“My Goal Here Is To Have A Statue Of You In Front Of That Stadium”

February 24th, 2021

Just hours before Joe took this photo, general manager Jason Licht was in a pensive mood sitting alone with Bucco Bruce Arians.

Licht told the story on Peacock network yesterday to host Rich Eisen.

The GM explained that after Arians signed to coach the Bucs the two were sitting in Licht’s office having a happy chat and discussing where they would share a celebratory drink. (These are not men who celebrate with fine sushi or a trip to watch the sunset.)

Licht then looked out his window at One Buc Palace, gazed at The Licht House (formerly the Den of Depression) and told one of his dreams to Arians.

“My goal here is to have a statue of you in front of that stadium,” Licht said.

He went on to tell Eisen that an Arians statue would mean they got the job done together.

“We moved a little closer to that. He’s one of a kind, and I’m so happy for him and his family,” Licht said.

Joe hopes the statue dream comes true. Hell, Joe’s still waiting for the Jason Pierre-Paul statue commemorating his double-digit sacks total in 2018, which broke an embarrassing team streak that dated back to Simeon Rice.

But Joe has a better idea than an Arians statue: put Arians in the Buccaneers Ring of Honor next season.

Why wait, Team Glazer? He’s going in there one day anyway and he’s not the healthiest candidate on the planet. Joe can already envision Arians’ buddy Blake Shelton giving a pregame concert and a sponsor-paid, Arians-style Kangol hat for all in attendance.

Somebody owes me 100 dollars I told y’all @Joe would never stop calling this place the Den of depression no matter what we won a SUPERBOWL and he still speaks about it no matter what this team does at home even if we win a SUPERBOWL in it it’ll always be the Den of D to Joe. Another reader who enjoys making things up. Hope you’re having a great day. –Joe

Celebratory drinks, fine sushi, and watching a sunset are. It diametrically opposed activities.

In fact you could even do all 3 at once! (I did with the wife a few months ago, it was great).
