements, and when he retires in the broadcast booth. He is continuing to build a legacy that no one will ever touch in the nfl. More important than money at this point in his life.

  23. Joe in Michigan Says:

A 3 year extension could mean a Big Ben/Pittsburgh-type cap savings for the Bucs, which was $19 million for 2021.

  24. August 1976 Buc Says:

It would be nice to get at least 1 more Super Bowl win with Brady in Tampa. 2 more would be even better. Bottom line is, that is not pie in the sky thinking but a distinct possibility. With the GOAT and core talent, plus the ring chasers coming in for the next couple of years, the wild ride will continue. BTW reserve your spot now for the next boat parade in Tampa lol GO BUCS!!!!!

  25. LVMYBUCS Says:

He is going to end up coaching the Bucs.

  26. SufferingSince76 Says:

But I thought the Bucs had mortgaged the future? LOL. The silence of the naysayers speaks volumes.

  27. buc15 Says:

man Gisselle is going to be pissed lol

  28. Cobraboy Says:

Just think: 15 fewer INT’s & turnovers, and we could have had a QB eating W’s.

  29. ocala Says:

Tom is incredible! Bucs are very lucky to have him.

  30. LISTNFRMAFAR Says:

Off topic, Kay is SMOKIN today!!!

  31. Joe Says:

He ain’t taking a lesser deal only to see Godwin and Shaq leave. This is all coordinated.

    Hope you are right.

  32. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Signing Brady was the best move in Buc franchise history

  33. SC Bucs Fan Says:

If Brady is staying then should Godwin leave there will be a line of WR wanting to take his place. Stay and win or leave and watch your old team crush it.

  34. DoooshLaRue Says:

I thought drafting JayMiss was the best move we ever made?

    So much football IQ.
    So much upside.
    Great personality.
The ability to put a team on his back.
    Great smile.

    Total Bull$hitter!
    😂😂😂😂😂😂

  35. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    hehehehehe!

The NFC South just crapped a brick.

  36. DoooshLaRue Says:

    ^^^^

    I shouldn’t have said that.

I’m truly blessed and I gotta quit turning my responses over.

I just have to reply to these articles better, you know what I’m sayin?

    Check my sheet.

  37. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

DoooshLaRue, it amazes me on how some people can’t let the past go.

Winston is certainly no Brady, but I still believe he’ll be pretty good when all is said and done.

Tom is our QB now, and I’m happy.

  38. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

He gets a part of the jersey sales, right? He’s losing nothing…not to mention a man who takes care of himself like that probably invested very well too.

  39. SC Bucs Fan Says:

Bonzai keep wishing on Winston. I guess hope is what JW has now. Hope and a lot of money.

  40. DoooshLaRue Says:

I had to hear about how great JayMiss was and how I was a racist for wanting him gone.
5 freaking years of that garbage.
While I’m ecstatic about our current team and SB win I’m not forgetting all the past BS.

Consider this my victory lap around the Nuthugger Brigade.

And I don’t think even Sean Payton can fix the special kind of stupid that is the Soiled Messiah.

Keep your chin up Bonzai, and your hand gently cupped around them balls.

    Slurp, slurp.

  41. Bird Says:

    ^^^

    😂
    Im dying

  42. Old school Buc Says:

My money is on Brady for Super Bowl 56. Why the hell would anyone think otherwise

  43. Will Says:

I love that we’ve got Brady however it seems all those saying that the other QBs in the league need to take the Brady deal to keep their team together are forgetting that none of those other QBS have a wife who was the highest paid model in the world for years. I saw something that said she’s worth 400million while Brady is worth 200million. So for those asking how much money does it take to set your family up for life answer me this with that same thought. With the amount that The Brady’s have shouldn’t he take even less? My answer is NO but using some peoples logic he’s taking too much LMAO
    GO BUCS!

  44. adam from ny Says:

omg brady is thinking 10 rings then…

    one for each finger…

    yo this is possible…

a mini post patriots dynasty in tampa with say…3 superbowl victories…

    holy moly…add extra guac !

  45. adam from ny Says:

he’s probably preaching to the boys…

“take less, win more, rock a dynasty right here in tampa”…

however that could be falling on deaf ears if some dudes just care about the most green they can snag

  46. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

Will you beat me to it. Brady definitely had a nice fall back plan in place. She definitely won’t be happy, but what can she say? Unless she’s willing to stop modeling and stay home all day every day she needs to let him have his passion inbuilt he’s done. Besides they haven’t been together fit 40,50 years so how long does she think they’ll last if he’s forced to be around her constantly at the young age of 45? We men need that space from our woman just to keep our minds right!

What’s great about Brady is that in the age of the Me Myself and I generation, he gives up so others can have so that everybody can have a chance to know what being champions feel like. Class act all the way.

  47. David Says:

    Brady is about rings.
He’s already a multimillionaire. He has TB12 and other endorsements. He is a brand that can market himself for the next few decades. He has a supermodel wife that has made more than him.
All that matters because the reality is he can take a lot less to make sure they can sign other players. He knows that’s how you get more rings.
As much as we all want to point to the quarterback, it is a team game and all the players matter more so than any other sport to get wins.

DAK it’s about to get 40 million a year. I know the TV contracts are going to explode soon but The Cowboys aren’t going to do anything this year. The offense has a battered line and the defense was horrible and now they have a quarterback taking 22% of the salary cap. Crazy

  48. Gabriel in LA Says:

“After hearing the stories about how Brady raised everyone’s game and taught his teammates not only how to win but demanded they play at a higher standard, this Brady is worth his weight in gold.”

Brady listed at 225 lbs. = 3600 oz.
    Gold is ~$1700 per oz.

    $1700 x 3600 = $6,120,000

So based on his 2020 salary Brady is worth far more than his weight in gold.
