Lightning Shaq

March 19th, 2021

One champion visited another last night. Real recognized real.

Freshly-signed Bucs outside linebacker and sack king Shaq Barrett threw on a sweet customized Lightning jersey and visited the reigning Stanley Cup champs at the Ice Palace. Even took his friend Vinny (the Vince Lombardi Trophy) with him.

Shaq sat at the desk of Lightning TV host Paul Kennedy for a brief chat. As he has stated in previous interviews since re-signing with the Bucs, Shaq didn’t want to play anywhere else and praised the Bucs as a top-shelf organization.

Man, Shaq looked sharp in Lightning blue. Yeah, Joe knows it was the Lightning who came up with the idea of a championship boat parade and the Lightning are Stanley Cup Champions, but you don’t think they could use Shaq as a defenseman? Or maybe a forward?

You can see Shaq’s full appearance in the FOX Sports Sun video below.

Shaq getting the love he’s earned. His wife is a wonderful lady. I sat in that same luxury suite when PRINCE came here in 1998

  3. '79 Defense Says:

Yeah, you have to thank the Lightning, or whoever brought up the idea to them, for the boat parade.

We needed Shaq back as clearly a 1A or 1B priority.

And for me, he will now be a Buccaneer forever.
Well worth his 17.5 million salary a year.

  7. David Says:

Absolutely love this! I was watching the game last night when they talked to him and he had the trophy with him.
    Love the Buccaneers and Lightning!!
Both have fantastic chance to repeat.

    Be The Thunder and L.F.G!

Both “Boat Parades” were just awesome. I hope the Lightning and Bucs have created a new tradition for Tampa Bay Sports teams.

If the Rays ever win a Series or USF a National Title, I realize that’s going to happen about the same time as monkeys fly out my butt but you get my drift.

That video of Brady tossing the Lombardi and the boat parade on a typically beautiful Tampa day had our rivals fans up north in the snow just peoed. We beat them and then rub their faces in it by saying look who has scoreboard in climate and beauty.

No more street parades for Championships. That announcers and public will pick up on it and whenever the Bucs or Lightning are playing for a title broadcasters will say they’re playing for that glorious trip on the Hillsborough river.

It is so great to be flying my Lightning and Bucs flags in tandem from my front balcony.

Succop Signed!!! 3 year deal at 12 Million with 6.25 Million guaranteed. Good job Bucs!!!

  11. Cainishere Says:

Really only Suh remains to be had and I am sure that anchor will be signed.

  12. Mitch Says:

I fully believe Suh is going to sign back with the bucs.

However, if something unforeseen happens is Geno Atkins, at this point in his career, a good plan B?

  13. David Says:

    StPeteBuc…..

Absolutely. Any championship team in Tampa Bay must always have a boat. Period much better and unique

  14. Espo Says:

Shaq seems all about Tampa and I love it. That throwback Williams jersey was a big deal to me.

Am I the only one tired of journalists trying to use urban youth lingo like “real recognize real” to sound hip? Give it a rest.

I don’t ever recall Shaq doing press like this in the past… I hope he’s not someone that gets a big deal then get lazy. Not saying he is, but I’ve seen him all over the place lately, on tons of shows and podcasts. Hopefully he gets it out of his system and doesn’t fall in love with needing to get attention. Not at all saying he is or anything, it’s just a slightly worrying blimp on the radar to keep an eye on.
