Gisele Bündchen And Tom Brady’s Contract

March 3rd, 2021

“Tom, that’s enough football.”

Joe will guess that most of the CBS-TV audience watching last night’s “Late, Late Show” with James Corden heard what they felt was a cute, heartwarming story of a famous and wealthy couple in love, sharing a confetti-filled moment seconds after the Bucs won their second Super Bowl in the House That Sapp Built — supermodel Gisele Bündchen and park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, trophy-throwing Bucs Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady.

For Joe, the story sent Joe’s antennae straight up and it began a night of eating Pepcid AC like M&Ms.

Brady was a guest on the “Late, Late Show” and had cool stories, especially about his throwing the Vince Lombardi Trophy to Cam Brate. Brady, who dabbled in tequila that afternoon, admitted his memory of the incident wasn’t all that clear.

But it was Brady’s story of what his wife, Bündchen, said to him after winning Super Bowl LV that gave Joe the shivers.

A bit of a flashback before Joe continues.

Remember when Brady first signed with the Bucs and he appeared on the “Howard Stern Show?” Brady told Stern that Bündchen was about to divorce him if he didn’t start devoting more time to the family and less to football? And as a result, Brady quit going to OTAs with the Belicheats?

So get a load of what Bündchen told Brady while Bucs players were still dripping with sweat from playing in the Super Bowl, as Brady recounted for Corden last night on national TV.

“… [A]nd then all of a sudden I saw my wife and I gave her a big hug, and just as I did it she says, ‘What more do you have to prove?'” Brady said.

Uh, oh.

Now recently, Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht said he was interested in extending Brady’s contract, both to free up some cash under the salary cap and have Brady stick around longer. His current contract expires after the 2021 season, and Brady has said in the past his goal was to play until he is 45. He turns 44 in August.

So far, that contract extension with Brady hasn’t happened.

Could Bündchen be just about fed up with her husband playing football? Remember, the two just bought a palace in a swanky neighborhood on Indian Creek Island in Biscayne Bay. It’s where some of the wealthiest and most famous Americans live. For example, Brady’s new neighbor is Ivanka Trump.

Joe guesses Brady and Bündchen didn’t drop $17 million on a crib just to live there two or three months a year.

If the Bucs cannot get Brady to sign an extension, could it be because Bündchen put her heel down and told her husband no more football after this year or it’s time to find another wife (not that he would struggle with this task)?

  1. DISCOYAK Says:

You saw how excited his kids were watching their dad play all year right? Do you think Gisele really wants to take that away from them?

  2. Defense Rules Says:

Odds are definitely against Brady playing again in 2022. You’d better stock up on your Pepcid AC Joe.

  3. AKicknTheBucNuts Says:

With Bündchen threatening to become a free agent, Tom might want to draft a younger talent to develop and take over for her when she leaves.

  4. Duemig from HELL Says:

His wife loves living down here in hotter than hell weather. Hell is fantastic

  5. Buczilla Says:

I wasn’t too worried about what position we drafted at 32 until I read this. Maybe investing a pick or two on a qb this year is a good idea…

  6. teacherman777 Says:

    Beware of women young men.

They are needy, manipulative, materialistic and depressive creatures.

Brady is a King but his wife is still not satusfied.

She brought him down at one of his highest moments.

Why would she say something negative at that point?

  7. BuccaneerButters Says:

I still say screw it, invest in the lines. As much as I love Trask, with the way this team is built, it’ll be like the Chiefs. The rookie qb will have a loaded team offensively and the defense should be just fine as well. 5 years of a cheap qb with what we have on offense we’ll be fine. So wait till next year or whenever Brady retires. We have at least one more.

  8. Colin in Canada Says:

She’s not wrong. Brady has nothing left to prove.

  9. adam from ny Says:

    don’t listen to her tommy…

don’t let wifey bundchen put you in deep check…

stay strong, stay focused and play ball for 2 more years…

go for the trifecta in tampa…

then hang ’em up and chill

  10. Alanbucsfan Says:

Whatever Brady decides to do in the future, he could still sign an extension this year in order to free up cap money. If he signed an extension and then did decide to retire after 2021, Bucs would have to deal with dead cap money issues, but I say go for another championship Now while the Bucs have the talent and Brady will also likely attract FA talent this year.

