Key To Brady Balling Out

November 14th, 2020

Critical gatekeeper.

Look, Joe doesn’t think what CBS Sports HQ dug up on park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, jet-ski-losing Bucs quarterback Tom Brady is anything earth-shattering.

But still, the details are interesting.

No NFL quarterback is worse when he no time to throw.  YouKnowWho, however, was rated by Football Outsiders as the best passer in the NFL last year when flushed out of the pocket; no lie! Brady, however, is just downright lethal when he has time to survey a field. Check out what CBS Sports HQ dug up.

That, folks, is slicing up defenses and lighting up cornerbacks’ arses. Which brings Joe to Donovan Smith, the popular Bucs left tackle. He could be having his worst year in the NFL only because he has been so wildly inconsistent in 2020.

When Smith is good he’s damn good, and when he’s bad, well, let’s just say Gisele has likely thrown some object at him after a game and cussed him out in Portuguese.

If Joe was Stinking Panthers coach Matt Rhule, he’d have Brian Burns line up at right defensive end and pack the right side and make Smith prove he’s having a good game.

Joe thinks it is a safe bet that opponents the rest of the season are going to attack Smith regularly because it is a coin flip whether he’s having a dominant good game, or a game that may get Brady maimed.

And as we have seen when Brady doesn’t get time, this offense is neutered, no matter how many celebrities and all-stars the Bucs have in the passing game.

If Ali Marpet starts, it might be a good idea for Arians to use Joe Haeg in max-protect formation to make sure Smith has all the help he needs if he’s having an off day tomorrow.

This applies to all rhythm/timing QB’s. D. Smith has to get get his act together or we won’t be going far come playoff time. I’d like to think upper management is working on a plan B, if there is one the be had. Smith was hot garbage this past Sunday night. They should tie Gronk on to Donovan’s hip this weekend. Can’t afford to lose to the stinking Panthers. And get back to pounding the damn rock! Sunday can’t come soon enough….Go Bucs!

Can’t wait to replace his stupid lazy ass …

  3. JayWill Says:

Key to Brady balling out is Rojo getting at least 17 carries. Rojo plays better when he is left in. He gets into a rhythm then Brady and the oline play better because of it.

As I have posted many times Clean jersey for Tom = winning, Dirty jersey = 50/50 chance. Clean Jersey for Tom and a semblence of a Defeñse and they compete for a Super Bowl. Dirty Jersey = no Super Bowl because their Defense is not consistant enough to carry them. GO BUCS!!!! KEEP TOM ALIVE FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP DRIVE!!!

How many more excuses yall are going to give Brady ? Jamies had this same guy and yall never gave him this excuse . So keep the same energy with Brady !!! Superbowl or bust no excuses !!!

  6. Defense Rules Says:

Donovan’s been our LT for 6 yrs now & we’ve seen him have some very good games (good as in ‘No penalties, no sacks/pressures allowed, even some fairly decent run-blocking’). We’ve seen other games though where this 6’6″ 338 lb behemoth is steam-rolled & tossed like Raggedy Andy.

I’m wondering now if there’s a certain ‘type’ of DE/OLB that Smith just can’t handle. Certain moves that he’s just not quick enough to deal with maybe? Or perhaps he has trouble getting the last play out of his mind & loses focus on the next one.

But I’m also wondering why, over a 6-year period, no coach has said ‘Big guy we’re gonna try you at Guard because you’re too INCONSISTENT to play LT in the NFL”. Donovan’s almost exactly the same size as Carl Nix was. That might be a little ‘big’ for Guard, but Carl was a mauler & used his size to full advantage.

And oh BTW, dedicating ANOTHER OLINEMAN to team-tag every play with your $14 mil a year LT tells me you signed the wrong LT. It also tells me that against playoff-quality teams you’re gonna lose. Ten guys against 11 in that scenario doesn’t spell victory.

  7. Bob in Valrico Says:

last week Brady threw into double coverage at times. He rarely does that to Evans. Get the ball to Evans more. I don’t know whether to blame Leftowich or Brady for not utilizing him more. It does seem like Brady favors Scotty Miller and
his new toy Anthony Brown more,IMO. Hopefully he wiil more time in pocket when Marpet returns.

  8. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

76 is not championship quality. Winning a playoff game with him at LT would be a fluke. He needs to be replaced next year if we want to go far.

Everyone remembers Cam Jordan posting after D Smith signed a new deal. He has no respect for D Smith, and was talking mess. You know he was glad to see, because, he knows as long as D Smith is there, he is going to win against him. Dennis Allen knows he can blow a hole wide open at the Left Tackle. If not for a penalty D Smith gave up 3 sacks in 3 consecutive plays. I have never seen that in the 44 years I have watched NFL football. If teams focus on blasting the left side, the Bucs better have a back chipping on his side consistently or Brady will get planted many more times and it will wreck the season. Wirfs has been an overall revelation, even though he has had his moments, but they have been far less the veteran LT D Smith. As I said before, I would be kicking the tires on a possible upgrade at LT. I stated this Joe when you posted about the “possibility” of the lineman from Minnesota Riefs. D Smiths days are numbered unless he suddenly gets more consistent. But after 6 years, usually leopards do not change their spots. GO BUCS!!! KEEP TOM ALIVE FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP DRIVE!!!!!

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If we have to get D Smith some help…..do it…..whatever it takes to protect Brady….he simply doesn’t have enough time to go through his progressions….if his first target isn’t open he throws it away or goes to a back that is usually covered.

We’ll deal with Smith next year….I’ve been suggesting moving Wirfs to LT & drafting a RT…thus saving the $14.2 mil for other players .

  11. Razor Ramone Says:

Did he lose a jet ski? I totally missed that.

  12. SufferingSince76 Says:

The fact that the story has to mention getting help for Smith shows he’s not that good, in addition to his play. He makes a lot of money not to be able to consistently do his job. Do you really think he would start for any other team?

  13. Steve Gaudreau Says:

Unfortunately we all know who the true heroes are in football. The offensive line. Without those behemoths there would be no glory for any QB. Wanna lose games? Be a primadonna and piss off your offensive line and then prepare yourself to take a beating. TB12 knows this and so for years he’s been taking care of those boys. Sometimes he lights them up for motivation but never for degradation. And sometimes they just get beat by the defense. Hopefully they will be able to work as a unit for the rest of the season.

You have a selective memory. We have been complaining about our left tackle forever. Fact.

  15. unbelievable Says:

Donovan Smith has been a problem in terms of consistency since his first day.

That wasn’t an excuse for the previous quarterback, so why is it now?

  16. Lokog Says:

We will always fail with d smith on the team we already know he’s lazy what else do you need to see it’s like kenley Jansen closer for my World Series champs Dodgers he keeps failing year after year and doc keeps putting him out there Dodgers #1 🖕🏽The rest
