“Bruce Arians Right Now… He’s Not Cutting It”

November 27th, 2020

Former Tom Brady teammate says he’s mistreated.

Joe thinks this is crazy talk. But hey, if you want to promote your hollering show…

Former Belicheats linebacker and teammate of park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, jet-ski-losing, handshake-stiffing Bucs quarterback Tom Brady, Rob Ninkovich, appeared on BSPN’s “Stay in Bed” this morning. You better sit tight for what he had to say.

Ninkovich is calling for a new Bucs coach because (gasp!) Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians is mean to Brady and won’t slurp Brady in public. In short, Ninkovich said of Arians’ work with Brady, “He’s not cutting it.”

That’ a bunch of horse manure.

Further, Ninkovich called out Arians for saying one of his players may have suffered a career-ending injury.

“I never had a head coach say someone had a career-ending injury,” Ninkovich growled. “Who does that?”

Well, Joe will take a stab. A coach who is honest, that’s who. And guess what? The center did have a career-ending injury, you stooge!

Ninkovich also took Arians to task for saying Brady was confused by coverages. “I don’t think Tom Brady gets confused by coverages.”

You don’t think? How about calling up/texting Arians or even Brady and they may fill you in.

This nonsense that somehow Brady is some god and no one may speak ill of his play when something he does sucks out loud is over the top for Joe.

Is Brady some deity? Do we all have to double-genuflect in his presence? Don’t look at him or our eyes will burn for all eternity? Should there be slaves who spread rose petals in his path so he doesn’t feel the hard, cold sidewalk?

You know, if Brady really did have this thin of skin and couldn’t handle honest critique, he would have retired by now. His wife has more cash than the nation of Tuvalu.

Absolutely nothing is wrong with Arians calling out Brady (or any player, if needed), especially when one Hall of Famer knows people in Brady’s inner circle that claim Brady wants to be called out so he’s not put above the rest of the team.

Even one of Arians’ former players said it’s wrong to blast Arians for being honest.

If Joe didn’t know better, Joe would guess some producer at BSPN wrote Ninkovich’s anti-Arians sermon (ahem).

And what’s with this “thrown under the bus” nonsense? Joe always thought that’s when someone innocent got stuck with the blame for a mishap. The only person throwing Brady under the bus is Brady with his sorry deep passing.

This is the kind of tripe you can expect from “Stay in Bed.”

(Most mornings, Joe flips between the creator, curator and overall guru of Pro Football Talk, the great Mike Florio on NBC Sports Network, and the NFL Network gang at “Good Morning Football.”)

At least Florio and Peter Schrager and Kyle Brandt and Kay Adams and Nate Burleson do their research.

Aren’t there some footballs this Ninkovich could help deflate?

I fully concede some of the current woes are on Brady and his dance with Father Time. I agree Ninkovich is too biased and is protecting Brady. But is Brady a deity? Yup. Not all deitys are perfect! But frankly, this is a coaching, coaching, and coaching problem. Bruce Arians is shaping up to be a mediocre coach at best who could not synchronize an cast of big-name players like the Bucs have never had, and probably never will have. I’m not being sarcastic when I say I’ll bet Bruce Arians has not walked 500 yards total at practice in nearly two seasons.

Look, BA, should learn from his big first blunder in NO. Beat the Saints at home this time, and you’re in the driver seat and #1 seed. He couldn’t do it. But he has the players. And he couldn’t/wouldn’t understand what happened. Then he and his wonferful coaches did the same thing against the Rams in another must win. Crap comes in 3s. Please be ready to play Sunday, Ali. Really sucks with you know this coach won’t figure it out, and we have to hope a single player is able to play. This doesn’t happen in NO, LA, and KC. They find a way to prep, and to win. Not BA.

  2. tmaxcon Says:

Well, Joe will take a stab. A coach who is honest, that’s who. And guess what? The center did have a career-ending injury, you stooge!”

Damn Joe calling BA honest is like calling Charles Manson a mentor for young women. wow… put the kool aid down. just another failed glazer pr stunt that will end without a single playoff victory….

  3. Jmarkbuc Says:

    What Roy said…

  4. Mike Johnson Says:

Stop treating old man Brady like he is special. Arians is mean to brady? Please..don’t bust my knees. The man makes 25 grand a year and he cannot get yelled at? I see what the slant is going to be in the future. It’s all on Arians. Well sure its his fault and brady gotta share some of it too. And Just-Tice for all baby.

  5. bojim Says:

Stay in bed should probably stay in bed.

