Ready If Needed

November 1st, 2020

Prepared to make a move.

With the trade deadline on Tuesday afternoon, it is not out of the question the Bucs may make a move (or two), but it doesn’t sound like the Bucs want to.

Yesterday, Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians was asked about the team maybe adding to its already strong roster to make a January run.

Arians seems to think that Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht has his guns loaded. Whether he pulls the trigger on a move seems predicted on whether the Bucs suffer an ugly injury tomorrow night against the Giants.

“You never know,” Arians said of a potential move. “We don’t know what this ballgame is going to bring yet. Jason [Licht’s] got some things on the table if we need them, but I wouldn’t say we’ll probably be really active.”

It feels like fans may not want the Bucs to make a move. Why is that? If you read between the lines, it smells as if Licht and Arians are quite content with the current roster.

Joe would still love for the Bucs to get a guy who can make quarterbacks eat dirt, even if he’s only a designated pass rusher off the bench.

Can never have to many pass rushers. Also who do we have to back up LVD or white ?

    Eat dirt, win NFC later

    Minter.

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Let’s trade for a WR

  5. Tampabuscsbro Says:

We need to get a depth CB, as much as the position of Pass Rusher is complained about around here we have no outside corners that could hope to fill in that position that is balling.

TRADE FOR A CORNER. The pass rush right now is coming from everyone not just our edges. Also Nelson can take over to a reasonable level if needed. I can’t say the same at outside corner.

  6. Clean House Says:

If we’ve learned anything is that these two constantly bluff and lie to the public. I would not be surprised at all if we did something else attention grabbing.

  7. ItzOK Says:

Trade for Jameis. My only fear is COVID gets Brady and we need a capable back up for two games. Gabbert / Griffin aint it.

  8. SB Says:

You guys see where this is headed don’t you?

  9. Stanglassman Says:

Maybe we can trade with the 49ers for a CB. I hear they got this real up in comer named Motley.

  10. Buczilla Says:

I’m good with getting another edge rusher or two. Most of the guys on our defense have never been to the playoffs and I doubt that we’ll be facing anything but good quarterbacks if we make it.

  11. Defense Rules Says:

Agree totally on grabbing another quality pass rusher if at all possible. Defense is our bread & butter, and it all starts in the trenches. We’re really very thin at DE/OLB right now, but we’re making it work because both Shaq & JPP stay on the field so much.

Nelson’s coming along for a 2nd year OLB, but he’s not a difference-maker like Shaq & JPP are. He’s played in all 7 games (so his availability is good), but he’s only got a total of 7 solo tackles (plus 2 assists), 0 sacks, 2 QB Hits & 1 TFL. Of course he’s only been on the field for 100 total defensive snaps … 14 snaps/game average. Our only other OLB, Cam Gill, has a grand total of 6 defensive snaps & 2 tackles. At 6’3″ & 240 lbs, he probably could use a little more beef?

That’s all we’ve got. If JPP or Shaq went down for any period of time, we’d be hurting. At the same time however, quality pass rushers are hard to come by. Unless someone’s having a fire sale, it’ll be slim pickins out there.

All coaches and GMs “lie” and bluff regarding team moves. Stop trying to make out like the Bucs are the only ones. It’s part of the game.

  13. Radsy Says:

    Stanglassman,

Motley was released by the 9ers.

  14. ModHairKen Says:

Hey, they got Antonio Brown. Let’s trade for Richie Incognito, Leveon Bell, and bring back Desean Jackson and Chris Barker. How about Kaepernick? Let’s just find every misfit of science and personality disorder we can acquire.

  15. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

And what decent pass rusher is out there right now? Someone from the ViQueens?

  16. Joe in Michigan Says:

Clean House: It’s funny that you would call Arians and Licht liars…How many false and ridiculously misinformed statements have you made on here?

  17. Youngbucs Says:

    I count 2 idiotic comments.

  18. orlbucfan Says:

Kaepernick is neither a misfit nor suffers from a personality disorder. Certain yahoos dislike his political beliefs. Sure wish Bucs had him instead of Gabbert who stinks up the multiverse! 😡

  19. Allbuccedup Says:

Looks like Licht has that look maybe I will trade for another kicker.

  20. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

If there’s anything they really need it’s a quality backup on the oline!! One of those guys goes down and we’re in serious trouble!! That and corner!! They need a quality corner who could come in and be serviceable!! They have plenty of safety position but true corners they don’t have many!! And with Dean injury history could be a valuable pick up!!

  21. Joe in Michigan Says:

orlbucfan: A few tidbits on Kaepernick…One website claims that Kaepernick didn’t put the time and effort that’s needed to be an NFL QB (film study, etc.). I can neither confirm or deny this, since I wasn’t there. It is a fact, though, that Kaepernick got benched in favor of Gabbert at one point in San Francisco.

  22. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

I guess jpp 5.5 sacks and white 4 isn’t enough for Joe… Who thinks once you sack a QB the game is over!!! If the corners aren’t holding their man long enough I don’t care who you have you’re not going to get many sacks!! This team has 2 really good edge rushers and linebackers that can get there!! … They could use some back up there but don’t need to go spend the last of their cap on some dude just cause he can get a few sacks!! The constant pressure these guys create is why the bucs are second in the league in interceptions!!!

  23. Bucsfan77 Says:

Kaepernick can suck a big fat one, as a vet I will never root for someone who disrespects my flag and country.

Troll. You know nothing and have exposed yourself. Gabbert was the 49ers starter OVER Kaepernick. Colin’s numerous misteps as a football player are the reason he isn’t on a roster. Went vegan and lost 30 lbs before his last season. Didn’t show up for rehab on his injuries and wasn’t healthy. Refused to show up to meet new Coach Chip Kelly who ran a system tailor made for CK. The dude never protested, he sulked on the bench because he couldn’t force his way out of San Fran. It wasn’t a protest until he was convinced it was. His narrative is fake and those that believe his BS story are easily fooled sheep. I don’t even care about his protest. Never did. I care that everything I said is 100% true but the media reported differently and stupid people chose to believe the false narrative.

  27. ©MadMax Says:

Riley Reiff….if we can afford him.

Keep that O line in check and ready if theres an injury for this serious Superbowl push!

  28. Steve Gaudreau Says:

Isn’t Josh Rosen sitting around on your practice squad? I’m hearing that the Patriots are looking to trade Gilmore. That would be a good trade for the Bucs. Who do you give them though? They need help at the receivers position. Draft pics? Belichick needs to retool. Cam isn’t cutting it or just doesn’t have the talent around him (why Brady left!) to win. Either that he is just done as a QB. Stepping in to New England after the GOAT left has to be a bitch!

  29. Joe in Michigan Says:

Steve G: As much as I’d love for the Bucs to get Gilmore, the salary cap won’t allow that.

  30. BamaRich Says:

Steve G: I like your suggestion. My only fear is that Gilmore end up with the Saints.
