Worthy

Cool honor.

When you think of the Bucs offense, a lot of names come to mind.

Of course there’s park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking Bucs quarterback Tom Brady, foot-rubbing, car-littering tight end Rob Gronkowski, Mike Evans, furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing Antonio Brown and Chris Godwin.

But when a follicly-challenged stathead thinks of Bucs stars, he thinks of someone quite different.

Billy Barnwell of BSPN decided to have his very own All-Pro list. And when picking his offense, he had only one Bucs player. And it was none of the Tampa Bay skill position players.

It was right tackle Tristan Wirfs.

We knew this was supposed to be a 2020 draft with excellent offensive tackles at the top of the class, but Wirfs has been absolutely essential for the Buccaneers. The only rookie on this list, he has played every single snap for the Bucs while allowing just one charted sack, according to Stats LLC.

Tom Brady ranks sixth in Total QBR when he’s not pressures and 29th when he’s flustered. Wirfs locking down the right side of the line has helped Brady look like his old self in his new digs.

Think about that for a moment: On Barnwell’s personal All-Pro team, he only had one rookie. And it wasn’t Justin Jefferson or Justin Herbert. It was Wirfs.

This just reinforces Joe’s firmly held belief that you do not fix something that is not broken. And with Wirfs at right tackle, there’s nothing broken. Leave this man be.

All the years Dirk kept experimenting with Ali Marpet and other offensive linemen, Ali could be all-pro if he wasn’t the lab rat for Dirk

Each passing day I think more and more that Dirk Koetter was such a bad pick to be head coach and to help develop a quarterback.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

With all the monikers…..why not “pool jumping” for Tristan Wirfs?

Or does Joe reserve monikers for FA Bucs….for the exception of “America’s QB”

2nd best draft pick in the licht tenure

  7. ModHairKen Says:

Exactly. Just because you can play RT does not mean you can play LT.

  8. Leighroy Says:

Agree Joe. Jack Conklin was all-pro at RT his rookie year 2016 w the Titans, and he hasn’t moved to the left side even after signing with the browns before this year. When dudes are studs at what they do, you don’t reinvent the wheel!

  9. 2021 Year of the GOAT Says:

Its been magical…. tom looks great and some how ,compared to last year we even can run to the right side and get holes opened …. Wirf plays like a vet

  10. Nick2 Says:

I agree but think we will probably draft another tackle to replace Smith because with the decreased salary cap we cannot afford him.

  11. Buc50 Says:

Only Buc to play every snap too.

  12. Youngbucs Says:

Wiscojoe stop trying to blame dirk I feel sorry dirk. He wasn’t able to play the QB that he wanted to play couldn’t go out on his own terms what a shame.

  13. WiscoJoe Says:

Youngbucs- who does he have a track record of developing? Oh well, at least he brought in a QB coach who had a great history of developing QB’s and helped Jameis out with a great run game… oh wait.

  14. SlyPirate Says:

In the history of JoeBucsfan.com, when have we ever raved about an OL player practically every week for an entire season?

    That’s how good Wirfs is.

  15. ocala Says:

    Agree keep him at RT

  16. 813bucboi Says:

wirfs has played beyond great…keep him at RT…

im interested to see how the oline and secondary play….it’ll be their 1st playoff game…will they play tight?…will they play fast and “laser” focused?…

im excited and nervous at the same time…lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!!

And do not forget we don’t have a QB of the future
    Yet

  18. cmurda Says:

Oh yeah Wirfs doesn’t go anywhere. He is dominating RT. Marpet shoul never have been moved from RG but he’s also so good that he’s ddominating at LG too. Those are 2 huge pieces of youth on our line. The day may come for Donovan to be replaced but he’s been pretty good. He has infuriating moments of complacency. You just don’t see that from Wirfs and Marpet. I can’t wait for that Wirfs jersey to get here.

  19. bojim Says:

He’s worthy. Agreed Joe. Leave him where he’s at.

    Wiscoejoe

Who are you? Dont hide with new poster name ? You are member of The messiah cult …but which one

Here is this run game you are talking about that didnt help jameis?
    Rushing yards per year :

2018 dirk as coach and jameis qb – 1523 yards
2019 arians coach. And jameis qb- 1521 yards
2020 arians coach and brady 🐐 qb- 1519 yards

I thought typo at first but its a matter of a few yards. So your theory is absolutely wrong just like the other excuses jameis given
Hint – jameis was probably the problem 😂
I mean 35 turnovers last year with lost fumbles and ints

  21. BradyBucs Says:

The Winston Apologists have LOST the argument once and for all, Bird.

They claimed all QBs, even those elite ones, all suffered in their first year under Arians with huge INT numbers. That there was no way it was Jameis’ fault, even though Winston had been turning it over his entire NFL career and has had the problem at FSU.

Tom Brady emphatically put the nail in that coffin. Winston is NOT elite. He’s a flawed QB that remains inconsistent, struggles at times with accuracy, has apparent trouble reading Defenses, and clearly holds the ball too long.

So many of the Winston Apologists claimed the Bucs were idiots for not betting the farm on Winston and keeping him. Then the entire league spoke when no one signed him. He ends up in a 3rd string role for a peanuts salary. Proving the league didn’t think much of his skills either.

Then a 43 year old QB comes in proves how it’s done.

Argument is over. Not resigning Winston was a very smart football decision.

  22. stpetebucsfan Says:

I share the sentiment of leaving Wirf’s where he is. Are you willing to pay him LT money at RT because ultimately that will be a large part of keeping him where he is.

I love Wirfs but I LOVE this entire OL…yeah even Donavan. When they’re on they are the true force that drives the Bucs. Brady is playing great almost solely because of his terrific OL.

Brady can work with different targets and just a decent run game but Brady MUST have time and protection to be truly successful. Hat’s off to our OL. Brady will get the glory at QB and that’s OK he deserves…but perhaps the biggest contributor to his success has been the play of our OL.

@tampabaybucfan please don’t encourage Joe with the monikers, they’re f-ing annoying enough already. I get it joe, it makes your blog posts seem longer, but plz.!

  24. danr Says:

before the time the man’s next contract rolls around he may demand to have been given a shot at left tackle,

    More money that way.

Dirk, a nice guy, an ok football coach, with no HC abilities/skills whatsoever…
One of unexperienced GM mistakes, that JL have done here….is a learning prosses for him too. I hope he is up to the task from now on…

  26. Priscilla Prenner Says:

    @Tampabaybucfan
About the monikers, Joe reserves them for guys he doesn’t like. Note, the adjectives are never complimentary. Brady, Gronk and AB are guys he’s forced to write nice things about but the monikers allow him to internally save face. This is beyond ridiculous and not sure why you continue to read when you’re so negative about the website. Joe had monikers/adjectives for Dirk Koetter, Aqib Talib and others. Joe got along great with both those guys. And Joe likes Brady and Gronk very much.–Joe
Original Bucs like Evans and Godwin don’t get the monikers because Joe respects them.

Tristan don’t help NOBODY up in the playoffs only your team mates. Your a nice guy I get it. Just walk to the huddle or back to the line of scrimmage. It’s sudden death. We wanna beat them down to the ground and let them get up broken. Wirfs every pennies.

  28. $acbuc$ Says:

I forgot to say it’s gonna be cold big guy so mustard up some of that cold weather game you got in your blood from Iowa. Your awesome we need you big time champ.
