Doesn’t Understand The Angst

November 27th, 2020

Doesn’t get the unrest.

If the Bucs are not playing and Joe is scrolling through his NFL Sunday Ticket channels, there’s a good chance Joe will land on the channel broadcasting a team from the center of the nation.

That would be the Chiefs. Not that Joe has any soft spot in his heart for the Chiefs. That’s Ira’s boyhood team. But when Joe watches football, Joe wants entertainment (that’s why Joe watches a lot of Big XII football on Saturdays, especially Oklahoma — that league may not play defense but damn it if ain’t fun to watch).

If the Bucs are not playing, Joe demands NFL strongman Roger Goodell offer up entertainment. And you cannot have an entertaining team without an entertaining quarterback.

A certain quarterback almost always delivers on non-Bucs Sundays. That quarterback is Mahomes. Pat Mahomes.

This Mahomes is the next NFL superstar. He is among the best quarterbacks Joe has ever witnessed, certainly since Aaron Rodgers and Ben Roethlisberger were young guns. And it freaks Joe out to know a dude who is 25 owns a piece of an MLB team (Royals). That’s just wild to Joe.

Yes, Sunday the Bucs sure have their work cut out for them. If the Bucs can get torn up by Jared Goff and Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods, imagine what Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Cheetah Hill will do? Dang.

This week Joe is hearing chirping among fans and NFL analysts that maybe park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, jet ski-losing, handshake-stiffing Bucs quarterback Tom Brady may have made a mistake playing for the Bucs. Or maybe Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians may have made a mistake signing Brady and his six rings.

This attitude puzzles Mahomes, who raved about the once-loser Bucs who seem on the cusp of a wild card berth for their first playoff appearance since the 2007 season. With Brady.

“He’s in a great spot,” Mahomes said of Brady. “They’ve got a lot of weapons there and Coach [Bruce] Arians is a great coach, and they’re winning a lot of football games. …

“I don’t think it’s going to feel very much different. It’s still a very good football team that’s playing really good football and winning a lot of football games. So we know it’s going to be a great challenge for us, and we’re excited for it.”

Yeah, lost in the frustration against the Rams is the Bucs only lost by a field goal. The Rams may be the hottest team in the NFL.

And yeah, Brady may have had the crappiest game of his short Bucs days on Monday night. Do we really expect Brady to be just as bad or worse on Sunday? Unlikely.

Yeah, when the Bucs are not on TV, Joe enjoys watching Mahomes. Joe would really enjoy watching him Sunday if the Bucs can pick him off three times and send him back to America’s Heartland eating an “L.”

The key is Joe Haeg. If he has to start, our chances of winning are miniscule at best. Hopefully, Ali is cleared to play.

  2. Rayjay1122 Says:

Gump says “The Bucs are like a box of Chocolates, you never know what your gonna get”

  3. Casual Observer Says:

Although some of the issues fall on Brady, most of it lies in the coaching. These highly paid guys have got to do better – in all phases.

  4. Sumosam Says:

Yep. It depends on which team decides to show up.

I am afraid we will have no answer for Hill.

Carolina lost to the Chiefs by 2 points In KC.
We beat Carolina by multiple scores Twice!!

    The Raiders beat the Chiefs.
We beat the Raiders by FOUR TDs plus!!!

I wish ‘transitive properties’ applied in the NFL.

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

TBBF watches teams from the North Center……>Bears, Packers, Vikings & Lions….because if we are going to get squeezed out of the playoffs, it will likely come from there…

Bears have the best chance because they own the tiebreaker….

The Bears at 5-5 have the Packers twice, the Vikings & the Texans….

  8. August 1976 Buc Says:

Old face of the NFL meets the current face of the NFL, surely Mahome boy has become the Gold Standard. But with that said, Brady still may have more hardware then Mahomes will get. 6 Rings. Mahomes is the most complete QB I have ever seen. The way he ban run and throw. Tough game for our vulnerable defense. They have to outscore the Chiefs. Nothing less than 35 by the Bucs to have a chance.. Clean Jersey and they have a chance. Dirty jersey for Tom and it is over. GO BUCS!!!!

  9. Gbobucsfan Says:

I agree with most things “joe” but not sure the rams are the hottest team. Saints are on fire even without Brees.

  10. Etzel Says:

Mahomes is right. This is a great choice for Brady.

