Arians Says Prime Time Fixes Worked

November 25th, 2020

Lots of chatter last week about the Bucs not being ready to play when the sun goes down.

Those days are over!

That’s the word from the head coach, Bucco Bruce Arians.

Speaking on his radio/internet show last night, an official Buccaneers production, Arians was asked whether his shift to night practices combined with changes to meeting times, team deodorant  and gameday routines got the job done when kickoff arrived against the Rams on Monday night.

“Oh, there’s no doubt,” Arians said with energy.

“Yeah, everybody was ready to play. I thought everything that we tried [in game readiness preparation] worked very, very well.  You know, it was a game we just didn’t make enough plays to win, especially in the fourth quarter.”

Unfortunately, ready and good enough are two different things.

Football is just that kind of game. If Antonio Brown catches the deep ball on his fingertips, or Shaq Barrett and Devin White don’t have stupid presnap penalties on third down, there’s a good chance The Bucs Life would be radically different right now.

Bruce — they didn’t work. The team looked horrific. Are you seeing something that the rest of us are not?

  2. El Buco Realisto Says:

Hard to believe that so many are out sabotage the supposed great coach that is ole stale biscuit!!!!!!!!!!!!!! According to ole stale biscuit, his great game plans and great preparations, ole stale biscuit should undefeated for the last 6 years!!!!!!!!!!!!

The “real” fans seem to remember that this was supposed to be the ” no excuse year of all no excuses”!!!!!!!!!!! Why is Joe making excuses for ole stale biscuit???????????

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. FLBoyInDallas Says:

The Bucs have the players, but if they ever want to make a Super Bowl they need to draft a QB in the first or second round next year and they need a coaching staff with more intelligence.

These guys are getting out-coached by every decent team they play. They can’t or won’t make adjustments until halftime, they can’t or won’t commit to the running game even though they have a strong one, and they can’t or won’t play aggressive defense from the first snap of the game, instead choosing to play soft, off and/or zone coverage until they find themselves in a hole.

Also, it looks like Brady is being forced to play Arians’ offense instead of them formulating the offense around his skillset. This clash of philosophies combined with the average to below average coaching on both sides of the ball pretty much means the Bucs will be one and done in the playoffs.

Honestly, against decent teams these guys look soft. That’s one of the worst things you can say about an NFL team.

  4. ClodHopper Says:

I guess you could say the changes they made, made them “Los Angeles ready?”

  5. LVMYBUCS Says:

Dude has dementia. I dont know what he was watching but I saw a team miss tackles blow coverage and lose a game that we could and should have won. Please re retire and take Leftwitch with you.

  6. CChead Says:

The most overrated Head Coach in the NFL wants the fans to believe they were ready for Monday nights debacle. Nobody’s buying what this con man is selling except for maybe the Glazers. The first half the D gave up an 85% completion percentage for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns. The second half the Offense only had 1 drive that produced points. Get the f outta here with your BS.

  7. Bobby M. Says:

Players might have been ready…..play callers were not.

Leftwich is too fascinated with passing, for example the 4th and inches play…..RUN THE BALL! If there’s one thing Rojo does consistently well its plowing into the line. We ran a short yardage pass on a critical down and our best strategy was to throw at one of the best CBs in the game?

  8. Elita Vita Says:

Prime time issues will be fixed when we win those prime time games!

  9. T REX Says:

Time to take the keys to the golf cart away from poor tired bruce.

What a horrible hire. And his turd in waiting is worthless too.

    FLUSH IT ALL.

  10. VABucsfan Says:

This coming from the same guy that said the secondary was “fixed last year”! Yet they still pay more zone than man. Hilarious!!

  11. El Buco Realisto Says:

Its a shame that ole stale biscuit is better at passing the blame then coaching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. NashvilleBuc Says:

oh look. squealisto is back. yay.

  13. Mike Johnson Says:

Primetime issues? If we are gonna win consistently with old man Brady, we’d better have a great..not fair to good Offensive line. Because Brady can’t run or pivot out of trouble like that youngster Mahomes, as we shall soon see. Anybody noticed our O line is slowly breaking down? Esp in the 2nd half of games? And this great secondary the media says we have? Where is it. They are getting beat like zulu drums. Ruck up Bucs..Kc is no joke.

  14. TOM Says:

    Just more Arian’s BS.

  15. Defense Rules Says:

El Buco Realisto … ” Why is Joe making excuses for ole stale biscuit???????????”

BA … “Yeah, everybody was ready to play. You know, it was a game we just didn’t make enough plays to win, especially in the fourth quarter.”

Joe … “Unfortunately, ready and good enough are two different things.”

Sorry Realist, I don’t think Joe’s making excuses for ole flea biscuit at all. We lost, plain and simple; and a large part of that was . Bucs offense was good & bad; Bucs’ defense was good & bad … final score was close, but this isn’t horse-shoes or hand grenades so ‘close’ doesn’t cut it. Yesterday/s JBF articles pretty much detailed all that.

  16. Alanbucsfan Says:

You can blame Brady, run game, play calling – the fact is the Rams secondary is alot better than Bucs’. Rams didn’t run ball much in 1st half and Brady had no turnovers, yet Bucs trailed by 3 at half due to poor secondary performance. Allowing 17 points in one half is lousy defense and it wasn’t run D.

  17. Thisisouryear!! Says:

I think we should give Bruce a break. Without Bruce, none of this would have happened. I think our defense is a little overrated but our offense is still coming together. We are going to be tough to beat in the playoffs. Nobody is going to want to play us. That’s exciting!!!

