JPP The Warrior

November 29th, 2020

Needs a “breather.”

Where would the Bucs be without JPP?

The NFL sack king, Shaq Barrett, is having a really down year (for sacks) and will be very fortunate to have 10 this season. (Man, remember when we’d give our left nut for a 10-sack player?)

Shaq currently has five sacks.

With Vita Vea out with a broken leg, the only consistent harassment of quarterbacks (don’t get Joe started on pressures vs. sacks again, especially with the Bucs facing a guy in a few hours who is impervious to pressure) is old man Jason Pierre-Paul.

JPP has been a warrior both on and off the field. And the Bucs have him on a rotation of sorts to try to keep gas left in his old tank.

And while JPP understands this, he doesn’t like it. He wants to wreak havoc on the field.

Last week Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles was asked about JPP’s reluctance to get off the field.

“JPP makes a hard case but we still have to give him a breather here or there,” Bowles said. “We have to protect him from himself.

“You love the effort. We like where he is at right now, especially playing the game the way he plays it.”

Before the season, Joe said the most important thing for the defense was to keep JPP upright. And if that means he has to take off snaps to make sure he’s able to play on fire the rest of the time, so be it.

Without JPP, Joe fears this defense would crumble.

Your probably right Joe. But have seen JPP is a rare player. Up there with some of the great FA acquisitions eg Simeon Rice, but a more vocal leader.

    Go Bucs!

    In BA I Trust!

Impervious to pressure? Nobody in that league as long as pressure includes knockdowns. Pain isn’t usually sought. That’d be impervious. Oh wait I forgot to look up impervious.

JPP is easily one of the best acquisitions the Bucs have made in a long time. While not the “vocal” leader, he is clearly leading by example. And a tough SOB to boot!

jpp is totally a vocal leader…

and he seemingly brought his homie lavonte david out of his shell to become so much more of a vocal leader as well…