However…. Jaboo better than that washed up jabroni. Tommy limp-wrist can’t even please his wife, let alone toss the rock down the field. I’ll continue watching in hopes that we all get to see Tommy separated from consciousness. It’s the least he deserves for torpedoing the future of this team.

  11. Darin Says:

Send em early and often Bowles. The GB game is a distant memory. Time for another.

  12. Buc1987 Says:

Etzel…the team has sucked for over a decade now.

How is having Tom Brady torpedoing the future of a team that has sucked for over a decade?

I don’t get some of you ridiculous fans. They ain’t going to win every game.

It’s like you’re so used to losing you WANT it to happen. You want the 4-12 seasons to come back.

  13. Coburn Says:

Hopefully with Jensen back at center we don’t have an erratic snap that costs us….but yeah hopefully Ali can go and our backup tackle does ok if Smith can’t go

  14. Buc1987 Says:

Oh I get it now…you’re trying to compare Winston a loser to the 6 time SB champion known as the GOAT.

Winston ain’t ever going to lead ANY team to even ONE Super Bowl.

  15. Pewter Power Says:

Blow out loss coaching to incompetent to game plan so have no idea what the real weakness is of good teams or how to make adjustments fast enough. Truly don’t understand the value of the biggest staff of coaches in the nff. They still look lost with no identity.

  16. Etzel Says:

When other teams go “all-in” it’s Super Bowl or bust. When the Bucs go “all-in” it’s to lose in the Wild Card round. I’m sorry your standards are pathetically low, but I’d rather suck with a bad roster, than to flounder in mediocrity with a team that is supposedly “maxed out”

  17. D1 Says:

    Buc 87,

I believe that etzels, nurse didn’t give him his meds and/or forgot to change his depends.

Alec I’ll take bucs fans for 200……. Cranky, delusional and smells like diarrhea
    DING DING DING……WHO IS ETZEL

  18. Etzel Says:

Really says something about someone who admits this team isn’t going anywhere but is satisfied. Media attention and “relevance” mean nothing to me.

  19. Buc1987 Says:

Brady’s been signed to a 2 year deal.

Who said they are going “all in”?

  20. Buc1987 Says:

The team is 7-4(on the way to 10-5 or 10-6) and you still haven’t explained how they torpedoed their future by getting Brady.

Then again this says it all: “I’d rather suck with a bad roster”

You love the 4-12 seasons and want to go back to that.

  21. Etzel Says:

*hard face palm* his body has already begun breaking down this season. It happened the same time last year. It will be worse next year. It’s time to admit this is less about the Bucs and more about your latent homosexual feelings for another man. I get it, he’s a handsome guy.

  22. Buc1987 Says:

    11-5*

  23. Etzel Says:

You sign a 900 year old QB, you’re going all-in. Sorry you’re changing the narrative of the season to fit your own sad reality. Have you read any of the articles at this site???

  24. Etzel Says:

His body has already begun breaking down this year. It happened last year. It will be worse in 2021. Sorry you bought into this “hurr durrr Tom doesn’t age, he could play til he’s 60” BS they are peddling on the major networks.

This could be a good situation for a young QB next season. But everyone is hellbent on letting Tom live out his fantasies like he’s a kid with cancer or something. And why?? Because primetime games (which always go terrific, btw)

  25. Buc1987 Says:

I’ve never heard anyone from the Bucs saying anything remotely about going “all in”. Surely that might have been the narrative coming from this site or other media because of all the “talent” that was brought in.

Why didn’t they sign Brady to a 1 year deal if it’s SB or bust?

The team has sucked for over a decade and right now YES I’m happy with 10-6 or 11-5 with a wild card berth.

  26. Buc1987 Says:

Hurr durr I believed all the hype when they brought in all these players and thought they were going to the SB….

Me? I never bought into anything.

  27. Buc1987 Says:

    I know.

    Let’s hire Schiano back.

    Bring back Mike Glennon.

Lets go back to those days.

  28. Pewter Power Says:

Even the glazers say they want to be the first team to play a home game in the super bowl which seems like it would be a disadvantage for this team. Anyone saying they didn’t go all in after all the offseason signings even at atacked position like tight end is just lying because they loook like trash against playoff caliber defenses. It’s not just Brady age, the Head coach is 100 years old of course they went all in

  29. Buc1987 Says:

Who here realistically thought they were going to SB this year?

    No me.

  30. Etzel Says:

I’m sorry that I didn’t clarify, but I felt this way prior to the season starting. The results are just the justification for my feelings.

