Will Bears Be This Silly?

October 6th, 2020

Talkin’ long ball.

The NFL world snickers and scoffs at the Bears’ offense, the Bucs’ opponent Thursday night in primetime.

The defense of the Bears is nothing to joke about.

Now on Monday, former Bucs quarterback Chris Simms said one reason for the Bucs throwing a lot of deep passes was that the Chargers were daring the Bucs and park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring quarterback Tom Brady to throw deep.

Bucco Bruce Arians said yesterday the same thing when asked about throwing deep often to beat the Chargers.

“I think they gave us those shots,” Arians said. “Not everybody’s been giving them to us. [Brady] saw it – we actually got a play in late.

“The long ball to Mike [Evans] from the seam, that was something [Brady] called. Obviously, he had a reason he called it because he was going to Mike all the way. Mike came up with a great 50-50 ball.”

Arians added that Brady is developing trust in his receivers to check out of plays and call his own thing.

“I think it’s a trust thing and just continual repetitions in practice,” Arians said. “Knowing where to go with it, when to go there and all those things that go with practice that we didn’t get [in the offseason].”

Joe hopes the Bears get stupid and cram the box daring Brady to throw long. Don’t see that happening, however.

It would be nice to get this win. Yeah, every game is nice to win. The Bears will be the strongest foe the Bucs have faced since opening the season at New Orleans. Getting a win in Chicago would be a really cool way to start off the second quarter of the season.

offense will continue to put up 30+…

defense has to stop giving up big plays….

rojo….we need another solid performance(outside of the drops)….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  2. TheBucsAnthem Says:

How embarrassing would it be if we lose to the hapless bears?

  3. Dapostman Says:

The Bears front 7 is good enough where they don’t need to stack the box. The OL will once again be the key to victory or defeat.

  4. 813bucboi Says:

    bears are 3-1…hapless?….

BL will have you eating CROW 4 weeks in a row!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  5. Show Me the TDs Says:

I remember Gruden preaching that the Bucs needed to be at least 3-1 in each quarter of the season. Works for me.

  6. Steven007 Says:

Probably as embarrassing as it would be to call a quarterback that is in the top five of the NFL in passes over 40 yards weenie armed.

  7. adam from ny Says:

if the bucs can put 30 up on this team…we win

not easy to throw 30 up on da bears…

and we have a boatload of injuries all the way down to jpp

  8. JimmyJack Says:

A game like this can be a tell if we are a contender. But we have to see how ready the Bears are. You gotta win in different ways in the NFL.

You cant expect to play shootouts every week. Not in the playoffs either.

If the Bears give us a grinding game it will go a long way to see us matchup with that style. Im confident the Bucs will be prepared to give the Bears a good fight. Lets see what they’re made of.

    GO BUCS!!!

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Again….this game will likely come down to Turnovers, Penalties & Special Teams…

Both of our lines are healthy……win the trenches…..

  10. adam from ny Says:

    the bears are no pushovers…

    well coached…

backer group is very very strong all the way down to trevathan

  11. Steven007 Says:

The bears are a decent team but they are very lucky 3-1. I consider our 3-1 record to be just about right. Bears could easily be 1-3. However they are solid throughout even though foles had a terrible game last week.

  12. pewter941 Says:

We are so beat up on the offensive side, do we even have 2 healthy runningbacks?

  13. BillyBucFan Says:

I don’t see any way outside of 2 scores by the defense we score 30+
I know this feels great to be 3-1 but these injuries are for real.

I think a 21-17 win is more realistic.

If our offense hums anyway, then this team will be scary good.

  14. Swampbuc Says:

This anthem character can’t be real. It must be a fictionsl character someone is spoofing with.

No one was impressed when we beat the Panthers…..but they just beat the Cardinals and Chargers in consecutive weeks. Bridgewater is playing well and elevating his teammates, McCaffery’s replacement has been playing great.

The Chargers made our defense look average and held Maghomes to 20.

The Broncos were one play away from beating the Titans and Steelers.

And the Bears are 3-1 and the anthem “person” calls them hapless.

It must suck to be miserable when the team is succeeding.

  15. D-Rome Says:

    Agreed on all points Swampbuc.

  16. Bird Says:

    Anthem

Thinks brady is garbage – noodle arm

Yet he warned people to watch out for jeff driskel

    ——

Therefore , his opinion is straight diarrhea of the mouth
Maybe he should start giving his opinion on smashball or cornhole or something ?

  17. Buc Bro Says:

Time for the O line to earn their bloated salaraies

  18. NashvilleBuc Says:

  19. Beeej Says:

Bears have #8 defense in the league

  20. chris L Says:

the way the NFC is and how lousy the NFC east is and how the west plays them this year and those crappy AFC east teams. the nfc is going to have a lot of really good teams and bad. 10-6 may not even be a guarantee with three extra wild card spots. bucs need this game badly. especially because it will impact our NFC record.

