Prove It Game

November 6th, 2020

Not buying… yet.

Nick Wright is a non-believer, though he is beginning to waver.

The co-host of “First Things First,” seen and heard on FS1 weekday mornings, was a non-believer in both the Bucs and in park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting Tom Brady when the Bucs signed him.

Wright, like several, was suspicious that a 43-year old quarterback could turn around the Bucs. Brady has proven that and more.

Some of Wright’s colleagues believe the Bucs are a legit Super Bowl contender. Wright can’t go there yet. Not until he sees the Bucs beat the Saints.

Bucco Bruce Arians, in his Bucs days, is 0-3 against the long-time owners of the NFC South, the slimy Saints. Wright referred to the slimy Saints as “a better team” than the Bucs, who are tied with the Saints in first place in the division.

“Everyone thinks the Bucs are this super fun team that we are going to pretend that the Giants game didn’t happen and the Bears game didn’t happen and we are just going to look at their wins and Brady is feeling great and they are adding AB,” Wright said of the Bucs.

On Antonio Brown, Wright may be onto something. Are we to believe that a guy who hasn’t played football in roughly 14 months and with only four practices under his belt will light up the Saints? As much as Joe would love to see that, the reservations are valid.

But hold up on the Bears game! The Bears play damn good at home, even though they have no quarterback (Joe still gets the shivers recalling how Troy Aikman said Sunday the Bears miss Mitch Trubisky — have we sunk that low as a society?), the Bears have a strong defense.

Yeah, the Bucs lost a close game to the Bears and the Bucs played terribly sloppy. Didn’t the slimy Saints just play the Bears and need overtime to pull off a win? It’s not like the slimy Saints hammered the Bears like the Bucs did the Packers, c’mon on!

Let’s not pretend the slimy Saints are the Steelers or the Chiefs. Are they good? Heck yes. They are not unbeatable.

You can see Wright’s full take in the FS1 video below.

Wow. 6-2, beating the packers and the raiders in the fashion they did and he isnt sold??? Seems like he just cant admit it.

  2. SlyPirate Says:

He’s been down on the Bucs and Brady all year.

  3. Drunkinybor Says:

Im not buying his hairline. Seriously though where do these egg heads cone from. I have seen this guy blithering on a few times. Seemed to me another wannabe skip bayless type. Every week he says we will stink and Brady is going to have his senior status show. I mean hes going to be right eventually. After the Saints game it will be when the Bucs beat the Chiefs who are the best then Ill buy into these Bucs. He will have a million excuses fo a taints loss to us.

  4. LA BUCS Says:

Also he’s forgetting, that Giants game was COLD! (At least by Florida standards) Not our strong suit. Considering Detroit is in a dome, we probably dont run into too many more cold weather games in the regular season.

  5. August 1976 Buc Says:

St Nick and Mad Max are always playing the contrarian role for these sports talk shows, along with their added buffoonery. Going to be a fun Monday morning Football live here in the Philippines. GO BUCS!!!!

  6. Brad Says:

I’m not saying that I’m not a believer, but until we actually beat the Saints, they are the favorite in the division. Maybe that’s just the past 15 years in me speaking.

  7. Tackleblockwin Says:

Fun Fact: The year we won the SB we went 0-2 vs the Saints.

  8. adam from ny Says:

i’m not trying to be on some soothsayer sheet…

    but…

i’m totally ok with the bucs losing to the saints if they win the next three games thereafter…

looking at the schedule, we have been losing one, then winning 3…

then losing one again, and then winning 3 games…

if we stay on schedule, and lose to the saints, then knock off carolina, the rams, and then the chiefs…i’m good with that…going into the bye week…

    just sayin’…

and for any haters out there, yes i wanna whoops the saints azz

  9. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

The key will be our defense. They just gave up 100 yards rushing to no name backs on the Giants and the Aints have Kamara. We miss Vea. Plus they gave up 27 points to them last time.

  10. Defense Rules Says:

I have no problem with seeing this as a ‘prove-it game’. We are entering the 2nd half of the season (and yes, hallelujah sporting a 6-2 record), but this is THE SAINTS … our division nemesis. IF we lost (and we won’t), we’d be TWO games down to them against division opponents. That’s make it a lot more difficult for us to win the division, and to get home-field advantage in the playoffs. And possibly a 1st Round Bye, which traditionally is a huge advantage.

We’re playing at home, we’re fairly healthy, all-in-all we’ve been playing some pretty good ball … we’ve got the advantage. Champions win the games that they have to win, and this one we have to win. No excuses.

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Didn’t the Chargers come within a FG hitting the uprights from beating the Saints in New Orleans?……but yep, we need to beat them to be better than they are.