  6. RiodeJaneiroBucsFan Says:

Of course Tom Brady is having major issues with the long passes. That’s on him.
But the play calling has been so moronic that make me want to smash the TV with a hammer.
Despite Brady’s misfires, the defeat against the Rams is a direct result of Arians and Leftwich terrible decision making. That formation in the 4th-1 was unbelievable. Why in the hell a team that needs less than one yard not even threats to run the ball? And why call a deep pass with plenty of time in the clock + 2 timeouts on a 2nd down in a drive that was going well.
Those are just some examples of the awful job the OC + Arians delivered on Monday.
Make it simple, don’t be stubborn and arrogant. We can’t afford another Coach “My Scheme”. Just keep doing what’s working well.
    Go Bucs!!!

  7. El Buco Realisto Says:

Looks like the sheep are missing what is going on again!!!!!!!! No surprise at that!!!!!!!!!! You think all of the media all independently started to tell the truth about ole stale biscuit all on their own!!!!!!!! Or is there trouble at one buc, and a very famous QB is not happy and “leaking” the truth out to media contacts!!!!!!!!!

Wake up sheep, and see the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Joe Says:

    Welcome back TMax!!! Missed ya!

  9. ModHairKen Says:

    RiodeJaneiroBucsFan, spot on.

And despite all of the outside predictions of doom, and even some inside ones, Bucs beat KC.

  10. El Buco Realisto Says:

    @joe

Tmax never left!!!!!!!!! He has been observing and disappointed of Buc sheep that feel for the hype once again!!!!!! How the sheep were fold by well known players that played great long ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And now the truth will be exposed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Gofortheface30 Says:

What I got out of this post is….Tmax is back. Raise hell tmax

  12. Joe in Michigan Says:

A loss brings the roaches out of the woodwork! Tmaxcon is back? Where have you been? I didn’t hear a peep from you in the Bucs 7 wins in 11 games so far this year.

  13. Joe in Michigan Says:

Mike Johnson: Um, he makes $25 million, not $25 grand.

  14. Steven007 Says:

Joe, good take here. Nincompoop acts like no one is above reproach. The whole thing is a big non-issue and is only being talked about because the Bucs have lost a few games where TB obviously wasn’t at his best. In a fox sports interview before one of the last two games, Brady himself spoke openly about the issue and said that he welcomes the criticism. That by itself should make it a non-story. In terms of former teammates reporting on it anyways. And yes, welcome back trollmax! Even little Stevie missed your dusty windbag rhetoric. Well missed is perhaps a bit strong…

  15. Hoops Says:

Not a fan of Lefty or BA. Couldn’t coach last year, not doing a good job this year. Got the horses, just don’t have the JOCKeys.

  16. T REX Says:

Bruce is old and washed up.

    Leftwich is a joke.

    Licht is pure trash.

    GO BUCS!

  17. Dan Williamson Says:

Joe. I am sick and tired of you using this blog as your Bully Puloit to trash, denigrate and malign the greatest qb who ever strapped up. You call him names, point out every mistake and magnify it without getting to the reason why. Bend your freaking knee mister and understand that yes, he is football deity and easily has been the reason this offense has produced what it has. You pump yo brakes on the mush mouth nonsense you have been spouting to cause division between the GOAT and Arians and between the fellas in general.

  18. Brandon Says:

Williamson…. can’t even tell if you are serious or trolling. Brady is clearly not without fault.

  19. Pewter Power Says:

Bruce is old and washed up.

    Leftwich is a joke.

    Licht Does not coach.

At least we had an identity last year and leftwich still wouldn’t run the ball no matter how many interceptions Winston threw

They deserve every bit of criticism coming their way even if it is stupid. Any other competent coordinator would at the very least not get shut down or blown out even we lost a game. Arians is done leftwich is a never was and I truly wish if not Arians that Harold Goodwin was calling plays, at least he has experience. No chance we outcoach anyone in playoffs so no faith in the team winning This week

Gotta say they surprised me on the podcast picking the Bucs, that was bold but hope your right but wouldn’t bet on them at all

  20. RICHARD weeks Says:

All it will take is a win against the chiefs and El Jerko Realist
Will climb back in Winston’s pantie drawer..

  21. Adrnagy Says:

Bruce is at fault. Especially when Bruce says he coaches to players strength. So why not adjust to Brady and Brady playbook. I said it from the getgo. Biggest story will be Brady/leftwhich/ Bruce playbook.

Aside from one year wonder in shaq which he hasn’t show up so far. And all you guys wanted to give this guy a max contract. Lol.

