“There Was Something In The Air”

October 19th, 2020

Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians.

Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians had a good hunch the Bucs would play well against the Packers.

That’s because Arians detected a change in the atmosphere at One Buc Palace. And no, that wasn’t the scent Joe leaves after having sauerkraut for lunch.

Arians said the practices late last week were sharper and more intense than any he has witnessed since he took over as Bucs coach last year.

“I could have told you last Thursday we were going to play good,” Arians said during his day-after presser. “We had Thursday and Friday practices like we have never had before. We have had great practices before. But there was something in the air Thursday and Friday’s practices.

“It was like, ‘What are we going to do this week?’ Our message [now] is, ‘Let’s make sure we are doing the same thing every day this week.'”

Joe thinks it is safe to assume one could sum up the source of these practices in two words: Tom Brady.

We all know the park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting Bucs quarterback has a damn high standard. Joe would not be surprised one bit if Brady had a come-to-Jesus meeting with the offense, saying unless they ramp things up their season could quickly go down the drain.

Last week Joe also noticed how peeved Jason Pierre-Paul was at the loss to Chicago. A week later he was still stewing about it and said how the Bucs “gave” the game away in Chicago.

JPP, like Brady, also has jewelry one earns when winning a Super Bowl. The way JPP sounded last week, he likely too chewed on teammates to get their tails in gear.

Arians added the goal now is for the Bucs to practice every day like they did late last week.

Let’s go on a streak now. Use GB win as a springboard.

At least 5 in a row.

Go Bucs! (No Realist it’s not go Raiders or some other team.)

  2. Darin Says:

Humidity in the air too Brucie. The Pack wilted in it. Oh how beautiful it was

  3. Casual Observer Says:

Brady’s widespread influence is hard (if not impossible) to quantify. But it is real and one of the main reasons for this team’s success so far. I believe it will only get stronger and the team will get better each week. Post season for sure.

  4. LVMYBUCS Says:

Nothing like having a real leader under center

  5. 813bucboi Says:

  6. DBS Says:

No El Fakeo does not even need to be here. The Real Fans want the team to win. He and the Fake fans can just leave.

  7. Cannon Says:

There is a distinct lack of sheep odor around here today. Kind of nice.

  8. james west Says:

yeah for sure, i hope we can win the next two, and have the dirty taints down at rayjay when we are 6-2 and curb stomp breese and da boys

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I think it’s important for the Bucs to remember both games….

    Chicago for Bucs beating Bucs……penalties,turnovers…

Green Bay for Bucs capabilities…..confident, error-free, aggressive, dominant football….

  10. SlyPirate541 Says:

A little worried about taking all the young Bucs to Las Vegas Saturday night.

The team should put them up off strip (go all the way to St George) and then party like rock stars, Sunday night if they win.

  11. Defense Rules Says:

@Joe … “And no, that wasn’t the scent Joe leaves after having sauerkraut for lunch.” TMI Joe. My senses are reeling now.

Gotta wonder though about your “Joe would not be surprised one bit if Brady had a come-to-Jesus meeting with the offense, saying unless they ramp things up their season could quickly go down the drain”.

Game Sunday was about RUNNING THE BALL EFFECTIVELY, not about Brady. Once BA & BL decided that they could trust RoJo & the OLine to get the job done, the Packers were toast. We ran on 60% of our plays. Packers had no effective answer to RoJo & our OLine relentlessly pounding the ball down their throats. And yes, our running did set up Brady’s short & deep passing game IMO.

Looking at PFR’s play-by-play recap, RoJo ran the ball 23 times … 16 of those on 1st down (for 69 yds total & 1 TD) and 7 of them on 2nd down (for the remaining 44 yds & 1 TD). So 70% of his runs were on 1st down; one of those was his 25 yd scamper, so the remaining 15 got 44 yds (3 YPC average … and NO negative yardage in there). And yes, we were VERY predictable on 1st down. And yet, the Pack defense couldn’t effectively capitalize on that. Kudos to our OLine BTW.

On his 2nd down carries (7 for 44 yds) RoJo was a beast: FOUR 1st downs plus 1 TD. Two of those runs were for over 10 yds. That’s what I’d call ‘Gettin ‘er done’.

I wasn’t impressed with McCoy’s running (4 runs for 1 yd), but Vaughn acquitted himself quite well I thought: 5 rushes for 42 yds, the longest being 19 yds. And all of them in the 4th qtr when the Packers pretty much knew we were gonna run. He’s a keeper.

