Gronk Claims He’s Back (But Where?)

March 11th, 2021

Returning to Bucs?

Lately, Bucs foot-rubbing, car-littering tight end Rob Gronkowski has been giving subtle hints on social media that he’s coming back to play football in 2021, but they stop just short of saying he’s playing for the Bucs.

Gronk gave solid hint again last night that he’s returning to play, but again, didn’t mention his team.

In an interview for TMZ.com, Gronk said, yep, he’s back, baby.

“I’m coming back to play football,” Gronk said, curiously not mentioning the Bucs in his declaration. “I will be back playing football, man. I love the game of football. I loved playing last year. I had a great time.”

Please let Joe point out that at no point in the two-minute, 44-second interview did Gronk mention the Bucs, Tampa or even Florida. Just that he was coming back to play football. However, Gronk did a few times refer to the Bucs as “we” and “us” when talking about winning the Super Bowl in February.

Gronk also gave fans a peek as to why Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht and Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians are trying so hard to bring the band back together. Yeah, the obvious reason is the Bucs just won the Super Bowl.

Gronk raved about how all his Bucs teammates were so unselfish, and they all sacrificed a little personal glory and did what they had to do to win without anyone moaning or groaning about not getting the ball.

Whoever Gronk is playing for this fall, he seems stoked for the upcoming season.

Love that attitude and confidence. Team player. Unselfish. Work your magic Licht and let’s get a fifth for Gronk! Go Bucs

  2. NCFlorIdiot Says:

Yeah, the “we’s” and “us” were all about the Bucs… Hopefully the “unselfish” part carries over into his contract negotiations so he and everyone else can resign… Love Gronk! Go Bucs!

  3. August 1976 Buc Says:

I do not see him playing anywhere else with Brady on the Bucs. Maybe after TB leaves if the money overrides the wear and tear on his body. Stay on the Bucs Super Bowl Express Gronk.

    “Holy Gronkamoli” GO BUCS!!!

  4. Swampbuc Says:

He’s the killer beast but I want Shaq then Suh and the D-depth dudes all before the Gronk. So if he wants top dollar he does it elsewhere, if he wants another ring he stays in Tampa.

    Stay with me stay!

  5. Chris Thomas from Heaven Says:

He’s TB12’s security blanket & an amazing teammate. Great time to be a Bucs fan

  6. theanswer3 Says:

He literally says in the video that he needs to make room on his new trading cards for a 5th championship. He 100% is talking about coming back to the Bucs.

  7. BREVARD BUC Says:

He’s as valuable as any tackle in the game.
He’s proven it with his blocking skills one on one.
Ask Cam Jordan, Chase Young, Justin Houston, Zadarius Smith.

Oh yeah and he has great hands! Sign him! If your smart!
He’s a glue guy, who makes the offense even better when he’s on the field!

  8. BREVARD BUC Says:

A top 100 All Time player!

Nothing to even think about! Sign him!

  9. Bird Says:

Gronkowski has 60 mil in career earnings. Thats pretty good for a tight end who played for a cheap owner/coach

If i had to guess there is a 95 percent chance he is back with bucs
He came back for brady. He came out of retirement for another ring.
He is smart enough to know he cant comment on bucs especially when some loyal long time bucs will not be back. His prior comments month ago all said bucs…but its part if season when players need to be careful what they say.

The only other minor chance would be dolphins just cause he has relationship with their coach flores and his main residence is in south beach somewhere. But you think he wants to catch balls from tua? Nah.

Its just the compensation part i am worried about. Will he take 6 mil here? Cause they will not have much to spend.

  10. LISTNFRMAFAR Says:

He took a year off and still shined in this offense. Bucs kept him healthy, BL picked his spots with him and he has stated in the past he will not catch passes from any other QB. Maybe Bucs trying to get him on a team friendly deal that is to friendly. Major blow to offense without Gronk. I doubt Brady isn’t going to whine a little if the Bucs were trying to take away his binky.

  11. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

100% bucs when he talks he just figures its implied and gronk is a simple dude and speaks gronkese….obv he means the bucs nothing to deep here to translate

  12. Casual Observer Says:

    Sign him. High priority.

  13. Cobraboy Says:

“Holy Gronkamole”…now that is funny, August 1976 Bucs…

  14. 6throundpick Says:

He is. He just needed time to heal. All better. And, yes, he was not on for the first half of last season. The running is way better with Gronk in there, and he makes the big plays. Who do you cover in this offense?

  15. PSL Bob Says:

What impressed me was how strongly he promoted the unselfish nature of his team mates. Tons of talent. Everyone did their part. No one complained about not getting the ball enough. You think that’s going to apply to other teams? Certainly not most. I just can’t see him going somewhere else next year. He will get his money, but he will also accommodate a contract that minimizes this year’s hit to the cap space.

