Reasons For Hope

November 29th, 2020

Joe isn’t big on hope.

Joe considers “hope” to be a vile four-letter word. Bobby Knight once said it is the worst word in the English language.

However, in an effort to try to see the Big Storm Brewing stein half-full, Joe is offering Bucs fans hope for a win today against the defending Super Bowl-champion Chiefs.

Reading a piece this morning from Sam McDowell of the Kansas City Star, the Chiefs’ defense has suddenly turned soft, allowing Teddy Bridgewater and Derek Carr to rack up yards and points the past two weeks.

Here are talking points for how the Bucs may attack the Chiefs’ defense:

* The Chiefs have allowed 31 points in back-to-back games to Carolina and Las Vegas.

* Outside of the Big Two (Chris Jones and Frank Clark), the Chiefs don’t get sacks. Where have you heard that before?

* The Chiefs, at least against the Raiders, don’t tackle. The Chiefs missed 12 tackles last Sunday. This can be problematic for a defense, right Lovie?

* The Chiefs have allowed 606 passing yards in two games.

The key in Joe’s eyes is if Donovan Smith and Ali Marpet can start for the Bucs. We will know for sure when the inactive list is released 90 minutes before kickoff.

If both Smith and Marpet cannot go, it might be a long, long evening at the Den of Depression.

If your hopes depend on a backup div 2 guard and a lazy arse DT who gets beat weekly, a sae person would suggest you truly have no hope at all.

  2. Porkpie Says:

lol @ Tmax Go back to the Saints forum. We didn’t miss you. If your only hope depends on an option QB or JW who throws picks weekly a “sane” person would suggest you have no hope at all. You definitely seem like the type of dude that likes to watch strangers rail his girl.

  3. JimmyJack Says:

Well we need Tom Brady to have a good game. Thats the first thing. That crap he played last week arent gonna cut it……And dide if you get the ball in your hands with a chance to win you need to freaking deliver…..Yeah, some of us are keeping track and you have faiked each and every time you had a chance for a game winning drive. Very unimpressed with Brady so far.

Im not even worried about defense. Just do what you do. Create turnovers. Thats how you gonna beat this team. Sure they will likely rack up yards reguardless. But flip a few drives in our favor and give the offense the chance to win it.

  4. JimmyJack Says:

    GO BUCS!!!

  5. Dewey Selmon Says:

And Brady has yet to lose back to back games as a Buccaneer.

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

A Buc fan without hope is………….well, hopeless.

  7. MtBucsfan Says:

I honestly think the Bucs match up well against KC. I see this as a good game for us today. Honestly feel at least a 10 win.

  8. Marine Buc Says:

Hope in one hand and poo in the other and see which one fills up first…

    Lol!!!

    Go Bucs!

  9. John Sinclear Says:

Are we getting our $30 million worth yet ???

  10. Pewter Power Says:

Yea ok get your excuses ready now. We gonna blame the o line this week? Brady or are we gonna say AB taking snaps away from Scotty Miller lol. Leftwich will be instrumental in making this offense pedestrian once again. He will abandon the run in the first quarter and make us one dimensional and this will be over before halftime. That’s my take because I’m every lost leftovers is the one i blame. Not 2 or 3 missed deep balls a game out of 45-50 throws

  11. catcard202 Says:

Bucs are a likely Play-off team…Have received a ton on MSM pub & National / International TV exposure… So, Yeah…The Glazers are getting their money’s worth.

(But that does not mean the TB12 signing was a good FB move. He’s still a rapidly declining product.)

  12. tmaxcon Says:

Note to low standard bucfan making the playoffs during a season that the nfl is basically letting every team in is nothing to Bragg about. Raise your standards it’s pathetic to celebrate a playoff birth when you know you are not a contender. With the moves made anything other than a super bowl win is total failure…

Draft talk is all that is relevant now….

  13. Anonymous Says:

Yeah im sure THIS GAME chiefs will put a lid on it right?

  14. tmaxcon Says:

Maybe if you guys are lucky mahomes can put up 40 really quick and lvd can bring back down by 40 dancing in honor of his mentor captain blowout bad character ms mccoy.

  15. Anonymous Says:

Yeah im sure THIS GAME chiefs will put a lid on it right? Cause now were banking on hope. If thats the case you can forget it.hope and bucs are opposites and they dont attract!

  16. Craig Says:

Every team, except the Steelers, maybe, have flaws this season. The Chiefs have had some mistakes that wouldn’t normally happen to a team that has a few years together.