  12. Alanbucsfan Says:

Last year, the Bucs were beaten on line of scrimmage in 1st game to Saints and lost on turnovers the 2nd game.
This year, 1st game they lost 1st game because of turnovers.

The Bucs OLine and D is much better than last year. Play a clean game as far as turnovers and penalties go, Bucs have a good chance. Whether Marpet plays or not is a big factor

  13. FLBoyInDallas Says:

This game will show us where the Bucs REALLY are right now. It’s a barometer unlike any previous game this year. I’m eager to see how they stack up.

  14. Anonymous Says:

Kind of agree. The Giant exposed a huge hole in our defense. They killed us with the short slant routes and running up the gut. Our DBs gave too much of a cushion…..it almost looked like playing in the days of Mike Smith. Todd Bowles better come up with a better game plan against the Saints and they are going to be looking at the Giant’s game tapes.

  15. Buczilla Says:

This guy is only slightly below Kellerman on the irritability scale. I’d rather watch a full hour of men’s golf than either of these two clowns for an hour. You Joe’s are far more patient and tolerant than me and I don’t envy you. 😇

  16. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

Against the Giants, the Bucs were clearly looking ahead to this game against the Aint’s.

AB does what he is supposed to do – he takes most of the doubles off of ME. Lets remember, AB in his first and only game for the Pats had 4 catches for 56 yards. Lets keep our expectations real. On top of that, TB likes to spread it around; that is contributing to ME’s very low numbers. So, if anyone’s stats get bumped up, I expect it to be Mike’s.

Aint’s are a good team, not great. Bress is not playing to his highest level (shoulder?). Bucs WIN!

  17. Cobraboy Says:

I despise these talking head geniuses. WTF is this guy?

He says he can’t forget the Giants and Bears game, yet with the Saints he conveniently forgets that the Bucs beat the crap out of the two teams that beat the Saints, the Raiders and Packers.

That said, I DO agree that this game is THE game that will show what this team has. Win, and I’m a believer. Lose, and they are just another team in the hunt, nothing special. Yes, the Giants was a squeaker, but for the Saints, the Rams and Kitties were also squeakers.

Now win bigly, and they become elite.

  18. Cobraboy Says:

I WILL agree this Bucs team has been very inconsistent. That crap needs to stop if they want to “go deep.”

  19. Thisisouryear!! Says:

The bears game was sloppy but I think it was our turning point. Since that game the needless penalties have been gone. The team fell in line after that game. I think that game is the reason we played well against the packers and raiders and the reason we didn’t beat ourselves last week against the giants. Watching coach Brady yell at his line about the penalties during the game was respected and got results. I think Sunday will be a tough game but we will be ready. AB will be a welcome addition on the field with the injuries this year.

  20. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

The Saints are our 2010-2020 version of the early 2000s Filthydelphia Beagles.

To quote Ric Flair…To BE the man, you have to BEAT the man! Long live Tampa Sportatorium.

  21. TB12 In Da Bay Says:

This guy has a face only a prostitute could love

  22. Mike Says:

The Saints are the reigning NFC South Champs. If we want that title, we need to take them down. Plain and simple. Bucs are going to be fired up for this one.

  23. Rico 210 Says:

@Scotty… I remember the night that Sweet Brown Sugar had to unmask. Heartbreaking. Damn you brought back memories
    Go Bucs

  24. SOEbuc Says:

We came back from 11 penalties in Chicago to zero and got zero penalties and 38 unanswered points against GB. And it wasn’t pretty vs NYG, but it was a W so…They put these guys on here for the idiot ratings. Kinda like Trump and Twitter.

  25. Brandon Says:

We’ve played four good games and four not so good games. We’ve yet to prove we can beat the Saints and until we do, we’ve proven nothing. We NEED to beat these guys. If recent history has shown us anything, this team can turn it on when it really wants/needs to.

  26. Wesley Says:

    I kinda agree.

  27. Swampbuc Says:

Nick Wright is a used feminine hygiene product.

  28. Bucsalltheway Says:

Antonio bryant sat out 2yrs and was a dawg for the bay dont play joe lol

  29. orlbucfan Says:

Good one, Swampbuc!👍👍 Aints cheat. Bucs better be ready to play the refs as well as the cheats. Hope they remember who laid the cheap head shot that concussed the Ungodly One.

  30. geno711 Says:

Nick Wright called Michael Jordan a complete loser. Said he never won before Scotty Pippen. Said never won against Larry Bird in the playoffs. No hall of famers on any east team that Jordan won against in the east conference final after the Pistons series.

Nick Wright said Bo Jackson is completely widely over-rated.

Nick Wright said this season that Tom Brady still not good. He is Willie Mays stumbling around in the Mets outfield for the 1973 Mets. This season will not go well for Brady.

    I agree with Swampbuc.
