Wrecking Games

October 21st, 2020

Defense is back.

It’s a flashback to the old days, says a popular national sports radio and television personality.

Remember the good old days when Warren Sapp used to kick pylons before he kicked the arse of opposing quarterbacks? Derrick Brooks hit so ferociously he cracked receivers ribs and tight ends were frightened for their manhood heading up the seam because that’s where John Lynch lurked?

Those days have returned to Tampa Bay only with a different cast, says Adam Schein of CBS Sports Network and SiriusXM Radio. Writing in his weekly column for NFL.com, Schein loves how defense is back in style.

The Buccaneers’ defensive front seven was absolutely fantastic [against Green Bay]. Inside linebackers Devin White and Lavonte David were everywhere, while outside linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul pummeled Rodgers. Meanwhile, the defensive line — playing its first game without star NT Vita Vea (broken leg) — followed Ndamukong Suh’s dominant lead.

4-2 Tampa Bay’s offense has plenty of headline-grabbing star power, but the defense will routinely wreck games. Just ask Mr. Rodgers.

Man, Joe had flashbacks watching Sunday’s game with the Bucs wearing pewter pants and classic white jerseys. Joe even heard former NFL linebacker A.J. Hawk, speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, talk about how watching Ndamukong Suh and Aaron Rodgers jawing at each other, it looked like the old days when Brett Favre and Sapp used to go at it.

Yes, the Bucs missed Vita Vea. How could they not?

But with the play of Rakeem Nuñez-Roches and reinforcement coming with Steve McLendon, the Bucs should be OK stopping the run game inside.

I re-watched the game last night on 38.

It seemed like the pocket collapsed rather quickly on nearly every snap.

Being a Bucs fan you learn or learned to appreciate good defense.

That defense on Sunday was awesome!

The defense hit scary hard ands its speed was overwhelming. They made it look easy. But consistently is the name of the game in the NFL. They need another clean no penalty game to keep building upon. Good luck to them against the Raiders on Sunday.

Now compare Suh to softy-Mc-aplogizer!!! Suh is the DEFINITION of what you want on your defensive line!! McCoy is the guy you want to go watch the new avengers movie with!!! Huge difference!! …. This team is hurting people!! Look at the stars they have taken out this year and last!!! Teams are starting to worry about playing the bucs!!

Boston Boy, couldn’t agree more. Zero accepted penalties and zero turnovers. Those two factors probably contributed as much to the beat down as the Buc’s stifling defense. I’m sure Arians will beat that into their heads again this week in practices.

Love it. Grew up watching those legends play. Haha I used to wear my lynch jersey to the neighborhood football games and want to only play safety lol. Hope our defense plays consistently like they did against the packers if so we can’t be stopped.