You know what is more idiotic than believing this team was going to win a SB this year?? THINKING THAT THEY HAVE A BETTER CHANCE IN 2021. Hahahaha

  31. Etzel Says:

Nobody should seriously be able to look themselves in the mirror and say that this team isn’t all-in. They signed Antonio frickin’ Brown, bro! One year deal, bro! Gronk has one year left in his deal, bro!

It’s pathetic to watch some of you move the goalposts. It’s not a matter of if you’re a fan or not, it’s a matter of your view of success. You are satisfied with the popularity contest. A Super Bowl is all I give a damn about and these moves are all in the opposite direction of that. Screw your “winning culture”

  32. Etzel Says:

Is this season really that much better than going 9-7 in 2016? At least that team was mostly younger players, with whom there was hope they could improve (they didnt) and a QB on a rookie deal.

Winning 1 or 2 more games on a weak schedule during a season where there aren’t very many competitive teams… relying on a QB that is old as dirt and an aging defensive line…. Yeah, I should be siced huh??

  33. Etzel Says:

AND I’M STILL MAD WE GOT RID OF BRADLEY MCDOUGALD

  34. bojim Says:

Mahomes running and passing. Spooky. It’s funny all the people that raved about Brady and The Bucs going to the SB and now they are putting Brady and the Bucs down. And denying that they were enthused in the first place. Bandwagon stuff. Go Bucs!!!!

  35. First Down Tampa Bay Says:

    Etzel

While yes, for 5 games during the 2016 season, it was great. But for the other 11 games in that season, the decade before it, and the 4 years since, it has not been a great ride. Right now, we are in the best position to win a Superbowl since 2003. And yet, Bucs fans, who’ve endured nothing but losing since 2007, have the audacity to complain about being 7-4 and having the greatest QB to ever hold a football on their team.

    Unbelievable.

  36. Defense Rules Says:

Wow you guys are getting testy. Of course Etzel, it’s best to feed the lions from OUTSIDE the cage. Hopping in there to taunt them while they’re grumpy is never a good idea.

Bucs have lost 2 out of the last 3, but against 2 VERY GOOD TEAMS (Saints & Rams). Against the Saints we looked like dog-doo; against the Rams we had our chances to pull it out, but we didn’t. Same thing in our loss to the Bears. When the dust clears, a loss is still a loss & the best you can usually do is just move on.

Our Bucs’ team laid 38 pts on the Packers … and held them to 10 pts. We laid 45 pts on the Raiders … and held them to 20 pts. Both teams have an excellent chance of making the playoffs.

Of course our Bucs’ team also screwed the pooch by only scoring 3 pts against the Saints … while giving up 38 pts. Our next lowest scoring game was when we only scored 19 pts against the Bears … while giving up 20 pts. Bummer. Both of them have excellent defenses and most likely will be in the playoffs also.

Like SumoSam said … ” It depends on which team decides to show up.”

  37. Etzel Says:

You all know that playoff games are all primetime, right?? Tommy gonna shrivel up in front of the big audience, without Daddy Belichick to hold his hand.

  38. D1 Says:

“It’s pathetic to watch some of you move the goalposts. It’s not a matter of if you’re a fan or not, it’s a matter of your view of success.”

That’s a problem! No one has seen the Bucs and success together ! Maybe its time to start thinking success has something to do with wins and loses . I’m convinced that success is not worth waiting on year after year after year.

” A Super Bowl is all I give a damn about and these moves are all in the opposite direction of that. Screw your “winning culture””

Are you finished moving dem posts?

….”screw winning culture” preceeded by “all I care about is” winning…..holy crap. .. I feel ashamed for you. ..

  39. Boltsfan17 Says:

Unfortunately the Bucs are not an upper tier team. Chiefs will smoke them.

  40. 76bucsfan Says:

Karma is a biatch..Nothing but injuries and chaos since signing AB….

  41. Etzel Says:

If you don’t know the difference between actual winning and “establishing a winning culture”…. YOU MIGHT BE A BUCS FAN!!

  42. Sesteprenelicus Says:

They’ll be fine Sunday up until the end, when it gets too close to Brady’s bedtime.

  43. unbelievable Says:

LMAO at the idiot fans who don’t understand how this team mortgaged away it’s future due to offseason moves.

1/3 of our starters at minimum will be gone next season due to contracts and salary cap issues, and we also have no QB for the future.

We’re built to go all in this season and this season only. Brady doesn’t even come back next year if we don’t make a deep playoff run.