If the defense plays well and Brady has a clean jersey after the first half, the Bucs might be able to pull off a game like the one against Green Bay.

It might help that Dean is out, he lets the receiver make the choice of his route and tries to catch up. DBs need to dictate, not follow.

  17. bojim Says:

I don’t look forward to Mahomes running and passing today.

  18. JimmyJack Says:

The teams that can start peaking after Thanksgiving are typically the ones that go on playoff runs.

  19. Cobraboy Says:

I’m less concerned about the Buc O than I am about whether the Buc D can even slow down the Chefs offense.

  20. SB : Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

So hilarious to see the ‘A HOLES’ come back at the first side of struggling. Even though their man crush never got us to 7 and 4 and is currently one of the top ‘Surface’ holders in the league.

  21. ModHairKen Says:

    Bucs win.

  22. Armando Says:

If only we had a mute button on here. Lord the amount of morons that would get it starting with the Winston delusional fanboy.

  23. Tampabuscsbro Says:

OH BOY BOOMER TMAX IS BACK

what will he talk about now. How angry he is at black people not named jameis winston.

  24. Buc1987 Says:

Tmax…after sucking for the past decade.

YES a playoff berth is good enough for me and most Bucs fans.

    Go Bucs!!!

  25. Buc1987 Says:

    Cobra…I’m scared for the secondary.

  26. Alimp Says:

Ali cleared the protocol. Great news.

  27. Darin Says:

Reason for hope? Anyone besides me expect them to go undefeated? Cmon they’re in postion for a playoff spot with a home game coming up. Joe’s letting maxiepad and smittys strap sniffer bring him down. Ugh. Every game’s different. Last week means nothing now. Park the car walk in the stadium and let it out boys

  28. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Cobra

I share your concerns but what gives me “hope” is the pair of talented LB in White and LVD. If they BOTH play lights out they have the speed to close on those runners and Mahomes in space. Of course OTOH Mahomes and Hill have burnt most competitors once they get in space.

I hope we see a lot more gang tackling than we did against the Rams. It seemed to me that we not only missed tackles…other players did not hustle enough to provide support.

  29. Casual Observer Says:

Hope. I hope the coaches are smarter today. Better (and adjustable) schemes.

  30. orlbucfan Says:

Hey Joes: Jordan Whitehead had a decent game. Why isn’t he mentioned anymore?

  31. Cobraboy Says:

@spbf: White is a liability in coverage. Speed does not always kill (I give you WR Grayson.) Speed can overrun.

  32. Cobraboy Says:

I’ll tell you who *doesn’t* have hope:

    The Broncos.

All 3 QB’s testes +, and a WR pulled off the PC gets the QB start. What happens if he goes down?

  33. Bucsfanman Says:

I call “bullspit” on all of this talk!
The Bucs are good enough to beat KC. That’s a FACT. We know what it’s going to take. Go out there and do it. Lets put our name on the map again.

Cobra- That’s some crazy ‘ish with the broncos. Isn’t it interesting that they moved the Pittsburgh vs. Baltimore game TWICE so that Lamar could play but won’t do the same with the Broncos?!
    Follow the money…

  34. Anonymous Says:

All the hoping and wishing stops at 4:25pm, that is when we fight, that is when the Chiefs die! We dig deep down inside and come away with a win that catapults us into the play off picture and we don’t look back! GO Bucs it’s time to to shine WAX ON WAX OFF …it’s a new day!!

  35. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

The 2 overthrown passes out of the 50 thrown were the most important because they led to 14 points, and we lost by 3 so they make a huge difference.

A Buc fan w/o hope is……a Buc fan

Who cares that the NFL is allowing “every team” to make the playoffs??? Hyperbole much??? If they get to 10-6 then they’re in that is what matters and even with his “problems” Brady is the biggest reason we are where we are.

We have 5 very winnable games left. We win 3 were 10-6 plain and simple. As good as they haven’t been Atlanta’s defense is not better than our offense and their offense is not better than our defense. The Lions were blanked by Carolina nuff said. Vikes we stop Darvin our chances skyrocket. Against the Chiefs we’re going to have to score 56 because they most undoubtedly will score 49 today because they will have 35 at the half before Bowels makes any adjustments and our defense realizes there’s 2 halves to a game. Plus they have one of the best returners in the game and our ST can’t cover their mouths with both hands!

  36. Roy T. Buford Says:

As of 9 minutes ago, it’s reported by Marpet and Smith are active for today….

    Could it be?????? YES!!!!!!!!!!!