  16. Robert Says:

He’s great because of his chemistry with Tb and blocking. I don’t think we should overpay…no more than 7-8 mill. He has gotten a lot slower and can be covered pretty easily. A lot of those TD plays teams were expecting him to block and he was wide open. I’d keep Brate over him provided he can block as well or learn to, but then we’d have to keep OJ, who is not usually on the field. Tough call………but you’d have to lean towards keeping Gronk. Cut OJ either way.

  17. Steve Lahey Says:

Boss-ton weights in. Watch out for big market team(s) coming into GRONK’S big picture window. With the multiple products he is invested in and big markets able to aide into his future. GRONK could fit into #12’s thinking too. Success away from his quarterback of 4 rings.

  18. BA4President Says:

Isn’t this a non-story? Does anyone really think that he is going to play for a QB other than Brady?

I am not one to use the word “shocked” often, but I would be shocked if he signed with a different team in 2021.

  19. BA4President Says:

    Agreed @Dusthty Rhothdes

  20. HeyItsAdam Says:

He’s not playing without Brady. He was a lock to re-sign.

  21. Bird Says:

Here is the best case scenario when he comes back to tampa

He is working out this offseason. He will be in football shape when season starts.

Last year …He literally came off his talk show host couch to play. He was not really apart of offense at first while still getting football legs back.

No reason he cant put up better numbers next year.

  22. Ben green Says:

He’ll take peanuts. It’s probably his last year. Rest easy bucs fans, he won’t play with anyone but brady. When BB had him traded to detroit, gronk said he’d just retire rather than play for another Qb

  23. BillMFL Says:

Gronk is here to stay at least one more year. No incentive to leave his buddy Tom and have a real shot at another Super Bowl for a few dollars more. Bring in White and Tom has everything he needs. Focus draft pics on a pass rushing stud, a development rb with potential, and best defensive and offensive line prospects. Also a db with development potential. After round two the big names will be mostly off the board so scouts need to focus on size, speed, skill guys at any position from lesser known conferences as development prospects. The Bucs are not desperate for immediate starters. Depth and future potential work for long term build. If Shaq stays there will be no really urgent needs.

  24. Kobe Faker Says:

“unselfish like $10 million dollars for a partime player?

Can you imagine the look Blondie will give if the Glaser’s offer the vet minimum contract for next year

Kobe sees alot of similarities with Gronks Blondie and Alex Forrest in the movie Fatal attraction

Kobe Faker can smell Glasers rabbit soup from here in Lakeland”

    Kobe Faker

  25. Hodad Says:

If Brate is worth 6.5 million, which I don’t think he is, Gronk is worth ten million. Gronk will be back. His blocking, leadership, and productivity is well worth the price. Tommy, and Gronky will ride off into the sunset together.

  26. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I can’t imagine playing for anyone but Tom Brady, can you ?

  27. Im not tired anymore we Super Bowl Champs!! Says:

I would drop one of the other TEs if need be to keep Gronk. It’s as simple as that. Go Bucs!

  28. daniel Da Man Says:

He will be back. Gronk knows fame is fleeting. One more super bowel ring

  29. Julian James Says:

In 2018 Bellichick was trying to trade Gronk, whose looked like he was in sharp decline. According to Ian Rappaport, Gronk’s reply to Bellichick was that he’d retire rather than play for a different team, and he also told people close to him he “only wants to catch passes from Tom Brady.””, so it seems he’s in it at this point to play with Tom.

  30. BucsCoolade Says:

Gronk is a student of bradys longevity training. They are a great partnership. Hes a great team player. Hope he gets resigned.

One thing that I noticed was last 2 super bowls had the best TEs in football. Kelcey v. Kittle, then kelcey v. Gronk.

Dont underestimate the value of a great TE on your team.!

  31. BucsCoolade Says:

Another point is that bradys offense without gronk in his last year in NE was average or worse. How much they missed gronk hard to measure but significant. Saying they would have made it to the SB with gronk is something NE fans have to deal with.

  32. Gofor3 Says:

I read that he has virtual trading cards (don’t ask me how that works) and whoever gets a certain one gets to meet Gronk and attend a BUCS game next year…. spoiler alert?

  33. Jerry Jones Says:

Per a close source, Gronk talked about being on the beach yesterday but never mentioned he was actually standing on sand.

  34. Bob P. Says:

It’s a lock. If he plays next year, it will definitely be Tampa Bay. Just ask TB12.

  35. Bob P. Says:

If Brady is back, you can take it to the bank that Gronk will be back too.
