“Hero”

December 21st, 2020

Much love for Bucs defender.

In the eyes of “Good Morning Football” co-host and friend of JoeBucsFan.com Peter Schrager, the Bucs may not have recorded a win yesterday in Atlanta without the play of a certain defender.

Yes, Tom Brady was great and so too were his receivers as the Bucs roared back in the second half to pull within the width of a football from a postseason berth.

And that man is Bucs inside linebacker Devin White, who Schrager called a “hero.”

White had just a monster game yesterday and his three sacks in the fourth quarter came at the perfect time. In Joe’s eyes, White had his best game as a pro.

“As much as we talk about Brady and the offense and all the stars that they have, the best player they had on the field was No. 45 when it mattered most,” Schrager said.

At least defensively, it’s hard to argue that point. As Schrager said, the Dixie Chicks were moving the ball.

For example, on the play after Antoine Winfield made a sick stop disrupting a pass intended for Calvin Ridley, one that came “this close” to being a touchdown, White sacked Matty Ice forcing Atlanta to kick a field goal. It would be Atlanta’s final points of the game.

Sure would be nice in January on the road if White continues to play like a man possessed the way he did yesterday.

You can see Schrager’s full take in the NFL Network video below.

“best individual defensive performance” that’s it. And that is the problem…..you can’t be depended in one player…our D is bad coached. We are paying every week the price of it. With the players we have, we should not allow more then 17-19 points per game.
…. but instead we hope TB12 is going to save us…..which BTW he did it again yesterday.

    BA = Lovie S 2.0

[That’s not very nice — Joe] …but man that dude is fast, hungry and can blitz the QB better than I’ve ever seen a linebacker do… They should never drop him into coverage tho because he’s horrible at that!! Too much thinking for him!! Just need to say “Devin see QB, Devin hurt QB, Devin win game for team, Devin happy!” …. Devin, is going to have more money than you ever dreamed of [Joe has zero clue what any of the following has to do with White’s spectacular play yesterday. Joe is sure you can find other websites to spew non-football conspiracy theories on. — Joe]

Defense play like foo foo for three quarters we are not going to make it far in the post season

The young stars who this franchise think will be the future cannot shrink and disappear in the playoffs especially the secondary. Main reason is how many more draft picks is Licht going to devote to corner and secondary? It’s time for Hugh draft picks in the trenches.

Thanks Joe for your comments to sorry Jack. I just commented in an earlier post about his complete non sequitur of a contribution. Glad you noted it here.

    He wasn’t a hero….he was a “savior”…..or perhaps both….

Noticed he is no longer described as “savior”…..perhaps because it was cynical. And yesterday it became true.

The beauty of this is that White had his huge game when JPP disappeared…a total rarity. LVD had a good not awesome game. Shaq played well.

Bottom llne is imagine what happens if JPP, White, Shaq, Winfield, LVD all have great games at the same time.

  9. PSL Bob Says:

He played ferocious throughout the game, but seems as far as rushing the QB, they tend to keep him on a leash until the 4th quarter. Why not start out early in the game with this kind of pass rush? Unleash the Beast! Let him ride his black Stallion right over the QB.

The play that may have saved the season is by Winfield Jr. in not White. White played well, but that was kid is our new Ronde. That’s a huge, clutch play on an open receiver in the end zone… from a rookie safety.

For some reason we are blaming the defense yesterday on Bowles, seriously, it’s unfortunate D. White needed to blitz at all because our defensive linemen were not winning one on one battles against a good offensive line but not a great one. The same good one that other teams have got to all year, win some battles early and there is no need for heroics

  12. unbelievable Says:

Well you’ve gotta blitz when your front-4 are incapable of getting any pressure themselves.

Shaq and JPP were 7-8 yards BEHIND Matt Ryan all game long…

  13. DT Says:

Do you know who the hero of this team is?

The player that does his job EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK.

Who is a Top 5 player for his position & is the position the Bucs have had a horror show at for a decade?

Nope, not Tom Brady, but Ryan Succop.

25/27 FGs, always hits the ones that matter, don’t even have to hold my breath when he kicks.

Where’s the love for our kicker Joes?

    “…..Ryan Succop”

100% agreed ……. we forgot how terrible we were years …. on that position
glad u mention his name, well deserved……

One of the reasons defense was throttled in the first half is cos of the dumb plays by Methusaleh. If it wasn’t a RB or Gronkowski, Brady wouldn’t throw even tho there were wide open targets. Defense was like are you kidding me? I sure hope both BA and TB suffer major brain farts in the first half Sat. They will finally use the whole offense to score.