Ninkovich Is right Brady doesn’t get confused by defenses. Too much experience. Is the adjustments by OC/ HC play calling. And now with left guard in question I wonder how the oline will perform and if they will dictated the next game.

In the last play INT by Brady brate was open for a 10 yd gain. Brady let it go deep. That’s straight up playcalling with no audible. Not Brady’s game.

  22. Craig Says:

At times it seems like the offensive scheme is archaic, Leftwich needs to find some more plays, plays that get receivers open better. Slants that use another receiver as a pick is one way. Crossing slants is another.

Leftwich’s plays are based in that slow windup he played with. They need to upgrade.

It does, also, look like Brady is only as good as Donovan Smith in any particular game. If Smith is having a bad day, Brady has a bad day and looks his age.

Arians is somewhat out of touch.

  23. FirstTimePoster Says:

Ninkovich threw out a controversial take and you took the bait. Just got him more eyeballs than is deserved. Good job.

  24. Defense Rules Says:

Tom Brady won SIX Super Bowls with the Patriots & took them to the playoffs 17 times in the 19 years he was their QB. I’d think that folks would EXPECT his teammates from those incredible years to back him up 100%. And more.

Brady’s legacy doesn’t hang in the balance based on what he does here this year. He did however almost certainly come here to prove something … to himself IMO. Right now we’re 7-4 but it hasn’t been the smooth, well-oiled machine that he quarterbacked in NE in most past years. Is he frustrated? Probably. Did he expect thumpings like our 38-3 loss to Drew Brees & the Saints like he experienced a few games ago? Probably not. Is he happy with what’s he seeing in terms of Bucs’ coaching? Probably not. Is he even content with his own play? I doubt it.

But the Bucs won’t improve unless they figure out where they REALLY are right now. Total honesty, and I don’t mean in the media. Bucs have a lot of ‘issues’ right now … coaching, QBing, OLine, DLine, etc. WINNERS deal with their ‘issues’ and fix them. LOSERS ignore them, then whine & watch the WINNERS beat the daylights out of each other in the playoffs. Time will tell …

  25. Adrnagy Says:

How do you forget Evans , Godwin , rojo for half of the game.

  26. Nptbuc Says:

Can someone help me out just a little? I am really confused about Brady’s last pick to Brate. Was that played called in from the sidelines or was Brady given the option to freelance? If called in from the sidelines Brady should be absolved of all blame! Stupidest play call of the year award to BL and BA. If it was Brady’s call, back up the dump trucks and pour it on him. Which was it?

  27. Joe in Michigan Says:

Defense Rules: Agreed. Now let’s see if the proper adjustments are made.

  28. BucEmUp Says:

Its the playcalling and forcing the ball downfield and not letting Brady take what the defense is giving him. Plain and simple.

This is Arians product and its not looking good at all.

  29. tmaxcon Says:

Building a team around a washed up coach, washed up goat a few talented but mentally weak defenders is never going to work…. That would be like starting a stud farm with 2020 versions of Defense, Rules and St Pete versus there 1930 teenage selves…. Not going to win the derby with relics…

Joe please tell me there is a long term plan???? If you can do it with a straight face. You’ll earn a case of bud light lime tell boys and 24 brown bags….

  30. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Arians can’t criticize Brady any worse than he criticizes himself….Brady know when he has screwed up…..he will be the first one to admit that he failed on two game winning drives….

All this is trying to make a controversy when none exists..

And if Shipley was 23 years old it might not be a career-ending injury….but at 34 it probably is…..

  31. Joe Says:

Joe please tell me there is a long term plan????

There is none, as far as a quarterback. Bucs decided to shove all their chips to the middle of the table for this year.

Quarterback to succeed Brady? Don’t get Joe started on Josh Rosen.

  32. REDZONE BA Says:

And ^^^ no short-term plan. Seeing constant announcements for Covid issues across NFL. Should Brady get contact exposure or other – game over.

Kudos to Bucs for avoiding all the Covid issues affecting other teams. We got that going for us.

  33. westernbuc Says:

We need a new coach because Arians is a bag of hot air and should’ve stayed retired.

  34. Soggy Says:

OH NO WE SUCK AGAIN, LETS TALK DRAFT AND COACH CHANGE>>lol..

  35. tmaxcon Says:

A almost a billion dollar franchise with no plan…. Sounds likevamerica. I Love my bucs… What a circus.

No one believes this is a contender so once again it’s Thanksgiving weekend and nothing to look forward to but the draft next year. At least our bucs are consistent in this area.

