Money — And Another Big Fat Ring — On The Line For Shaq Barrett

February 1st, 2021

Lots at stake in Super Bowl LV.

Joe could just feel the nausea coming from the heartburn sizzling inside oily Drew Rosenhaus.

NFL sack king Shaq Barrett is one of Rosenhaus’ prized clients. Shaq was just an average player until he blew up to lead the NFL in sacks last season with 19.5, setting a Bucs franchise record.

This year Shaq seemed on his way, following a slow start, to hitting double-digits again. That was until he went the final two regular season games and first two playoff games as sackless as Kyle Moore.

What happened?

All of a sudden it seemed Shaq’s security with the Bucs — he’s a pending free agent — was in peril.

But then, in the NFC Championship game (partially thanks to Vita Vea returning to the lineup), Shaq went wild on the Packers and put Aaron Rodgers on the ground three times (nearly a fourth).

Shaq was back in business.

So now here we are six days from the Super Bowl. If Shaq has a big game and the Bucs win (that always helps), Shaq is looking at a monster payday (unless Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht slaps him with the franchise tag again).

Both Chiefs starting offensive tackles likely will be out for Super Bowl LV. And if Vea can handle 33 snaps against the Packers, with two week’s rest he should handle 40-50.

Joe has a hunch, with all that is on the line for Shaq and facing a backup tackle, Shaq will feast in six days.

Hopefully heā€™s been taking lessons from Scotty Miller this week. Running down Mahomes outside the tackles means a very bad Sunday Night for the Chiefs.

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Unfortunately, I think it will be very difficult to pay both Shaq & Godwin big money…..not impossible, but difficult.

My suspicion is that we will do everything possible to keep the offense together….meaning signing or franchising Godwin.

Those looking at our cap numbers for next year need to realize that they are without considering all of our FAs yet to sign.

Godwin, Gronk, Succop, Suh, Shaq, LVD…….and you can forget about AB & Fournette….

Sac-King Barrett, May he have another huge day for the Bucs in aSuper Bowl 55 win. GO BUCS!!!!

  4. Mitch Says:

It all depends if the NFL secures new television contracts in the next few weeks. If they do the cap doesnā€™t drop much if at all. If they donā€™t the cap will drop and it complicates things.

Iā€™d like to see Godwin, Shaq, LVD, &.Succop back. Gronk and AB are close with Tom so I think they might sign under their market value (especially Gronk).

Fournette will go to a different team, and Suh is going to retire. He has had an amazing career and all the money he needs for many life times. His wife expecting their first two children (twins) in March and I could just see him retiring to enjoy his family!

    33-17 Chiefs šŸ’šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø Tyrek snaps again 11 catches 201 yards 2tds Travis 6 catches 80 yards. Mahomes 3tds

  6. Beeej Says:

By all means, there’s SO much about the Bucs to be angry about

  7. Jeff Says:

There is a path to victory here and thatā€™s Vea the D Line. See what I did there with ā€œVea?ā€ Not only are they missing their starting tackles the backups are journeymen and 7th round draft picks. Mahomes will be running for his life. Need a mix of 2 deep and man coverages and let the D hunt.

  8. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

FedupBucs fan sounds like an ugly chiefs fan stuck in a blizard in the middle of kc mizzery and wishing he was living in sunny tampa. Shaq might end up in Jville but not sure he will get the same results but a bigger pay check

  9. Mitch Says:

I am pretty positive that fedupbucsfan is Ndog or at the least closely related. For those of you who donā€™t know Ndog is really bitter and still upset the Bucs let Jamies Winston go to the Saints. He would have preferred if we didnā€™t sign Brady.

His predictions have been wrong all year so itā€™s actually in Tampaā€™s favor that he is predicting a Chiefs win.

Lastly, I recommend just ignoring him. He doesnā€™t contribute anything to the conversation. Just a frustrated man who canā€™t admit he was wrong.

  10. John Sinclear Says:

Mitch – Just a thought, but if Suh’s wife is going to deliver twins, he might well decide to play another year, to get out of the house!

    Nah. He has posted before
Fedupbucfan is one of the jameis messiah cult followers
They are not having a good year.
So they post under new names
    Basically trolls

  12. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

Bird rock n roll; the thing with these dummies is that al REAL bucs fans wanted jamies to succed because we want the bucs to win but he sucked while he was here in terms of turning the ball over and he is gone. Similar to Trent Dilfer sucking here. The page is turned and the bucs are back in the super bowl and these nimwits are crying in their crableg stew

  13. SeƱor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

I would take Shaq over Godwin. The Bucs have a lot of depth at WR. Of course I would like both being the little piggy I am, but if its one or the other, then…

However, it will come down to what TB wants, for sure.

  14. SlyPirate Says:

I agree with Senor Harry. I wouldn’t sacrifice defense for Godwin. We have a lot of WR talent. FA will want to join to play with TB, and this year’s draft is deep at WR.

  15. Beeej Says:

Godwin is a very rare 24 year old commodity, can’t let him go under any circumstances. Most of Evan’s career is already behind him, AB only has a year or two left.. You get the picture

  16. Mitch Says:

Hey John! That was a fair counter haha. It looks like you actually may be right! Suh said he wants to play in Tampa the 2021 season!

  17. gp Says:

    @Duthsty, Bird, and Mitch
Been seeing fedup’s posts and also bradyisacheeter’s posts and I think bch is actually ndog whereas fedup is probably our favorite sheep molester minus the !!!!!!!!!!