  18. UKBuccaneer Says:

It seems that after a decade of losing, a playoff calibre team isn’t enough for some fans.

  19. Kansas95Buc Says:

Does anyone remember being told that if we just changed the person at the QB position things would drastically get better?

    Pepperidge Farms remembers……..

  20. Buc1987 Says:

    11-5 here we come!

    Go Bucs!!!

  21. Architek Says:

11-5 is a successful season and now we need to evaluate if the these coordinators can get the job done.

  22. Defense Rules Says:

UKBuccaneer … “It seems that after a decade of losing, a playoff calibre team isn’t enough for some fans.”

I had to chuckle on reading that UK because I was thinking something along those lines after the Rams’ game. We’re still 7-4 with 5 games to go and we only won 7 games or more in a whole season 3 times since 2010. No reason we shouldn’t win 9-10 games, maybe even more; never know.

But then I thought ‘Wait a minute. We mortgaged the future to win it all this year, or next year at the latest’. And we’ve got a several high-value vets this year who almost certainly won’t be with us next year. Antonio Brown and probably Gronk to name but a couple? And the year after (at the latest) we’ll need a new starting QB. And oh ya, probably a new coaching staff.

THIS IS THE YEAR. Next year? Maybe but I wouldn’t put money on it at this point. After that, mega-changes are on the horizon. No UK, we mortgaged the farm, and just making the playoffs, at THAT cost, won’t sit well with fans or the Glazers. And this team will have to play a LOT better than we saw Monday night to even make a dent in the playoffs, ASSUMING we make it in of course.

  23. Tbbucs3 Says:

“Does anyone remember being told that if we just changed the person at the QB position things would drastically get better?”

I’ve tried to tell people that the issues on this team went way beyond #3.

And all offseason on here I’ve said don’t buy into the hype of the defense. But a lot of Bucs fans made the same mistake they did in 2016 by buying into a short sample size of good defensive play toward the end of the 2019 season.

Special Teams appears to be better, however.

  24. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Defense Rules

I’ve seen no evidence that “this is the year”. We’re not going to be facing the Giants or Panthers in the playoffs. This team simply cannot play against good defenses let alone good offenses.

What happens whenever we play against a good defense?
Brady faces pressure all night, Bucs can’t run the ball, BL’s panics and tries to force the deep ball, Etc.

Too many holes on this team to be a contender this year, we can start by signing a true 3rd down back which should’ve already been done.

  25. Thisisouryear!!! Says:

Tbbucs3- #3 had anxiety issues. I think a lot of QB’s could have come in and played well. I don’t think too many players could replace Brady’s changing the attitude of the team. I don’t think you can put a price on that. And I think if you change the attitude, that is something that could last long past Brady. Let’s face it, we’ve struggled against the over .500 teams, but we have beat the teams that we are supposed to beat. We’ve never done that before.

  26. Pewter Power Says:

So many excuses we would have never accepted with Winston as the quarterback. Every game every team that lost can point to a play or two or three as the reason they lost. This team has no identity at all and it shows when they play good defenses

    Jared Goff 1st half stats-
    21-25, 211 yards 2 td’s, 0 interceptions
    So much for fast starts…

    Rams D 1 sack, 5 QB hits
    Bucs D. 0 sacks , 3 QB hits

Bucs miss Vea alot – and the secondary is being exposed

  29. Swanee22 Says:

Need much protection from offensive line And running Backs. Short passes and use tight ends much more in offense to have a chance in 4th quarter. Chiefs – 31 Bucs – 20.

  30. PSL Bob Says:

Missed tackles, dropped passes by RBs, and poorly thrown balls are not on the coaches. The lack of QB pressures and throwing deep repeatedly when it isn’t working are issues that are on the coaches. So, in my opinion it was a combo of poor play-calling and poor execution. In any regard, I’d say that’s not being prepared.

  31. Bob in Valrico Says:

Brady is 0 and three against a good pass rush. Doesn’t bode well for a playoff run,IMO. ROJO has a 4.9 rushing average, Fournette a 4.0 and he also failed to show pass catching prowess. I’d stick with ROJO and give our rookie RB some
reps in the passing game. At this point in his career Brady needs a dependable outlet in his career.

  32. Jersey buc Says:

Ol stale biscuit troll is back after weeks in the cave

  33. ClwJB Says:

He is getting on my nerves with his lies – the Rams came out with ten times our energy – our D slept walked thru the fist half

The O sputtered out of the gate

He acts like we don’t watch the games….

  34. D1 Says:

    TBB3,

The Rams defense is 2nd in the league points scored, Chicago is 6th and the Saints 8th. Those are the teams we’ve lost to and the Giants are 12th.

IOW, we beat a good defense , the Giants, but struggled against the teams ranked in the top 10. Defenses ranked 13th and below were batting 1000.

  35. unbelievable Says:

Or if Brady didn’t throw 2 pathetic interceptions…

Or if Fournette doesn’t drop 3 different passes…

Or if the defense doesn’t miss 14 tackles…

Or if the coach remembers he’s allowed to challenge a play…

Or if the offense since coordinator gives the 3rd leading running back in the league more than 10 touches…

  36. Mike Johnson Says:

I’m slowly starting to think Arians is one of the greatest BSers of all time. Oh yeah, those primetime fixes really worked. You sound like that alien named Guliani.