  21. pick6 Says:

bears are a fraud and the bucs should beat them comfortably on a short week.

lions, giants, and falcons are among the worst coached teams in the league right now, and they lost 19-11 to an Indy team with a vicious defense (like us), a great o line (arguably better than us), and a scoring attack that pales in comparison to the bucs’. They are stuck between two QBs who nobody else wanted and haven’t been considered a great offense since they had Mike Smith’s defense to beat up on 2 years ago

Honestly, I’d pick the Panthers over the Bears right now

  22. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

I still have horrible memories of the last face off with the Bears. Hopefully these Bucs can get that taste out and then some.

Yeah…….like only kicking a FG against backups the whole second half of the game????

Brucie…..you and Captain weenie armed Tommy Bly better get it together of else you ain’t beating no real teams this season!!!!
    ——————————————————————
Probably not as embarrassing as calling our GOAT QB “weenie arm” and watching him fire it downfield like he is!!!!!!!

  24. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Swampbuc don’t listen to “America’s QB Coach” aka BucAnthem. That man has been talkin out his backside on here for years. It’s like taking La Rhealista serious.

  25. Godlovesbucs Says:

This has all the makings of a tough game. Playing against a strong d in their house on a short week. And they were home last week, so no traveling for them. On top of that, it is a potential trap game, looking ahead to Green Bay the following week.

Next week is just as tough. Although we have an extra few days to prepare for green bay, they are on a bye this week. I will be happy if we come out of this 2 game stretch 1-1.

  26. geno711 Says:

    Just win.
However, we do it – that will work.

Not worried about ugly wins or other teams issues.

Somehow get a win like we did the last three weeks.

  27. Craig Says:

Bowles need to get his coaching act together a bit or it will be close.

Trubisky can chick an awfully long ball, so the Bucs need to keep the safeties back.

Last week the Bucs lived by the blitz and almost dies from it. The coach needs to stop selling out completely. Keep the safeties ranging the field.

  28. Mike Johnson Says:

Be ready O line. Them Bears have a great defensive line. Might be even better than ours. Don’t even slight them. The maulers will be ready. I hope we are also.

  29. adam from ny Says:

remember when mitch blofitzky lit up the secondary for 6 tds a couple years back under the dirk koetter watch…???

    how wild was that…

we got wacked in chicago for 48 points if i recall correctly…

right around then was when jenna started grilling dirk with tough presser questions and the madness began…

  30. orlbucfan Says:

Ain’t nothing “hapless” about a 3-1 team. Bucs playing Bears at Soldiers Field which will not be an easy game. Watch out for the refs. My focus is on the secondary. They were embarrassed in last week’s win. How will they play Thursday nite?

  31. SOEbuc Says:

Sit Godwin till week six vs GB and hopefully Fournette will be able to go Thursday but don’t rush him back either. LFG Vaughn and Hudson!!!

  32. mark2001 Says:

Adam… 21 should do it. The Bears Offense isn’t very dynamic, and we should be able to slow or shut them down. If we can’t, we don’t deserve to be in the same discussion with the Packers, Seahawks, KC, the Ravens, and such.

  33. Cobraboy Says:

I rwad Evans, Goidwin, Miller and Watson did not practice, and Fournette is doubtful for the Bears.

I hope they are just stiitng because of a short week and all will play, but that is a LOT of Buc firepower on the bench, not to mention Howard being gone for the season.

Auclaire can replace Howard blocking, but no way as a receiver.

Wanna bet Tanner Hudson becomes a household name before the end of the season?

  34. August 1976 Buc Says:

Totally agree @ geno711 Just win!!!

  35. Rod Munch Says:

Evans playing as well as he did when he playing on 1 leg was so impressive — and for the idiot Chargers bloggers to say Evans was just a big guy who catches TDs and can’t do anything else and Allen was better, LOL!

  36. buc15 Says:

    Anthem=NDOG

    adam from ny Says:
if the bucs can put 30 up on this team…we win

    thanks Nostradamus

  38. Karma Says:

Evans down the seam is my favorite catch of the season so far…it hits him in stride for a chunk of yardage. We’ve used it in two games I can think of and love to abuse the D every game.

Nice seeing our receivers getting YAC…Anyone know what it is compared to the years past?(Jameis era?)

    _____________________

They’re 3-1. After all the idiotic stuff that comes out of your mouth what do you care about them embarrassing themselves? They can never embarrass themselves as badly as you do on a daily basis.

  40. unbelievable Says:

This has felt like a trap game to me all week…

BUT, then I looked at their opponents. People say we’ve played weak teams and that is true to an extent, but I’d say overall our schedule has been tougher than theirs to this point.

And THAT is what leads me to believe we can win this game, IF we don’t shoot ourselves in the foot.

I’d also feel better if Godwin and/or Fournette was playing, as Evans has to still be nursing injuries and Barner just got suspended so we need another running back active.

  41. Cannon Says:

Its on the road, short week, prime time, against a decent team with a number of our starters out.

Will be a challenge for our team.