  36. tmaxcon Says:

I am sure by week 15 the glennon mob will be fully reformed and campaigning for their guys triumphant return to lead this team to another multi season basement title streak.

  37. tmaxcon Says:

    Hey tickdoc

When is the post coming? ” Hey glennons only 30, followed by some ridiculous math” math that has only ever translated to heartless losses… Is the Post coming????? The heartless one is well rested ill give you that….

  38. REDZONE BA Says:

All of us serious Bucs fans have to accept reality. We picked up a snake in the grass in hiring BA, and surprised the snake bit us. Shame on us!

BA took a young, error-prone QB last year and rather than “adjusting” BA was hell-bent to run Risk-It-Biscuit offense when the results were obvious. Losing record and 30 TO’s led to BA shuttling our #1 QB draft pick. The QB’s fault, per BA.

Fast forward – now we have the GOAT QB wearing a Bucs uniform – the most successful SB-winning QB ever, leading the Bucs with the greatest collection of WR’s ever assembled on a single team – yet, here we are, dissecting who is at fault and why for losing against good teams.

I echo Joe’s past posts that familiarity excuse is lame. I would love to know who is actually calling the plays – BL or Brady? Maybe Brady finally felt free of the NE shackles to go long, but the old guy just cannot make the throws. Who freaking knows at this point?

At 7-4, we are in good shape for playoffs facing 4 bad teams at end of season. So Fans will be happy later, but need a reality check when we face GOOD teams in playoffs. BA and Brady need an intervention….soon.

  39. REDZONE BA Says:

Dang @Joe’s – What part of my earlier post required extreme moderation? Just so I know, going forward.

  40. SOEbuc Says:

Like everyone else, Brady and this dream team(???) got me pumped but I knew the future was still coming fast. Gronk said he’s done after this year for all the people that bought the jersey. We are veeery thin in money. Whether Tom stays or not, find a way to get QB Sam Ehlinger out of Texas in the first. 6’3″ 225 lb Taysom Hill mixed with an amazing gunslinger. He got the Big 12 record most snaps without an interception his Jr year. Write it down Jason.

  41. REDZONE BA Says:

@Soebuc – Rosen is not total toast yet. Can sling it and is smart. Might be our future QB with some coaching and our talent.

  42. John M Nagle Says:

Joe you are missing the point. TB is a HOF precision short passing move the chains machine. Let Tom cook. No risk it, no biscuit, no SB ring.

  43. All lives matter Says:

I believe 10-6 an we’re in, but we still have 2 against Atlanta and they tend to p|ss on our parade often. Time to work on that playcalling. Where are the designed out passes to Fournette or maybe get Fournette and RoJo on the field at the same time. They’re both good RB’s and can do some damage if we just got creative. I think this would wear down defenses and open up better play action as well. Keep looking for Brate when you need eight.

  44. Hodad Says:

I now what the long term plan is. The same plan they used after we won the SB, and they cut costs after buying Man U. The Glazers will look to save money with the cap going down, and let the rebuild begin. Hopefully this time they pick the right G.M., and coach for the job. But what are the chances of that? Yo ho, yo ho, a Bucs life for me!!

  45. orlbucfan Says:

More bashing Licht bloviating. He is one of the bright spots. Methuselah can change any offensive play he wants. Both BA and BL have said it. Bucs will make the playoffs. My question is will the team carry BA/TB if they call stupid plays? They have the collective talent now. Talk about an Identity Statement. Go Bucs Sunday! Thank god for the Bye Week, too.

  46. Weebs Says:

All of our woes are on Brady, BA, and BL. Brady has lost the deep ball and the play calling is so painful to watch. Keep the passing game in Brady’s short to mid range wheelhouse but noooooo lets run for 1 yard on first down then try to throw a bomb into double coverage on second down. It’s exhausting.

Now as far as our defense goes… The loss of Vita was so massive. He took out two blockers on just about every play. Hope he comes back the same player because he is really special. Thank God JPP is having a career year

  47. Fummer43 Says:

Brady is the greatest winning player in NFL history…..Arians should be learning from Brady, not the other way around….Ninko has 2 rings; he knows what it takes….. as any Pats fan observer of this Bucs this year can tell you; BA is full of BS…. but don’t worry though, TB is 43 and will be gone soon enough and then the Bucs can be irrelevant again.

  48. Etzel Says:

Nobody said any of this last year. It was all Jameis right? Jameis’ fault we exclusively run on 1st down. Jameis’ fault for the missed kicks. Jameis’ fault we have no run game.

But now? Every talking head at a major network is calling out BA.. Why??? RACISM.