  12. Lamarcus Says:

I think we will be ok in Vegas. I live here and its pretty much the same as any other town

  13. orlbucfan Says:

The CV crud is alive and well. I doubt any Buc will dare chance whooping it up and getting very sick. The entire organization has run a very tight ship regarding the pandemic.

  14. Soggy Says:

  15. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

Brady gave the team belief!! I have both played football for my whole young adult life and have coached ever since into my older age…. If they lose hope or lose the will to win or think they can’t win… They have already lost!!! I coach kids in the 11-13 range and yes it’s kids, but I can tell you I’ve had seasons where we lose the first few and getting that confidence back up is the hardest thing to do!! The belief they can win is HUGE!! And as soon as Brady signed the dotted line they had belief!!! They had it in them for the last few years physically…. Mentally they were already beat when facing the good teams and when the game meant something… And much of that had to do with Winston LIKE IT OR NOT… Ndog …… Every time he threw that interception with 5 minutes left and down by 5 the defense was already beat!! Because it was heeeere we go again….. This team would have NEVER won with Winston!! He would have had to have 3 or 4 reeeeally good years to earn the confidence back and that would mean probably 4 different coaches along the way!! …. You can’t put into value rating What Brady brought to this team!!

Where’s the 2 jackass’s we haven’t played no one Brady is lucky jay miss is the best. Ol stale o biscuit whine whine whine. There like cock roaches them 2. Only come out in the bad. Great team win! Keep it going!

Hey Joe, sometimes i think you use your nicknames much but boy i just had a big laugh about the NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting Bucs quarterback… Down forgetting hahaha priceless. Keep it up i m with you, give my greetings to sage and of course to you 2 joes, from a Bucs fan in Greece.

  18. lambchop Says:

    @Darin,

Humidity had nothing to do with it. Packers were harassed by our D after the first 2 series. They just had a good old fashioned beat down. Great win for the Bucs, but it still wasn’t a full 60 with us being shut down in the 1st quarter. But, we got that pick-6 and ran with it till the end.

  19. Paul Says:

It’s articles like this where the LAME, CHILDISH, DISRESPECTFUL, CLASSLESS Moniker really make JOE look like an Amateur journalist. Who still hasn’t gotten over his love affair tith JW.

Kudos for establishing your following already-but the lack of PROFESSIONALISM here screams when you call the GOAT:

    park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting Bucs quarterback

PATHETIC and LAME attempt at humor.

Thank you or checking in GREECE! Did you see we have the GOAT on our team now?

Try reading the LAME Moniker everyday. Think your attitude might be a little different? Yeah it’s just hilarious-I am sure you like the Peter King one too?

    Shame on you JOE
Desperate for approval on your BS? Where did you dig this guy up from? That’s the BEST you got?? lol

    Good Luck!

  22. TJ Says:

The moniker isn’t LAME or CHILDISH or DISRESPECTFUL…it is ABSOLUTLY PRICELESS…now that’s what I call journalism GOLD!! And the more you Brady-boot-lickin, Jameis-hatin lowlifes squirm about it, the BETTER day! Pure entertainment! Love it Joe. Keep up the good work! GO NON-PLAYOFF WINNING, KICKER & DB DRAFTIN’, BUCS! All the way!!!

  23. SlyPirate Says:

INTERESTING NEWS: The Giants benched OT Andrew Thomas #4 pick for disciplinary reasons. Even before the benching, he wasn’t doing great. Rumor has it the Giants were considering Wirfs at 4. Oops.

Of the OL drafted before Wirfs, Jedrick Wills is good at pass protection but can’t run block. Mekhi Benton was doing great but is out with injury.

Wirfs has been the best OT in the draft, including the highest PFF grade of the bunch. Great job, Licht and co!!!

  24. 813bucboi Says:

    sly

    thats good news to hear….

    GO BUCS!!!!

  25. geno711 Says:

    Sly,
Like you – read bad things on Andrew Thomas not doing much.

On Wills Jr, I had read some better things.

There were a ton of other offensive lineman drafted and I think almost all have been invisible (not playing) including Austin Jackson who Miami picked a couple after us.

I think NE got a hit with their 6th rounder but that is it.

Yesterday Wirfs no penalties, sacks allowed or even pressures. Great choice for us.

  26. #1 BUCFAN Says:

Let’s not get cockey. Let’s see IF the defence can keep their mindset and the momentum.

Play two solid games full throttle with a W, then we can puff our chest .

  27. Bill M Says:

Packers have been coming to Tampa for years and just assuming a win. I think they were over confident and ran into a buzz saw. I grew up in Wisconsin and watched every game Lombardi coached hard ass football. Dominate defense and decent offense can go all the way.
