Grade: A+

Chased perfection

As you will hear later on the “Ira Kaufman Podcast,” the famed JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman says the Bucs played as close to perfect football as perhaps the franchise has ever played for three quarters on Sunday.

So it is not a shocker to see how John Breech of CBS Sports graded out the Bucs for the beatdown of the Packers. Breech gave the Bucs an “A+.”

The Buccaneers did something on Sunday that no team had been able to do all season: They shut down the Packers high-powered offense. A big reason the Bucs were able to do that is because of the constant pressure they put on Aaron Rodgers. Tampa’s defense sacked Rodgers a total of four times in the game with Lavonte David and Jason Pierre-Paul each racking up 1.5. The Buccaneers had Rodgers flustered for most of the game, which led to two interceptions, including a Jamel Dean pick-six in the second quarter. Offensively, the Buccaneers got nearly everyone involved as Tom Brady completed at least one pass to eight different receivers, including Rob Gronkowski, who caught his first TD pass of the season. The Bucs also had their ground game rolling and that was mainly thanks to Ronald Jones, who rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns.

What didn’t the Bucs do well Sunday? They passed well. They ran well. They blocked well. They tackled well. They sacked Rodgers. They housed a pass. They defended passes. They kicked field goals — no trivial matter given the recent history of this team.

Joe sure hopes it was more a sign of things to come and not a one-hit Sunday.

I fear the players might read these clippings and get too full of themselves.

Seen it happen over and over.

Hope our coaches and Brady keep them in line for the Raiders.

  2. Defense Rules Says:

Total of 11 penalties for 109 yds in the Bears game vs 0 penalties in the Packers game. And yes, Bucs had more penalty yards than we had rushing yards against the Bears. Is that what they mean by ‘beating yourself’?

I wonder what changed? Offense had 7 penalties in the Bears game (most stunted drives), and the defense had 2 penalties … both in the 4th qtr. One was inconsequential, but the DPI against Davis kept the Bears drive alive (it was on 3rd down) & the Bears ended up kicking a FG (the winning margin).

Same team showed up for the Packers game. Wondering now which one will show up for the Raiders game.

  3. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

All they have to do is go back and look at the first quarter of the game to get some perspective. They have gone from playing 2 quarters of great football per game to three quarters per game. I’m still waiting to see 4 quarters of CONSISTENT and GOOD football from them.

  4. JonJohn Says:

I agree Scotty. They didn’t play 4 great quarter against the packers, only 3. We need to learn to play 4

The arrival of Arians ended the lost decade.

    Go Bucs!!!

  9. Colonel_mp Says:

Chucky will overthink this game and motion way too much on offense. We get after him early and he will start to get risky and we could end up with a 20 point W.

    Go BUCS!

The phony “Bucs fans” exposed themselves once again:

Brokeback Mirror said he enjoyed the 1st Quarter of last game
El Bucco Fake-A-Leasto said “Go Packers!!!!!!!!!”
Ndogturd was making excuses for Green Bay

Nothing but crickets, now. It’s a great thing!

  13. #1bucfan Says:

As much as I’ve bin enjoying this win and let’s be real one of the best games in our Bucs history but we gotta another game Sunday. I hope these guys are done celebrating and are focused on beating the raiders and hopefully they wanna play better this Sunday than they did last Sunday. Let’s go Bucs

I see some of the diaper babies still crying.about something. These are the people that can’t be happy in life about anything. Always have to grumble about something.

  15. Erik W Hesson Says:

What we just did on Sunday, Ladies and Gentlemen, is the Blueprint.

Now, we have a very clear vision of our highest attainable ideals in all 3 phases of the game basically….

And we can still improve upon that Offensive performance, which means we potentially have one of the Greatest and most complete teams ever assembled…

I mean think about it, after our Superbowl Victory in Tampa this season, when we analyze teams performances etc, and the Bucs finish the season as the #1 Defense and a Top-5 Offense, maybe Top-3 by the end of the season… That’s Rare air right there and a Historically Great Team, and led by the GOAT for good measure…

  16. Erik Hesson - Fine Artist - City of St Pete Says:

    Side note… Joe’s, and everyone…

Rojo is one of the Most Dynamic RB’s in the League. He’s not just a power back. He is one of the fastest RB’s in the entire NFL on Top End speed and Rojo is literally on the cusp Taking it to the House on multiple runs per game and I guarantee you that Rojo starts Housing runs here pretty soon bcuz Nobody can catch Rojo from behind, I promise you that. (just like Leonard Fournette also, tbh)… We have 2 of the fastest RB’s in the NFL in the 100-yd dash… Rojo and Fournette can both hit 21mph at top speed.

  17. Erik Hesson - Fine Artist - City of St Pete Says:

    For example,

I can see an 80+ run coming up in Rojo’s future, where the defense is in a goaline D on a 3rd and 1 from our own 12-yd line or something, and then Rojo breaks thru the initial line/blockade and thren busts out ala Leonard Fournette and takes it to the house…. Bcuz nobody is catching Rojo from behind once he breaks out, I know that for a fact. Rojo’s topend speed is Elite like Fournette’s is as well…

  18. Iamabuc Says:

Jesus, we might just have the best one-two punch running backs in the NFL…RoJo is really powerful!!!…. I’m telling you , the bulling on the Bucs is over. Too much talent across the board not to get this done this year….Go Bucs!!!

  19. Iamabuc Says:

So this officially mark the day where the Fakorealisto and Nsato (NDog)’s comments become just nonsense and irrelevant. This is a good moment for both to ride into the sunset and go “Broke back Mountain” together….🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  20. rrsrq Says:

Didn’t J-Fro play an A+ game against the Pack in the last time we saw the Creamsicles –

  21. Thebucsfan Says:

Most importantly, they played with discipline

  22. rrsrq Says:

Wasn’t it against the Pack when Legarette Blount made one of the angriest runs ever

    Don’t get too pumped.

The Bucs have a looooong history of laying Fat Head eggs after big wins.

    No Risk It No Biscuit,
i think you meant to type the Arrival of Brady…….

  25. orlbucfan Says:

Can the Bucs play 4 quarters of perfect football? If so, egomaniac Chucky and the gambling whales won’t know what hit them.

  26. stpetebucsfan Says:

    D.R.

The team that manhandled the Pack better be the one that shows up. Raiders are tough this year and I do NOT want to lose to Chucky.

  27. Defense Rules Says:

StPete …I don’t want to lose to him either. But I’ll bet you that Vegas has the Raiders favored. Beating them is fun, but beating them with us as underdogs, then taking their lunch money followed by watching them try to explain all that to Vegas mob is even sweeter.

  28. Mr. B Says:

They played like crap against the bears because that Thursday night game is a joke. Guys are beat up , unfocused and tired. Add to that the travel on a short week and that is how you lose to an inferior team like the bears. Total aberration.

    Same.

Really gonna need the vets like Brady and JPP to lay down the law again this week and force everyone to stay focused.

If that doesn’t happen, expect the Raiders game to get sloppy and ugly.

  30. unbelievable Says:

And I agree the Arnie’s day night game we usually trash bo matter what teams are playing.

Such a joke, and frankly an insult to us fans.
