“Perfect” Tristan Wirfs

January 20th, 2021

Bucs RT Tristan Wirfs.

There is just no way anyone with the Bucs thought rookie right tackle Tristan Wirfs would be this good this soon. If they did, the Bucs would have traded up to take him as the first lineman in the draft.

Joe thinks it is fair to say no one has seen a right tackle play this well for the Bucs in the team’s 44-year history.

And the dude is a rookie!

Wirfs was one vote short of making the second team All-Pro team. He finished third in the voting, one shy of Ryan Ramczyk of the slimy Saints.

In the video below, former NFL offensive lineman and current NFL Network talking head Brian Baldinger breaks down film and gushes over the job Wirfs did on mouthy Cam Jordan on Sunday.

“I don’t think the Bucs are going to the NFC Championship game without Tristan Wirfs,” Baldinger said. As he showed a clip of Wirfs totally locking up Jordan, Baldinger breathlessly said, “This is just a thing of beauty.”

Baldinger added that Wirfs’ hand technique and foot-placement is “perfect.”

Oh, and see if you catch the very short clip of Donovan Smith hustling his arse off in the video?

Just think, Bucs fans, Wirfs will be dominating for the next 10 years, maybe longer.

“You could put a refrigerator on his back and he’d take it up thirteen flights of stairs” 😂😂 I love Brian Baldinger

Love Wirfs … but kinda getting fatigued with the TW love. It’s like one too many bro hugs or smiling too long and your cheeks hurt.

I’m stoked about the unsung heroes who could be future stars … Scotty Miller and Tyler Johnson. These two could be deadly. We’re not concerned about Godwin’s disappearance or AB’s injury because of the WR depth.

    Beautiful!!!!

You know Tristen Wirfs is great when he goes largely unnoticed by casual fans throughout the year. Thats what you want from your Olinemen.

How many times did we complain about Demar Dotson last year? Many times.

The Bucs Oline overall has played about as good as any in the last 5 weeks or so.

  5. Godlovesbucs Says:

Slyy- i will never be fatigued with the tw love. Dude is the best lineman we have, and an elite lineman in the league. As a rookie.

  6. August 1976 Buc Says:

Always good to hear Baldys analysis, he just loves football. When he is highlighting you like he does Tristan here and Ryan feeding astro turf to the saints, you know you are kickin some arse!. GO BUCS!!!!!

i heard the hall sent him a gold jacket in a box with a note that said:

“don’t open this for 15 years”

    🙂

joe we need saying and slogans for greatness:

when tristan shuts a dude down he “got wirfed”

    here’s an example:

“hey little johnny did you see the bucs game?”

“yeah big mike, great game man…bucs whooped some azz and that dude cam jordan got wirfed”

    #GotWirfed

  10. All lives matter Says:

I think Wirfs presence has made Smith better. The thought of Wirfs wrestling away the LT position has incentified Smith to do better. Competition is good.

  11. Leighroy Says:

Goldlovesbucs, amen. Others would do well to recall such mediocrity as the OG penalty machines Jeremy Trueblood and Kenyatta Walker, before the “upgrade” to Dotson.

You could say we’ve gone from Nokia’s, to the Razr, to the iPhone 12 at RT

  12. Tackleblockwin Says:

“Just appreciate this rookie”. Here in Tampa, believe me Mr Baldinger, we do!

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Many thought that moving up 1 slot giving up a 4th round pick to get Wirfs was a waste…….I think it’s highly possible….likely that other teams wanted to trade up also with SF to get Wirfs……Licht was not taking that chance. Thank goodness,

  14. Easy Says:

Brian Baldinger is by far the best film breakdown expert ive ever listened to. Most people only appreciate the fantasy side of things but he is top notch at what he does.

  15. Hodad Says:

For all of you who think we should move Wirfs to the left side, think again. The Saints best pass rusher was lined up on our RT. You see the D lineman don’t stay in one place during the game, so why move Wirfs? The kid might be in the next 9 pro bowls as a RT, don’t screw that up by moving him. Had Marpet stayed at RG instead of moving to center, than LG he’d have been a pro bowl RG by now. If it ain’t broke, don’t try, and fix it. Besides Smith ain’t going nowhere. He’s a bargain at the price for next year as a LT. He’s been balling, check yo sheet.

  16. orlbucfan Says:

If Davin Joseph played on an offense this good, I wonder how far he would have gone?

  17. 813bucboi Says:

    great job developing wirfs goodwin!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  18. Bucamania Says:

Agreed on the Goodwin love. Wirfs’ technique has greatly improved, especially his footwork. His talent is undeniable.

  19. IrishMist Says:

I think Wirfs is getting into Jordan’s head.

  20. IowaTampa Says:

Does that technique and footwork look familiar? Wirfs was state champion highschool wrestler at heavyweight. In Iowa, that’s no smaii feat.

PDQ is a chicken joint, “people dedicated to quality” in the NFL PDQ is the Tampa Bay Bucaneers ! GO BUCS “Winning is everything”