  11. LISTNFRMAFAR Says:

Oh boy this was one of the beginnings to the end in New England, she was up his backside to quit then. Tommy may have to read up on David Sandler and put his sales hat on.

  12. JimmyJack Says:

Brady could announce retirement today and it wouldnt bother me one bitty bit. But he arent doing that. We going for another freaking ring.

But Joe i feel like there should be good reason why you call it the House that Sapp Built….but no link.

  13. Bobby M. Says:

If the QB from North Dakota falls, i’d like to see us draft him. Last year i felt Jalen Hurts was the steal of the draft, he lasted until the 3rd rd. This guy reminds me a lot of Hurts from an athletic standpoint. With no rush to get him on the field, he might polish up well sitting behind brady for a year or two…or three.

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We’ll have two indicators…….extension & draft……..his extension may give him an opt-out……but if we draft a QB, that’s a good sign we have Brady for only one more year.

  15. Bird Says:

Watch the interview. Its pretty good.

Again , giselle will let her man walk on water until he cant anymore.
She knows what football means to him
And how great is it to retire at 45, 46 , 47 etc etc and never have to work another day in their lives. She knows . He will play until his arm lets him know.
He will not play garbage ball and ruin his legacy

  16. Bruce Blahak Says:

Mac Jones…trade up…fn bitches ruin careers

  17. Chris L Says:

Way to start terrible misogynistic comments about women with this article. If he doesn’t sign a contract extension no big deal. He is fulfilling his two year contract and whatever happens it was a success. We won the damn super bowl. This wasn’t about continually bowing out of the divisional round.

  18. crazyBucs_CL Says:

..two years fun….can’t ask more….thank you TB12. Lets enjoy the second year. We all know what come after that… “the long winter” . so one more year fun.

  19. Mark2001 Says:

I’d tell Tom of he doesn’t want to extend, we will look in the draft for someone to groom a couple years… If the right guy is there. If he thinks next year is probably it, why shouldn’t we?

  20. Bucsfanman Says:

Ya’ll are funny with “the talk” but know full well that our wives run the show. If you say they don’t, you’re either single or haven’t been married long!
And Gisele?! Man please! She’d have most of you crawling on your knees and you KNOW it. I would!
Face it guys, women rule the world. If they ever united we’d be in big trouble!

Lastly, FAMILY is more important than football. That’s as a player or a fan. How easily we forget.

  21. Robert Says:

She is right. Bad timing, but that happens often….. but REALLY bad timing

  22. Davenport Buc Says:

I think that people are reading way too much into that.

  23. Cobraboy Says:

    Overreaction.

Brady has stated clearly he wants to play until 45. I doubt at 43 he’d play anywhere else.

Barring major injury, he has at least two more years on his schedule.

  24. Cobraboy Says:

@Bucsfanman: I guess you never had to read Lysistrata in school…

  25. Cobraboy Says:

IF all a new QB needs is a solid line and weapons around him to be successful, why not Gabbert?

  26. Jason From Jamrock Says:

    well said @Bucsfamman.
You’ve gotten an idea of how much time he dedicates to playing ball.
We have no idea what its like at his home.
She wants her husband, and her children’s father.

Give us another year GB, please!

  27. Capt.Tim Says:

    Teacherman- spot on!
I think Brady is 4 more years and Out.
He wants it all. All the records. Everything.
And he can have it. The Bucs just gotta keep their end of the bargain, and keep him surrounded by talent.

  28. geno711 Says:

she says, ‘What more do you have to prove?'” Brady recalled with a smile.

“And what did you say in that moment?” Corden pressed.

“I just gave her a big hug. I was trying to think of a way to change the subject really quick,” Brady added.

  29. View from 132 Says:

The House that Sapp Built?? Are you trolling us? What an insult to so many other Buc greats that have played at Raymond James. I’ve enjoyed this blog, but if I see that reference again, I’m done. Sapp was a good player, sure, but he was one of the most overrated, played to the cameras, took a ton of plays off and was nowhere the impact of at least four other guys in the 2002 defense. Like Lee Flowers said after the Monday Night beatdown against the Steelers – “Aint nobody care about no Warren Sapp.”

If you mean fan favorite that changed the culture at Ray Jay, not purely the best Buc to play there – well, that’s easy too. The A-Train sold more tickets than Sapp, and created more great memories for fans.

  30. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

Wives are infamous for letting the air out of the balloon, aren’t they?

Just when you are in your most euphoric moment, often because of something your wife contributed to, they kick you in the balls with some misplaced comment.

  31. buc15 Says:

Women are all about keeping men from doing what they love.

  32. TampaTown Says:

Good Lawd! Does any man on here have a good experience with women?
Teacherman: all your comments apply to men as well.
Haven’t any of you ever met someone who makes you happy to be around, likes to drink and hang out, loves football and your friends, and doesn’t need your money because she has her own?

  33. August 1976 Buc Says:

Hey A Rodgers, Brady is keeping the seat warm. Just wait a year and come on down lol. In the NFL right now, the Bucs are prime real estate for a QB to come and play. Going to be interesting who ends up here after Brady. Better hold off on any doom and gloom scenario. Other QBs see how the Bucs have given Tom what he wants. The Bucs want to win. Bucs will be very relevant for years to come. GO BUCS!!!!

  34. Coburn Says:

Sadly tampatown, no not really. Marriage had its moments, but mostly walking on egg shells and don’t think she ever actually loved me, just what she thought I could provide. Im sure others have though… Those married couples I know still together are just kinda familiar / comfortable at best.

There is something to every guy giving up things he loves doing when he gets a gf/wife and only thing that really comes to mind is men tend to be a lot more passionate/competitive towards hobbies. I know some cool girls that are into hiking/hockey and stuff, but know more that don’t seem to have any hobbies at all

  35. PassingThru Says:

So much misogyny in here… but too much of it is true.

“So why don’t you dancing anymore?”

“You spend more time with your buddies than with your family”

“You know it’s Friday night, right? You know what you have to do” (it’s not sex, it’s garbage night)

    etc. etc. etc.

Look, Gisele is richer than Tom, so she’s not sticking it out because he’s the meal ticket. But give the woman her due, lots of women in that position wouldn’t be as supportive.

  36. Coburn Says:

I pretty much never saw any friends… My bestie like once a year (still played online. Always guilted every time I tried to make plans. A lot of reconnecting to do.

But you’re right, I think for most part she’s been supportive. And she wasn’t just looking for a supporter

  37. Sesteprenelicus Says:

Brady is an addict to winning. I honestly believe he would let Gisele divorce him before he’d stop competing when he wants to.

Pretty Tom could pull a new (younger) model in about 5 seconds.

  38. crayhopper Says:

That that was the first thing out of her mouth tells you where her head is at. 2022 definitely not guaranteed.

  39. LISTNFRMAFAR Says:

Mark2001 said it. If he has no want to extend, Gieselles input or not, get him involved in next QB, then he is motivated to mentor him or her!

Look the guy has played for 21 years soon to be 22 without a serious injury. Can you blame her for not wanting to be with a husband that could be drinking his dinner through a straw? He has beat all odds let’s hope his luck doesn’t run out.

Happy wife, happy life. Nothing wrong with that. Yes I enjoy time golfing and hanging with friends but my wife is my best friend so I value her opinion.

  40. David Says:

I heard that too. I think it was more in fun. By all accounts, they are loving Tampa and the beach and water and their life here. It has struck me over this year how genuinely down to earth and excited and happy she seems whenever they win. She looks like she enjoys it and loves it.
I didn’t know much about her other than she was one of the highest paid supermodels in the world for years. Her personality is completely opposite of what the perception of that is. Both of them actually. They seem real genuine and seem to be really enjoying it here. I see them extending for 2 more. Not 3 though

  41. TOM Says:

If Trask is there at 32, should the Bucs draft him?

  42. Oneilbuc Says:

    Tom. I say yes.

  43. firethecannons Says:

we have another year, do not count on more

  44. PassingThru Says:

The comments here are funny, but seriously… fans in New England blamed Gisele for making Tom complacent, ruining his drive. That was 4 Super Bowl victories ago.

  45. 6throundpick Says:

    #EyesOn8 And 8 is not enough…

  46. REDZONE BA Says:

How many 7X SB ring QB’s have a wife who earns more than him?

  47. REDZONE BA Says:

    Hit send too quick —
Gisele influence should not be overlooked….

  48. Long time Brady fan says Says:

We have Tom for at least next year and a shot at an 8th ring. After that who knows? It has been a great ride for 20+ years. Geisle is a great supportive wife for Tom. For someone who has dominated her profession for a similar period of time she has been very patient. After next year the negotiations get more complicated especially as the children get older.
